In July I will be doing a group tour that starts and ends in Calgary to see Banff, Lake Louise, Jasper parks, etc. Then I have one night in Calgary on my own. I guess renting a car is best for that one day? Or can one see the city sites by using public transportation? My hotel will be downtown.

If you’re just staying downtown public transportation is great but parts of Calgary require a car. It’s very bland but I thought there were a lot to good restaurants there and it’s very safe

I would go to forest Lawn to eat. If you’re comfortable taking a city bus you can get there

I envy you, OP. I have seen Banff and Lake Louise only in winter. They are stunningly beautiful. Looking forward to returning one day.

He's going in July r4. Or are you one of those Yanks who thinks it snows in Canada in July? If so, I have some genuine Saskatchewan seal skin to sell you. Good price.
