Late 90s/Early 2000s Teen Movies

Cruel Intentions was probably the pinnacle. Ryan Phillippe’s ass confirmed to many a young gayling that they were different. Which others do you love? Or hate?

Dick is a fabulous movie, it bombed at the BO, no doubt because sleazy but repressed Americans couldn’t bring themselves to ask for “2 tickets to Dick”.

Why would you make a thread about this because of the Crazy/Beautiful thread? Why do you do things like this? It comes off crazy.

R15 are you okay? Take your meds.

Anyone who wants to dissect Crazy/Beautiful please go to R15 ‘s very specific thread on it, linked below. They’ll be upset if you don’t.

DO NOT discuss Crazy/Beautiful here!

by Anonymousreply 26March 18, 2023 3:02 AM

R26 you’re obviously insane. I posted a few times to comment on other posts until your crazy ass showed up, mad because what? This thread stole a tiny piece of thunder from your thread about that 2nd-string teen flick?

R31 you’re fucking pathetic, now you’re making shit up. What’s the core issue here?

Yeah, I was inspired by your thread to start this one. I made complimentary posts about your movie on your thread. What do you want??? The credit? I always hoped high school would be fun like in Scream, minus the murders.

by Anonymousreply 53March 18, 2023 4:29 AM

I dont think so R52..not alot of teen films came out between 95 and 98...98 seemed to be the big teen year.

Oh yeah, that was my mom’s favorite movie as a teen. She had posters of it all over her room. And then she moved on to Scream with its posters. I guess she was a big naive camel fan.

by Anonymousreply 65March 18, 2023 5:16 AM

R65 holy shit, how old are you?

by Anonymousreply 66March 18, 2023 5:36 AM

r66 I'm guessing early 20s.

If mom was a teen in 1996 (i.e. 17) she could've had them when she was 21 (birth year 2000) which would make them 22 or 23.

Yep. The 9/11 babies are all adults, now. Craziness.

by Anonymousreply 67March 18, 2023 5:39 AM

R67 I don’t like it. I hear they don’t bathe well.

by Anonymousreply 68March 18, 2023 5:42 AM

I bet R65 ‘s mom was a skank who listened to Korn and wore baggy clothes. She probably wore black lipstick, skipped Bio and sucked off skaters behind the gym, she probably munched a cooch or two. Big pothead, smoked cigs and drank a lot. Bad grades and discipline issues. Now she plays dress up as a semi-proper adult in yoga pants with Kendra Scott earrings on.

Ask your whore mom if that sounds right?

by Anonymousreply 72March 18, 2023 6:12 AM

by Anonymousreply 73March 18, 2023 6:13 AM

Halloween H20 was the movie Jamie Lee Curtis should’ve won her Oscar for, and far superior to the boring prequel from 1978 or it’s shitty remake in 2018.

I think some people cope with their QUICKLY impending mortality by obsessing over belittling younger generations

by Anonymousreply 83March 18, 2023 5:33 PM

r83 True. Statistically, suicide rates are higher in older generations, especially if they're male and over 75. I guess that demographic is the most miserable and angry at the world.

Anyone taking comments on a random website seriously should get a psych evaluation.

by Anonymousreply 85March 18, 2023 5:58 PM

Cherry Falls is another good one in the Scream teen slasher era with Brittany Murphy up against a psycho killing virgins. It never played theatrically and went straight to USA Network, so most people don't remember it these days.

by Anonymousreply 86March 18, 2023 6:04 PM

R86 never heard of it, but will check it out

by Anonymousreply 87March 18, 2023 6:08 PM

R86 I was in high school when I saw the promos for it on USA. I watched it and loved it right even though the version was edited. Several years later, I remember one of the preminum cable channels aired the unedited version for awhile.

by Anonymousreply 88March 18, 2023 11:05 PM

Sugar&Spice (2001) is another forgotten teen movie. It was a black comedy about a pregnant teenager and her cheerleader friends who rob a bank. The inspiration was based on a group of teens who robbing business in the late 90s in Texas. Lona Williams who wrote Drop Dead Gorgeous wrote the original script. The studio cut out a couple of violent scenes and Williams took issue with that and her name removed from the credits. The pseudonym "Mandy Nelson" was used for credits.
