I love dogs but unless they are a service animal, they need to stay at home. They also need to be leashed in public areas. Too many dog owners are absolute raging narcissists who are irresponsible and entitled. They don't care about dogs at all. Because if they did they'd understand that DOGS ARE NOT PEOPLE. They are a completely different species from mankind and have different needs. Dogs do not belong in crowded and narrow spaces where they can become anxious and paranoid nor do they need to be in grocery stores, restaurants and coffee shops where they can spread germs and bacteria and shed hair around food that people are going to eat.
They are doing more harm to their dogs in the long run by treating them like security blankets they need to carry around everywhere. And the ones who compared to dogs to babies and toddlers are morons. Babies and toddlers can't kill someone or someone else's dog by getting defensive or triggered and people aren't allergic to small kids.
The issue is stupid dog owners who have no consideration for other people nor consideration for how thier animal actually feels. Of course, these narcissists will deflect blame and accuse their critics of "hating dogs and being monsters." Gimme a break!

He had everything going for him - killer looks, his healthy body, I'm sure a dynamic social circle that invited him to plenty of circuit parties and trips abroad to exotic destinations, family who loved him, and a moderately successful modeling career...
And even with all of that, somehow, he still wasn't satisfied with his existence and felt ending it was better? How unfortunate.

The article also mentioned Jeff’s concern about social issues like gun massacres on campus

by Anonymous | reply 113 | March 16, 2023 8:32 AM |
When families say someone couldn't have committed suicide as they saw them in very good spirits just the day before, it means that they have no idea what goes in the mind of a suicidal person. In fact a person who has already taken the decision to commit suicide will be in a much better mood than they had been in a long long time, as the decision to end your life lifts a considerable weight off their shoulder and they know that their unendurable pain is about to end.
That is why you have to monitor closely those who have been depressed for a long time suddenly get back on their feet, for no particular reason, and welcome social functions and family events that they had avoided for years, smiling, as it may also be a sign that the final, irrevocable decision has been made. And you have to be especially wary of depressed people who on top of their newly regained chirpiness suddenly start to give valuable gifts left and right. It might be a further sign that the person has made the decision to end their life.
On top of that and in the words of Six Feet Under: "never underestimate the power of denial". Which we all know happens to be the first step in the process of grieving and the state the whole family finds itself right now and for at least a couple of weeks to a couple of years, depending on how fast each member of the family can go through the process.

R114 That's very much true. I witnessed it first hand with a close friend about a decade ago. He had just helped his ex move to another state for a new job and I picked him up at the train station when he returned. He seemed so light and in a great mood.
He had borrowed the novel, Mrs. Dalloway, from his ex and read it on the train ride home. I don't know shit about Virginia Woolf and the only thing I knew about that novel is that it's considered a classic.
That was around mid-May and a few weeks later in early June, he hanged himself. It was the most fucked up thing that our friend group experienced. Subsequently, that friend group sort of just drifted apart after it happened, and we barely talk anymore.

From his brother Skylar Ray Thomas’s Facebook:
Skylar Ray Thomas is with Jeff Thomas. 12 March at 04:36 · Dear friends and family,
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of my brother, Jeff on Wednesday, March 8th. As you have followed through the years, Jeff traveled the world and lived life to the fullest. What you may not know, is Jeff struggled with addiction and mental health challenges, which ultimately led to his tragic passing.
While Jeff's struggles were difficult, we want to remember him for the kind and caring person he was. He had a contagious sense of humor, a love for music, art and family, and a passion for helping others. He touched the lives of so many people, and his memory will live on in our hearts forever.
As a family, we hope that Jeff's passing can serve as a reminder of the importance of seeking help for mental health and addiction issues. We also ask that you honor or celebrate him respectfully in social media and encourage anyone who may be struggling to reach out for support, and to know that they are not alone in their struggles.
Today, we celebrate Jeff's life and to mourn his passing. We thank you all for your love and support during this difficult time, and we ask that you continue to keep Jeff and our family in your thoughts and prayers. We will be honoring his life soon with a memorial service and will communicate those details to everyone when available.

R172: he looks pretty natural and unfiltered in this pic from r149
Although the fact that it was first posted by his brother Skylar on Facebook might have something to do with the lack of filters, but still

by Anonymous | reply 184 | March 24, 2023 3:09 AM |
R180 Thanks for sharing. I'm sorry for Jeff's untimely passing and the loved ones he leaves behind who are mourning his loss. That being said, after reading that article it's much harder for me to feel much sympathy for Jeff.
“If I’m gonna give up the relationships I have and give up my dreams right now, during Covid, or dating other guys or pursuing people, then I’m going to get a $300,000 car and I’m going to get a $13 million home (on Franklin Avenue in Hollywood Hills). So those are the things that I see fit for me to give up my freedom.”
Just another gay pretty boy of weak moral character who freely chose to use his looks and body as currency to live an outsized life of luxury on someone else's dime for several years. And in this case, the "someone else" is plainly a soulless, empathy-free vessel who has no problem selling out our rights for a tax cut because, hey, when you're obscenely rich in America no one can ever really take away YOUR rights. Gross.
by Anonymous | reply 185 | March 24, 2023 3:39 AM |
I'm not shocked, because my spidy sense was correct about Jeff's M.O. from the start. But the tale finally told is the full blown lurid genre where one party dies. RIP

What a shallow piece of price-tag-brained shit Thomas was.

So you learn that he was Peter Thiel's kept lover and suddenly all you see in his photos is contaminated nuclear waste. Yuk!
by Anonymous | reply 190 | March 24, 2023 8:38 AM |
Meh I nailed it at R24 and R33. Let's just say I've been around and I'm not naive.
by Anonymous | reply 191 | March 24, 2023 8:59 AM |
R186. Well that explains it. Being forced to continually tolerate and physically be in contact with Thiel... no wonder he jumped.
by Anonymous | reply 192 | March 24, 2023 10:02 AM |
I had a slightly more empathy for him when I thought he was just an aging rent boy with a drug problem who couldn't deal with getting older.
Now we find out he was the kept man of Peter Thiel, who will probably turn out to be the modern-day version of Roy Cohn, given everything he's doing to hurt gay men and lesbians. Thomas did not care about any of that. He says that he tried to sway Thiel, but in the end, his mansion was more important than any of that.
Thomas was good looking enough that he could have been a fashion model, but he just wanted the mansion, yachts, and to party with celebrities.
by Anonymous | reply 193 | March 24, 2023 10:18 AM |
Oh honey do you know that time happens? There is a year. And then another year. Thomas tried to be a model and failed. He didn't just want the rent boy life, he fell into it in his 20s to make ends meet as he tried and failed other careers, pursued for over a decade. Thomas was 35, not 22.
by Anonymous | reply 194 | March 24, 2023 10:31 AM |
Thomas died on the 8th. Thiel was "so distraught" that less than two days later, he was on the text chain that started the run on Silicon Valley Bank.
Dead side-piece? Meh. Who cares. There's a bank that needs to be destroyed.
by Anonymous | reply 195 | March 24, 2023 10:38 AM |
What is Peter Thiel's problem? Is it just money and greed or is there some kind of sadism there as well?

by Anonymous | reply 200 | March 24, 2023 1:02 PM |
R200 Yes it does. You can't take at face value anything the family says at this point, because they're probably looking for a payout.
by Anonymous | reply 201 | March 24, 2023 1:06 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 204 | March 24, 2023 1:23 PM |
It's kind of sad that the best the family can hope for is to shake Thiel down for a bit of cash. I don't blame them for not wanting to go up against him, especially after their loss.
by Anonymous | reply 205 | March 24, 2023 1:53 PM |
They were not Jeff's dependants. Why the fuck would they be "entitled" to shake down anyone for cash over this?
by Anonymous | reply 206 | March 24, 2023 1:54 PM |
Given that the circumstances of his death [bold]may[/bold] be such that there is someone responsible who would, ordinarily, be brought to justice for it, then the family are doing all they can with the deck stacked against them.
Also, no-one mentioned "entitled", so I'm not sure why that's in quotation marks, nor did anyone say they were dependent on him.

Some DLers have puerile imaginations.
by Anonymous | reply 208 | March 24, 2023 2:05 PM |
Immediate family members probably have grounds for a wrongful death. Thiel is a rich public figure and had been keeping their family member in an arguably coercive relationship which led to his suicide. Yes, he was a 35 year old drifting from gig to gig and spending too much time at the gym, but there still may be legal grounds.
by Anonymous | reply 209 | March 24, 2023 2:48 PM |
Thiel is vile, but unless he personally shoved Thomas off that rooftop or paid someone else to do it, he bears no legal or financial responsibility for Thomas' death. The hyperbole on this thread is out of control.
by Anonymous | reply 210 | March 24, 2023 3:55 PM |

On one hand, the brother revealed that Thomas had suffered from mental health issues.
On the other, he had just broken up with Peter Thiel, who has a history of being vindictive to those who hurt him (he crushed Gawker for outing him).
So whether it turns out to be suicide or murder, I won't be surprised. We'll probably never know, anyway.
by Anonymous | reply 214 | March 25, 2023 2:57 PM |
Peter Thiel probably explained to him that according to the termination clauses in tiny characters in the middle of a hundred pages contract was that he wouldn't be able to keep any of his (Thiel's) gift or properties, because everything you have belongs to me the second our paths diverge. The gold digger thought he had it all and then he realized he was basically homeless, had burned too many bridges and he was already 35 and mostly over the hill.

R215- This is what I am thinking. Only one thing gives me pause. He was obviously very vain about his looks , his body. It just seems odd to that someone that obsessed with his looks would jump from highrise and leave a mangled corpse, but I suppose if you someone is at the point of suicide they probably don't care anymore. 🤷♀️

by Anonymous | reply 226 | March 26, 2023 3:04 AM |
R215 This is spot on.
He was a vain whore who saw his youth slipping away.
I witnessed this first hand. A buddy in my friend group killed himself just before he turned 40. He was very good looking and very shallow. He also had BPD as well as HPD, which were the two primary drivers of his mental illness.
But what really stayed with me was something he said a few weeks before he hanged himself. He talked about turning 40 as if it was a death sentence, sort of like a real life Logan's Run.
He loved to show off his hot body. I remember one Easter brunch about 15 years ago that turned out to be the first warm day of the season. We were all in the backyard just chatting around the pick nick table. He decided to strip down to his underwear and sunbathe. This is incredibly odd behavior for an Easter brunch. He knew that he would draw attention to himself by doing that.
Then a few years later, we were all having a picnic for a Labor Day bbq at a friend's cabin in the woods. He decides to, once again, strip down to his shorts and spray moss off the roof. It was not the time nor place to get on the roof and spray it down to remove moss. But he knew that he would have an audience. I was embarrassed for him and his need for attention.
Then a few months after that he hanged himself. His hot body could never fill the bottomless pit of need in his soul.

First of all, that’s not what gay baiting is, second, what do you mean leading on a gay audience? Did you think you were going to date him? Do you only support gays? Give me a break. You liked his body. He delivered that. He owes you nothing else.
