Who would Di have preferred? Kate or Meghan?

Liked better, got on with better?

by Anonymousreply 110March 26, 2023 1:11 PM

Meghan.

by Anonymousreply 1March 19, 2023 2:49 PM

Kate.

Not that I think she would have liked her, but respected and tolerated her for William's stability within the structure he was doomed for.

Also, I think Di in her "later" years was recognizing that she was impulsive. Therein, she would have been both resentful of Meg being too much like her yet also jealous of how successful MeAgain is at being disruptive.

by Anonymousreply 2March 19, 2023 3:01 PM

She's dead so it doesn't matter.

by Anonymousreply 3March 19, 2023 3:02 PM

Meghan because Di was as unhinged and mental As Harry and his wife.

by Anonymousreply 4March 19, 2023 3:04 PM

Diana would have seen right through Markle and run that grifting shyster's ass right out of the UK.

Diana was a monarchist. She would have liked Kate and appreciated that Kate gave William the stability to go forward.

by Anonymousreply 5March 19, 2023 3:06 PM

Camilla Parker-Bowles. She would have preferred the old horse for either son, so long as she stayed away from her husband.

by Anonymousreply 6March 19, 2023 3:20 PM

Meghan, because some people just can’t stay away from drama. They’d be like Victoria Beckham and Nicola Peltz.

by Anonymousreply 7March 19, 2023 3:29 PM

She would have liked Kate. Diana would have not liked Meghan. Narcissists and manipulators do not like competition.

by Anonymousreply 8March 19, 2023 7:14 PM

Do was extremely insecure so would have recognized Meghan as a ruthless conniver.

by Anonymousreply 9March 19, 2023 7:16 PM

Di would have loved Kate because she isn’t a disruptor. She’s placid and calm and takes the high road. Like R5 said, Diana was a monarchist and a blue blood through and through. She herself was born on the Sandringham estate and the Queen was her brother’s godmother. Forget the emotions at Diana’s funeral, Earl Spencer was there front and center at the Queen’s burial (which was close family and friends). That’s how aligned they are with the monarchy. That being said, Diana would have destroyed anyone who tried to come between William (and now her first grandson George) and the crown. Who wants to undermine the institution that will give your son a place in history and oh, a billion dollar net worth?

She would have despised Meghan if only for her schemes against William and his kids.

by Anonymousreply 10March 19, 2023 7:22 PM

I truly believe Diana would have been heartbroken to see her two sons estranged from each other.

She would have supported Harry and Meghan's decision to leave.

She would initially have gotten along with both daughters-in-law, but she would have had fallings-out with both.

Just look at the history of her relationship with her own mother and siblings to predict what would have happened.

by Anonymousreply 11March 19, 2023 7:33 PM

I think she would have been the jealous and possessive of her son mother-in-law with Catherine. Supposedly William was her BFF/surrogate boyfriend of sorts who she confided all her problems to. Didn't Di get jealous when nannies got too close to the boys and fire them?

She would have absolutely hated Meghan and fought tooth and nail to send her packing and not spared any manipulation or antic to achieve her goal.

by Anonymousreply 12March 19, 2023 7:41 PM

With Di around, they would have become completely different men and attracted different women. They might be married to Kitty Spencer for all we know. (I'm kitting.)

by Anonymousreply 13March 19, 2023 7:42 PM

That’s not much of a choice. I don’t think she’d like either one honestly. I’d give the edge to Kate. Kate, while dull as dishwater, plays the robot role in public and doesn’t ruffle feathers. Even though that’s the total opposite of Diana, she would want to see her son become King and that kind of partner works.

Meghan is a conniving opportunist and Diana would clearly see that. I don’t know how anyone doesn’t see it. Then again, if she were alive, Harry probably wouldn’t have the issues he has now and wouldn’t have married Meghan.

by Anonymousreply 14March 19, 2023 7:43 PM

Meghan. Diana was many things, but lazy was not one of them. She was very involved in her charities/patronages and humanitarian work. I think they would have more in common. Diana also liked some of the woo-woo stuff like crystals, etc. so they would have that in common as well. I can see Diana wondering what Kate does all day, and why she doesn't use her platform better.

by Anonymousreply 15March 19, 2023 7:49 PM

Actually, a divorced 35 year old d-list actress would NEVER EVER get close to Diana's precious baby boy. Anyone saying Meghan would even be given a second look by Diana doesn't understand, a. Rich mothers, b. British women, c. Anyone upper middle class or above.

I realize Meghan is the Working Girls' Princess. But Diana was NOT.

by Anonymousreply 16March 19, 2023 8:02 PM

Kate’s dutiful. She’d have kissed the ring and made sure to build a decent relationship with her mother-in-law. And she’s a good partner to Di’s son.

Now, a part of her might never fully respect Kate because of her conformity to the monarchy…

by Anonymousreply 17March 19, 2023 8:06 PM

Di would have had only withering contempt for bland goody2shoes monarchist Kate. She would have hit Will upside his head when he revealed he was seeing her.

As for Meghan, they would have joined forces against Charles, Camilla, and the Queen, bless her cold dead black heart.

by Anonymousreply 18March 20, 2023 8:34 AM

Kate easily. I think they would have gotten on really well and Diana would have dotted over William & Kate's adorable brood.

She would have been sympathetic to Meghan, but from personal experience would have known that Meghan was pushing the envelope so to speak. She may have actually been a good influence on Meghan. Also, she would have adored Harry & Meghans adorable brood as much as William & Kate's and would have treated all her grandchildren equally.

by Anonymousreply 19March 20, 2023 8:45 AM

Bless your heart r19, you dotty, doting daddy

by Anonymousreply 20March 20, 2023 8:50 AM

One only has to look at Victoria Beckham and Nicola Peltz. Controlling spoiled cunt manipulating her son and he sided with the wife. Hahahaha.

by Anonymousreply 21March 20, 2023 8:51 AM

One must always side with the wife and not the mommy. It's called growing up

by Anonymousreply 22March 20, 2023 8:54 AM

I don't think Diana would have been a friendly mother-in-law to start with, but she would have certainly warmed to cooperative Kate but would have positively screeched into view once the ancient, lying, family-splitting actress Meghan set her claws in.

Under no circumstances would Harry have been allowed to marry Meghan. He would have been prevented from going out on more than two dates with her. If she resisted, a few phone calls Hollywood-wards would have been made and the Queen of Hearts would have raised a veritable army of American social climbing hollywood types, along with all her longtime pals in the press, to ice Meghan out and then dig dirt wherever necessary.

If Meghan didn't go quietly and immediately, Diana would have made sure she was destroyed before MEghan slunked off with her tail between her legs.

by Anonymousreply 23March 20, 2023 8:58 AM

Diana was a narcissist. She would have loathed any woman who wanted her sons' attention, and certainly any who was expected to be "her" for the next generation.

by Anonymousreply 24March 20, 2023 12:30 PM

Kate (guided by her own mother, Carole) would have expertly deferred to alpha female Diana.

Diana would have enjoyed Meghan's troublemaking to some extent, but those two personalities would eventually have clashed big time.

by Anonymousreply 25March 20, 2023 12:36 PM

Maybe worth noting, Diana's girlfriends tended to be calm, settled types. She was the drama queen in the friendships.

by Anonymousreply 26March 20, 2023 12:41 PM

Diana would have hated Meghan.

She hates her now, and dreads the day Meghan joins her in hell and she can't escape her.

Because making hell even worse is what it's all about.

by Anonymousreply 27March 20, 2023 12:41 PM

R23, that’s ridiculous. Harry is a grown man, Diana wouldn’t have that much influence over him. Had she lived I have a feeling Diana would have had more kids and a second family. So her 30-something year old son wouldn’t be her sole focus.

by Anonymousreply 28March 20, 2023 1:52 PM

[quote]Meghan.

What does Meghan do all day?

by Anonymousreply 29March 20, 2023 2:15 PM

According to you guys she has some sort of pod cast y'all are constantly screeching about R29.

by Anonymousreply 30March 20, 2023 2:32 PM

She and Meghan would have hit it off initially and teamed up against Kate. But they’d quickly turn against each other and Diana would destroy Meghan.

Kate would done everything she could to placate Diana—just look at how seamlessly she’s navigated the treacherous royal waters.

by Anonymousreply 31March 20, 2023 2:43 PM

Meghan, Kate is the type of weak sycophant Diana would have despised.

by Anonymousreply 32March 20, 2023 3:11 PM

You are stupid R32, Kate is not weak nor sychopant. She is mentally stable and strong, dull family woman. She is acting in the interest of her own family and doing her job like a true professional, cause her husband will be king and herself a queen. She has no reason to stir shit as it would only harm her and her family and she seems not to have mental issues that would motivate her to act in self destructive manner.

by Anonymousreply 33March 20, 2023 4:08 PM

There would have been no Meghan because Harry would be a different person than he is now. Forgive me as I cannot remember which royal book I read it in, but towards the end of Diana's life her relationship with Charles had thawed a bit. So much so that they were decently (for their echelon) coparenting the boys. They had decided to seriously address Harry's issues once the summer was over. They and the rest of the extended family had realized Harry had mental or emotional problems that went beyond normal boyhood antics. For all her own instabilities, I think Diana would have worked to address Harry's issues or made different decisions - for instance, I think she could have persuaded Charles not to send Harry to Eton and to send him someplace more suited to his issues. Charles seemed to dump Harry on William and certain handlers and otherwise give in to Harry's tantrums out of guilt. At the very least, had Diana lived, Harry would not have been able to play the "my mummy died and they made me walk behind her coffin" guilt trip.

by Anonymousreply 34March 20, 2023 4:34 PM

I think Diana would have liked both of them for different reasons. I think she would have liked Kate for her devotion to William, and Megan for making Harry happy. Diana was very protective of her sons, and I think she would have carried that over to her DILs. She would have sympathized with Kate's position as PoW and spouse of the heir, and with Meghan for being an outsider and a lightning rod for the press.

by Anonymousreply 35March 20, 2023 7:27 PM

R35 Your Diana sounds so sweet. Would she be queen in your scenario? What would Camilla be doing, or rather, what would she have done with her?

by Anonymousreply 36March 20, 2023 9:19 PM

R35 big ole Mary

by Anonymousreply 37March 20, 2023 9:24 PM

If Diana had lived, Harry wouldn't be the fucked-up mess he is (or at least not to the extent he is). He'd still probably have some PTSD from his time in Afghanistan. There would be no Meghan in this scenario.

Because she and Charles were divorced, Diana would not be queen, but neither would Camilla, since it is unlikely that public opinion would ever have cooled to allow Charles to marry Camilla.

by Anonymousreply 38March 20, 2023 9:46 PM

Good info, r34. Thanks. Harry's bitter, angry reaction to public grief over Diana's death was not normal. Most kids that age would have reacted differently. For him to express now how he had felt then indicates he hasn't properly worked through it/is still dysfunctional.

R29, I'll have you know Markle is kept very busy merching, grifting, spewing word salad, trying to climb the social ladder in LA, famewhoring and finding the most expensive, least flattering clothes and accessories she can.

Kate's family would have won Diana over. And I can't see her being impressed with the way Pa Markle was discarded. She'd have had any women who came near her boys investigated and Markle wouldn't have been considered suitable. Had Diana retained her superstar status, Harry would still be riding her coattails.

by Anonymousreply 39March 20, 2023 10:51 PM

Diana would have grudgingly accepted Kate over time, if she'd been willing to stick it out, because there's no way she's ever have failed to give any potential daughters-in-law hell. Her desire to come first with her sons would have gotten stronger with age and subsequent divorces, she would have realized they were the only men in her life who couldn't dump her. So while she'd consciously believe that William had to marry, she'd still have given any girlfriends hell.

Every time Katherine sets foot in a church, she must thank the good Lord above that she's never had to deal with a mother-in-law.

by Anonymousreply 40March 20, 2023 11:15 PM

Of course Diana would not be queen; she was divorced when she died. If she lived she would still be divorced. Camilla and Charles would never have married if Diana remained alive so there would be no queen.

by Anonymousreply 41March 20, 2023 11:20 PM

Both. She would have seen through Kate and supported her playing the game and she would have liked Meg's as she was such a good partner from Harry.

by Anonymousreply 42March 20, 2023 11:27 PM

Harry and his wife have targeted their attacks on William and his wife. Diana would never have allowed that and she'd have taken a very dim view of Harry's wife for promoting it.

Harry's wife is a failed actress. Diana would have looked the other way while Harry fucked her for a while and then Diana would have shown her the door. Diana was the star in that family.

by Anonymousreply 43March 20, 2023 11:33 PM

The ONLY way Di ever would have accepted Meg, is if she became desperate to have Harry off her hands.

And I don't know that she ever would have felt that way. No matter how much of a problem he would have been, no matter how stupid or needy or worthless he was or how many of her men he ran off, he still could have been her never-fail tall handsome high-status escort. To an aging divorced socialite, that's more precious than Saudi sapphires.

by Anonymousreply 44March 20, 2023 11:51 PM

She would’ve hated them both.

by Anonymousreply 45March 20, 2023 11:53 PM

If Diana were still alive Harry probably would have married someone earlier and never have met Meghan.

Meghan would have gotten some more roles and dated an actor.

by Anonymousreply 46March 21, 2023 12:00 AM

I don't think Kate is boring. In fact, I think it takes quite a bit of steeliness amd backbone to appear to be so boring. I would like to know her better but I will be dead before any useful info about what she's really like comes out.

by Anonymousreply 47March 21, 2023 12:00 AM

R45 Yes Diana loved and hated the attention. She would have been older and less beautiful. It would probably feel upsetting to no longer be the talk of the town and outshined by younger women.

by Anonymousreply 48March 21, 2023 12:02 AM

Neither Catherine nor Harry's wife have the star power to outshine Diana. She had IT far more than either of her daughters in law.

by Anonymousreply 49March 21, 2023 12:04 AM

Meghan. Kate is boring as fuck.

by Anonymousreply 50March 21, 2023 12:07 AM

R49. Diana would be old now. Who knows how much appeal she would have. The public would also have lived through 30 more years of her public craziness.

by Anonymousreply 51March 21, 2023 1:10 AM

The public loved Diana. She'd have as much appeal as ever if she were still alive. All of the women who worshipped her in the 80s and 90s are also old now and they would continue to identify with Diana through the decades. The rest of the world isn't the rancid cunts who post on DL, thank god.

by Anonymousreply 52March 21, 2023 1:32 AM

No way. Our society is fickle. They would have treated her like a deranged real housewife. She would not be beloved.

by Anonymousreply 53March 21, 2023 1:42 AM

R44, Dimbo is NOT handsome. He looks like a barely human version of a Muppet.

by Anonymousreply 54March 21, 2023 4:07 AM

Diana may have retreated from public life at some point had she lived. I totally think she would have remarried and maybe more kids. Though I could see another divorce. I don’t believe she’d have a ton of influence in who her sons did or didn’t marry.

R52, had she lived, she would be iconic, but I don’t think there would be anywhere near the same level of interest. Look at Madonna and every other 60- something yr old entertainer. At the end of the day, she was a celebrity.

by Anonymousreply 55March 21, 2023 4:28 AM

OP, do you mean which would she have preferred to fuck?

by Anonymousreply 56March 21, 2023 4:36 AM

[quote]What does Meghan do all day?

Think up complaints.

by Anonymousreply 57March 21, 2023 4:45 AM

Laughable how the DL hive mind believes Diana would have been an eternal desperate socialite having affairs with unsuitable men like Dodi just because this is what she was doing aged 36.

It's much more likely that she would have remarried before she was 40 and even had more children.

by Anonymousreply 58March 21, 2023 6:42 AM

Meghan would have gotten anywhere near Harry had Diana lived. She would have spotted this grifter a mile away.

by Anonymousreply 59March 24, 2023 6:45 AM

But Meghan was the laziest out of all of them r15.

by Anonymousreply 60March 24, 2023 6:48 AM

R24 has it in a nutshell. Not a woman alive would've had an easy time with Diana as a mother-in-law. She fired two nannies for getting "too close" and didn't even let them say goodbye.

Kate may have had a chance, depending on how well she and Carole played the game (aka bowed and scraped to Di) but Meghan? What card would she have to play if Di was alive?

by Anonymousreply 61March 24, 2023 6:57 AM

In all likelihood, neither woman would've gotten within 1000 feet of Diana's Boys. She would've been asserting control over their love lives as soon as they hit dating age, which for William was any day.

by Anonymousreply 62March 24, 2023 7:02 AM

Rose Hanbury/Cressida Bonas

by Anonymousreply 63March 24, 2023 7:08 AM

R10 This is the correct answer.

The idea that Diana would join forces with Meghan to try to take down Charles is beyond stupid. She wanted William as King above all else and wouldn't have allowed Meghan and Harry to try to undermine him. I'm not sure Harry would be all that better adjusted had she lived either, since as time went on it would be more and more obvious William was favored by everyone, even his beloved Mother.

by Anonymousreply 64March 24, 2023 7:08 AM

R52 public opinion was turning on her that summer.

Early death turned her into a saint.

by Anonymousreply 65March 24, 2023 7:13 AM

Diana would have seen right through Meghan. I don’t think Harry would have married Meghan had Diana lived.

by Anonymousreply 66March 24, 2023 7:20 AM

I think Diana would have had problems with them both. I believe she would have instigated the problems too. Then, she would have see sawed back and forth in her relationships with them.

by Anonymousreply 67March 24, 2023 7:25 AM

Kate would've been the daughter she never had.

Diana would've despised Meghan and everytime she had to fake a smile and do a photo op with her she'd be searching the room for the nearest blunt object she could hit Meghan with.

by Anonymousreply 68March 24, 2023 7:26 AM

Without the dead mom card, Meghan would have nothing to play. She would be nowhere near Harry.

by Anonymousreply 69March 24, 2023 7:30 AM

"Di would have loved Kate because she isn’t a disruptor. She’s placid and calm and takes the high road."

Something that could NEVER be said of Diana.

by Anonymousreply 70March 24, 2023 7:30 AM

"I'm not sure Harry would be all that better adjusted had she lived either,"

I think he'd have been *better* adjusted... just not *well* adjusted.

Even without the trauma of losing his mother at a vulnerable age, he'd still be stupid, aggressive, spoiled, selfish, oblivious, and useless. And he'd still have mommy issues, just not the same mommy issues he has today. Because Diana would probably have recognized that Wiliam could never completely belong to her, he had to belong to the nation and the Windsors as well as her, and he would have to marry whether she liked it or not. But Harry... she could *own* Harry, make him her pet and her escort, the one man in her life who could never dump her, as well as the one man in her life who'd never defy her or question her beliefs. Because Harry is as thick as a brick, and beyond easily led, he LOVES being told what to do, he'd have become her unquestioning acolyte, with all the problems that entails.

by Anonymousreply 71March 24, 2023 7:53 AM

Diana would have loved Kate because, aside from all her other qualities as mentioned, she is the perfect life partner for her son in his unique role in life. The idea that there's any question which of her daughter-in-laws Diana would have preferred is ridiculous. Although, as others have said, it's unlikely that Harry would have married Meghan if Diana had lived.

by Anonymousreply 72March 24, 2023 7:55 AM

I'm not sure Harry's problems are because William was the "favoured" brother. Harry actually seems to have mild learning difficulties. Maté Gabor apparently diagnosed him with ADD.

by Anonymousreply 73March 24, 2023 7:59 AM

I'm sorry but I still can't get over the disturbing and traumatizing revelation that Harry jacked off using some of Diana's left over face cream long after she died.

You know he can't fuck Meghan unless she wears a short blonde wig and Diana's perfume and talks to him like a baby in an English accent with the lights turned off.

by Anonymousreply 74March 24, 2023 8:03 AM

Why are people on here saying Diana respected the institution of monarchy? She did everything she could, post-divorce, to undermine it. Harry is certainly his mother's son.

by Anonymousreply 75March 24, 2023 8:05 AM

R58, I'm not sure Diana would have remarried and had more kids by the age of 40. I think she would have remarried at some later point, and perhaps divorced again, but I suspect she wouldn't have had more kids.

You are right, though, that she would not have been an eternal socialite. She would have calmed down at some point and reconciled in some way with the royal family, if only for the sake of her sons.

by Anonymousreply 76March 24, 2023 8:06 AM

It's quite clear that r15 is a dumb American who has no fucking clue what the royal family is or does.

by Anonymousreply 77March 24, 2023 8:07 AM

But Harry respects the institution of the monarchy, r75. He most of all thinks it's about the titles and the trappings and him being important because he's a royal. Diana respected the institution of the monarchy too. Neither Diana nor Harry are stealth republicans, secretly trying to bring the monarchy down and convert the UK to a republican system with a ceremonial president. Their problems were or are with their personal relationships with individuals in the royal family.

by Anonymousreply 78March 24, 2023 8:11 AM

R55, absolutely, if Diana had lived she wouldn't have the same celebrity status as she grew into her 40s and 50s, but why do you think that's what she was interested in anyway? She would still be the mother of the future king and a royal prince. Her life's work would hv focused on supporting them, especially William, with his idiosyncratic role. She would have understood herself as being a member of the royal family, despite her divorce, and, as she matured and inevitably got over some of her issues with Charles, would have acted as the mother of the future king.

by Anonymousreply 79March 24, 2023 8:16 AM

Diana would have lost her title if she remarried which she was desperate to retain. Maybe if the guy was a billionaire.

From what has been reported, William had distanced himself from his mother. He seems to read others pretty well. One can only guess, but I don't think he would have let her influence his choice of a wife nor any aspect of his life. The tighter she clung, the more he would have pushed her to the fringes.

by Anonymousreply 80March 24, 2023 10:54 AM

William was 15, it's not uncommon for 15-year-old boys to want to hang out with their mates and not their mum. Although, everything we know about them suggests they were close and loving.

The last public photo of William and Diana together beautifully encapsulates the loving relationship between a teenage boy and his mum.

by Anonymousreply 81March 24, 2023 11:23 AM

Diana was very much in the vein of Jackie on Assistance. As R80 says, Diana would have given up the title for maybe a billionaire.

by Anonymousreply 82March 24, 2023 7:52 PM

I think Diana would acknowledge that Kate was a good choice for William and Kate would take care to be in her good graces at all times but Diana was emotional and easily bored. I think she’d still try to stir up bits of drama between William and Kate. It would never get too far because William would shut it down. She would dote on the kids, playing the glamorous grandmother.

Harry might actually have had the chance to go off and live in Africa half the year, on his game preserve.

by Anonymousreply 83March 24, 2023 10:15 PM

I read somewhere that Diana and Charles were forging a friendship after their divorce. That on the day it was finalised, they cried together.

by Anonymousreply 84March 24, 2023 10:56 PM

I agree with our society being fickle. As she aged who knows.

She was given a lot of shit while alive too. People remember her like a saint because she died.

Diana would have likely seen this coming from a mile away and have fought to keep Harry in the military, where he would have been distracted and possibly matured... to serve his time with some normal peers, likely still end up showing his ass in Vegas but inevitably settle down into royal life with coaching footie with the kids before inevitably settling down into a proper relationship.. perhaps with another nation's royals. Nathalie, maybe. . . being slightly older.

by Anonymousreply 88March 24, 2023 11:21 PM

Diana might well have had money problems as she got older, she didn't get enough in the divorce to live like a billionaire, and I don't know if William would have been willing to support her in the style in which she'd become accustomed.

So who knows. Instead of smothering Harry, she might have wrangled him a Chelsy Davy! It's something he'd have been wise to do on his own, but he couldn't manage it.

by Anonymousreply 89March 24, 2023 11:37 PM

I love Di, I woke up at whatever time in the morning to watch the wedding, I had the paper dolls, I grew up with her and went hysterical when she died. She, unless she mellowed a lot, would've been an awful MIL. She would've had meltdowns, splittings, pop ins, shitty comments and overbearing would be the watchword .

by Anonymousreply 90March 24, 2023 11:55 PM

Diana would have been more than proud of her successor as Princess of Wales. Catherine has an article in today's Financial Times , entitled "Investing in early childhood is a down payment on all our futures - Businesses should play a central role in changing attitudes".

Lol at R70 thinking skeletal Kate doesn't have an eating disorder. Willy is verbally abusive to her and probably physically abusive too. She has the cowed look of a bullied woman.

Diana adored the showbiz world and would have adored Meghan too. She would have encouraged Harry to rebel against Charles and move to LA because she'd probably have been living there herself, having married a Hollywood mogul.

R93. Katherine must be the longest-living and most fertile woman with an eating disorder

by Anonymousreply 94March 25, 2023 2:26 PM

Meghan

Diana had more than her share of "sticks up their asses" royal bitches while she was married to Charles&Camilla.

Did this hypothetical Diana ever get treatment for her borderline personality disorder?

If not, then it would depend on the day. She very possibly would have resented both of them for becoming the most important women in her sons' lives. She already was turning Will into her cathected partner-figure as a teenager.

If she had gotten treatment, and early enough, then both princes possibly would have made different decisions in spouses. But even so, she'd probably empathize with Kate for being a bit of a doormat and been closer to her, but still have held Meghan in some regard for being ambitious, despite her other faults.

I can’t imagine any coexistence between Diana and Meghan. The two most colossal fame whores of the last fifty years with competing martyrdom complexes and sainthood fantasies rivalling each in hypocrisy wouldn’t have ended well

by Anonymousreply 97March 25, 2023 4:30 PM

No way would Diana like Meghan, who is so transparently insincere. I think Kate is pretentious, but she makes a good partner for William since she defers to him. Diana didn’t care about making waves for Charles, but she would if they were directed at her son. However, I don’t think Kate was good at keeping the interest of the public and that is huge. Diana was brilliant at that. We’re seeing the fall out now of people not identifying or caring about anyone in this family. It’ll be interesting to see if the same people who put tributes and pics up on IG of the Queen when she died will do the same for Charles Coronation. I suspect not.

Some people just can't let go of their sick fascination with Markle. Quite the life you lead.

by Anonymousreply 99March 25, 2023 5:45 PM

Di would have hated Kate but Meghan would never have got her foot through the door.

by Anonymousreply 100March 25, 2023 5:46 PM

This question cannot be answered. Diana didn't live past 36. She didn't live long enough to gain the life experiences that would have greatly influenced her outlook and maturity.

She also would've wanted different things for her kids than she wanted for herself. She would've wanted William to ascend the throne. She would've respected Kate for bring a good spouse to that end. And she would've supported Harry in any decision thst ensured his personal happiness. I'm just not sure he's all that happy, and I'm convinced his grifting wife will be trading up eventually.

Meghan was older than Diana when she met Harry

Some people just can't let go of their sick fascination with random internet anons who don't like Markle. Quite the life you lead, R99.

One of Meghans biggest antifan twitter accounts is Meghans Mole. If your on the royal fan sites you will know it. Also retweeted regularly by Royal Reporters. Allegedly the woman behind the account has a bench warrant out for her arrest for assaulting her partner. And that's just one of her alleged crimes. She has a large rap sheet allegedly. I can't believe the Royal Reporters use her as a source.

Kate! I think Meghan and Di would have butted heads. Two crazies in the room = chaos.

by Anonymousreply 105March 26, 2023 4:45 AM

Meghan Markle has a HUGE anus

R104 welcome to the DL, Bouzy. This isn't a Markle fanclub.

R38. Are you American? The royal family is the family of the head of state. Yes, Diana was adept at using the interest that being a member of the royal family conferred upon her (she generated no public interest whatsoever before marrying into it) to to draw attention to her mental problems, her eating disorders, her skeevy lovers, and her hypocritical complaints about being the wronged woman, but that’s not the the kind of interest the family of a head of state should be generating. Interest in the royal family may decline, but the way Diana parasitised the fame of the royal family is not a desirable alternative. Diana was nothing without the royal family and, in the end, she was nothing or less than nothing to the royal family as far as public appeal is concerned. It’s true the that the royal family may be less relevant in the future, but not because a particular crazy person who died over 25 years ago.

As much as I liked Diana, everything I’ve learned about her after her death seems to indicate she would’ve found herself in conflict with anyone her sons married.

Seeing as her death directly contributed to the types of women her sons respectively married, they wouldn’t have married Kate or Meghan had she lived. But assuming they did, Diana would’ve been highly sensitive about Kate…who seems to come from a storybook family and has always garnered a lot of positive press coverage. Meanwhile, by all accounts Harry was closest to his mother, so Meghan would’ve been treated like a rival for his attention.

by Anonymousreply 109March 26, 2023 10:31 AM

Diana would have LOATHED that cheap, grasping tart Meghan.
