NCAA FINALS 2023

I didn't see a thread so I thought I would start one.

Things are moving right ahead and the boys are working hard to entertain us.

My favorite game so far was last night's Iowa Loss! I cannot believe there is NO criticism of Iowa coach giving his son Connor a scholarship for SIX years - he offered him his first one while Connor was still in High School. And the Covid portal has kept him on two MORE YEARS.

He is a middling player at best. Of course we still have scholarship son Patrick for another season....and two more McCaffrey sons coming up (one in high school who will no doubt be offered a scholarship during his senior year....and a boy in Jr. High.......).

None of them are really outstanding players. Last night at the end of the game Connor was bawling and moaning because his college career is finally over. My guess is he'll be back next year on his father's coaching staff.

Rant over.

Tonight: Purdue!

by Anonymousreply 73March 22, 2023 2:22 AM

Hmmmm.....I guess no one else is interested. That's okay.

by Anonymousreply 1March 17, 2023 11:36 PM

I knew Arizona would lose early without a decent point guard. I'm hoping UCLA can work out another magical run down two starters.

by Anonymousreply 2March 18, 2023 12:21 AM

Go Cats!

by Anonymousreply 3March 18, 2023 12:24 AM

This should have been a poll, so 90% could vote Vivian Vance.

by Anonymousreply 4March 18, 2023 12:39 AM

I hate Duke. That is all.

by Anonymousreply 5March 18, 2023 1:01 AM

Purdue?

Purdon’t!!!!

by Anonymousreply 6March 18, 2023 1:10 AM

Go Guyjackers!

by Anonymousreply 7March 18, 2023 1:16 AM

Down goes #1 seed Purdue!

by Anonymousreply 8March 18, 2023 1:17 AM

Purdue loses to Fairly Ridiculous University.

by Anonymousreply 9March 18, 2023 1:35 AM

They should be forced to play shirtless. Then I’d watch.

by Anonymousreply 10March 18, 2023 1:42 AM

The coach for Princeton is a hot daddy.

by Anonymousreply 11March 18, 2023 1:47 AM

Glad I switched over from the Kentucky game to watch fdu/Purdue. Purdue couldn't do anything right. How do you the big 10 player of the year only take one in the last 12 minutes of a one and done game. Last year I was on reddit and there was a comment by a Purdue fan who hated Matt painter. I pointed out they kept Gene keady around for decades and he never got them to the final four. Looks like painter may be another keady. He has underperformed in March.

by Anonymousreply 12March 18, 2023 1:53 AM

DAMN! I missed that upset! I got distracted with the women's tourney!

by Anonymousreply 13March 18, 2023 2:58 AM

While I don’t think Purdue was worthy of the 1-seed, FDU has put on two very impressive Tournament performances.

by Anonymousreply 14March 18, 2023 3:29 AM

Yes......Painter saw exactly what FDU was doing in the first quarter and didn't change a damned thing.

So goodbye, Boilermakers! Sad.

CBS - Crotch Boy Shot - is doing the best at showing us some nice crotch and butt shots with TNT - Tight Nuts Taint - a close second.

by Anonymousreply 15March 18, 2023 5:03 PM

Who’s in that pic, R10?

by Anonymousreply 16March 18, 2023 5:06 PM

Princeton is all white?

by Anonymousreply 17March 18, 2023 10:38 PM

Fun to see some upsets spoil brackets right away.

by Anonymousreply 18March 18, 2023 11:26 PM

All the brackets on ESPN are fucked

by Anonymousreply 19March 18, 2023 11:28 PM

Will 3 #1 seeds be out before the Sweet Sixteen?

by Anonymousreply 20March 19, 2023 12:08 AM

#1 seed and defending champ Kansas just went down to #16 Arkansas (the "hogs") - by a single point.

by Anonymousreply 21March 19, 2023 12:12 AM

R17, it has some blacks. These guys are super smart plus super athletic.

by Anonymousreply 22March 19, 2023 12:51 AM

That made my week, r21. I loathe KU.

by Anonymousreply 23March 19, 2023 12:59 AM

Purdue has now lost to a double-digit seed in three consecutive NCAA tournaments

2021 - L to 13-seed North Texas

2022 - L to 15-seed St. Peter's (Sweet 16)

2023 - L to 16-seed Fairleigh Dickinson

by Anonymousreply 24March 19, 2023 1:06 AM

BUT THEY’RE BIG10 AND MATTER MORE!

by Anonymousreply 25March 19, 2023 1:34 AM

R24 they weren't out played - they were out coached.

Fairleigh Dickinson coach is a weird hyperactive guy with a gorilla face.....I'm not sure if he has a speech impediment or is on something.....

They're playing on TRU tv tomorrow night at 7:45 ESDT......give it watch to see his reactions.....

by Anonymousreply 26March 19, 2023 3:18 AM

Princeton makes the sweet 16 for the first time since 1967!

by Anonymousreply 27March 19, 2023 4:37 AM

Here are the Princeton players and coach at the press conference -- all handsome fellows. Coach was a Princeton ball player.

by Anonymousreply 28March 19, 2023 5:50 AM

I'm not into basketball at all, but saw the end of the Princeton game in the gym locker room. They were interviewing I guess the lead player and the coach. Princeton is hot! I was so excited for their win. The coach is super hot as well. I'm going to be watching them. The whole team is very cute.

by Anonymousreply 29March 19, 2023 6:16 AM

Xavier game on now. Colby jones is gorgeous.

by Anonymousreply 30March 19, 2023 4:43 PM

Marquette game is on now. Tyler Kolek is gorgeous.

by Anonymousreply 32March 19, 2023 9:53 PM

Saint Mary's with five white players is just so... anachronistic. Weird.

by Anonymousreply 33March 19, 2023 10:35 PM

Marquette - Mich St is getting good.

And the camera guy keeps catching a HOT Marquette fan in the stands.

by Anonymousreply 34March 19, 2023 11:17 PM

R33, 4 of the 5 starters of Princeton's team are white guys.

by Anonymousreply 35March 20, 2023 1:06 AM

UConn is on a tear.

by Anonymousreply 36March 20, 2023 1:26 AM

Final Four Prediction: Alabama, Houston, UCLA, Kansas St

UCLA wins it all

by Anonymousreply 37March 20, 2023 1:47 AM

I had Baylor versus ucla in the final. Baylor lost tonight so my atrocious bracket continues to sink further.

I worry UCLA's injury woes will sink them. Too bad because healthy, they have good balance and great defense.

by Anonymousreply 38March 20, 2023 4:15 AM

R31 I've been lusting after him all season. Hot

by Anonymousreply 39March 20, 2023 4:18 AM

Marquette's coach was HOT! The fade haircut, the 5 o clock shadow, the dad athleisurewear hiding a TIGHT body.

by Anonymousreply 40March 20, 2023 10:59 AM

R37 fuck you and the horse you’ll soon ride out of town in…let’s see how many NCAA titles Ucla wins as part of the Big 10… must feel strange that your school’s entire athletic program was led by the nose as U$C’s second banana.

by Anonymousreply 41March 20, 2023 12:31 PM

R22 is super naive about how super Princeton is

by Anonymousreply 42March 20, 2023 12:33 PM

Princeton!!!

Florida Atlantic!!!!

Boys!!!!

Of course with the Covid protocol, some of the players are 25 years old......

MEN!!!!

by Anonymousreply 43March 20, 2023 3:37 PM

R41 Ahem, did you see what BIG 10 did in the tournament this year? ACC, Big 12 all have more successful post seasons. UCLA will help restore prestige to BIG 10 basketball.

Having said that, I'm not happy being in a league where we have to travel to Rutgers to play FB instead of rivals like WA and Oregon. Better restaurants in Palo Alto than West Lafayette.

by Anonymousreply 44March 20, 2023 4:04 PM

Jay Bilas says Connecticut is playing the best ball in the tourney thus far. Hard to hard with that.

by Anonymousreply 45March 20, 2023 4:56 PM

Jay always knows where to find the boys and the balls.

by Anonymousreply 46March 20, 2023 8:56 PM

I am loving these cute white boys killing it. I have only love for the traditionally majority black powerhouses which is why it is so fun to see these boys go to the top. It's rare, even genetically. Maybe what they are saying is true about gen z having the biggest cocks because of the all the hormones in foods. Maybe that goes for height, too.

by Anonymousreply 47March 21, 2023 1:18 AM

R42 must be be resentful he didn't have the smarts to get into an Ivy League school. Well, at least I did.

by Anonymousreply 48March 21, 2023 2:11 AM

Actually, I was accepted at an Ivy—I turned the offer down in favor of my flagship public school. ….At a fraction of the cost.

by Anonymousreply 49March 21, 2023 2:17 AM

[quote]Actually, I was accepted at an Ivy—I turned the offer down in favor of my flagship public school. ….At a fraction of the cost.

F.I.T. is NOT an Ivy, except to the dizzy queens that attend.

by Anonymousreply 50March 21, 2023 3:39 AM

It must have been a poor Ivy if they didn’t offer you a scholarship.

by Anonymousreply 51March 21, 2023 4:46 AM

Duke is out, both men and women, so everything's good.

by Anonymousreply 52March 21, 2023 5:10 AM

Duke REALLY sucks

by Anonymousreply 53March 21, 2023 5:17 AM

At least we all agree about Duke.

by Anonymousreply 54March 21, 2023 5:34 AM

Duke out. Kentucky out. Kansas out. North Carolina never made it in.

And there was a wide-spread media comment about this tournament - "all the Blue Bloods are out!!"

Ahem... UCLA w/ 11 national championships. UConn w/ 4 national championships since 1999.

Also, given DL's obsession with plastic surgery, seems like on this thread we should remark on the astonishing facial surgery on that crook Rick Pitino, who has just moved from Iona (let's see if he can stay out of jail) to St. John's (now he can break more laws).

Rip Rip Rip the Chipmunks off the field!

by Anonymousreply 56March 21, 2023 6:29 PM

Darn, poor Iona. I always feel sorry for those "feeder schools."

by Anonymousreply 57March 21, 2023 7:12 PM

Groundhogs!!!

by Anonymousreply 58March 21, 2023 7:12 PM

When was the last time NYC saw real college basketball with one of their schools? Has it ever seen college football?

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 59March 21, 2023 7:18 PM

The closest they come is when UConn plays at MSG. It’s like a home game.

by Anonymousreply 60March 21, 2023 8:06 PM

Remember "ABD"?

Anyone but duke!

by Anonymousreply 61March 21, 2023 8:17 PM

I have a good friend who went to Duke and roots hard for the men’s and women’s teams. I haven’t the heart to say what I think of Duke.

Though Kara Lawson, who coached the women, is quite likable. That’s because she didn’t go there so lacks the arrogance.

by Anonymousreply 62March 21, 2023 8:39 PM

Anyone but Duke?

There’s the Evil Axis of college sports, in no particular order:

Duke

U$C

Notre Dame

$tanford

by Anonymousreply 63March 21, 2023 9:27 PM

I only hate Notre Dame in football. I never really think about them the rest of the year.

by Anonymousreply 64March 21, 2023 9:42 PM

Can we start a petition to please bring back the short shorts in basketball?

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 65March 21, 2023 9:57 PM

Stanford isn’t really a factor outside women’s basketball. I’d add in Alabama.

by Anonymousreply 66March 21, 2023 10:00 PM

Miami Hurricanes made it to Sweet 16 again. Last year they got to the Elite 8. Hope the upsets continue.

by Anonymousreply 67March 21, 2023 10:05 PM

R66. Um, I hate to say it—Stanford has the “winningest” overall record for NCAA D-I sports. They are followed by Ucla, Usc, and California (Berkeley).

by Anonymousreply 68March 21, 2023 10:26 PM

^By that, I mean total NCAA / collegiate championships, team or individual.

by Anonymousreply 69March 21, 2023 10:27 PM

"..... must be be resentful he didn't have the smarts to get into an Ivy League school."

Me either. But Trump got in.

by Anonymousreply 70March 21, 2023 10:30 PM

[quote]Stanford has the “winningest” overall record for NCAA D-I sports.

OK but nobody cares about co-ed tiddlywinks championships from the Forties.

by Anonymousreply 71March 21, 2023 10:36 PM

R71 UCLA was leader until the last decade or so.... so it's not "old time" Furd. And it's Men's volleyball, Men's water polo, and a bunch of women's sports.

by Anonymousreply 72March 21, 2023 11:29 PM

R59 we saw real college basketball with CCNY, and real college football with Fordham, and that was before I was born.
