Where's Charles Dickens when you need him?
Sarah Huckabee Sanders rolls back child labor laws while depressed-looking kids watch

They're about to be sent back into the mines just to make this FAT CUNT a little bit richer.

I'm equal on this no matter what political party does this.
I'm uncomfortable when kids are used in politics.
Let kids and teenagers be pre-occupied with being kids and teenagers, and let the adults handle, and fight, or agree over, adult matters.

And before anybody throws up to me that Nancy Pelosi brought children up to the podium with her when she was sworn in as Speaker, that's different.
That was a ceremonial and ritual event, and it would have been fine if a Republican was being sworn-in and did that, too.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | March 11, 2023 7:29 PM |
Exactly, r3. Nancy doing that *benefited* the kids, this is nothing but using them for a cheap photo op. The right only cares about fetuses.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | March 11, 2023 7:40 PM |
unfucking believable.

They're not depressed, they're just hoping this doesn't cut into their lunch break.
IT WILL!

Republicans are sick fucks.

What you can't see in this picture are the grinning Victorian industrialists stood on her other side.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | March 11, 2023 8:29 PM |
This is really quite unbelievable. The bill, which she happily signed into law, eliminated the need for a simple certificate that assured that the kids who were working were permitted to work and weren’t being exploited. This means it will be easier for the corporations to cheat and employ children who are otherwise not permitted to work.
Welcome to 1883.

Can't wait for the Dems to point this out when she's up for reelection.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | March 11, 2023 8:44 PM |
I'm going to assume they shoved the bill in front of her while she was going to town on a party-sized bag of cheetos. Who is stupid enough to promote child labor in this day and age? It's not even a cultural wedge issue.

They want the US to be a third world country so bad! It’s crazy! I don’t understand the gain?

R13 If Arkansas were a country, it would be considered "lesser developed."

Bet that sow ate the last crust of bread.

Wasn't it for 16 years old and older??
by Anonymous | reply 16 | March 11, 2023 9:06 PM |
Sadly, R12, I believe that is secretly popular among her voters — though they would be hesitant to say that. The corporate overlords want to be able to exploit children. The parents who are on the lower socioeconomic rung want to return to the days when they could send their kids to work and thus bring more cash into the household. You know, like when Master Peter got his collar so he could work and supplement the meager salary that Scrooge paid to Bob Cratchit.
But, bottom line if a Rethug did it is must be good — and it probably owns the libs, which is all that matters.

Are we so desperate for cheap labor that we now must resort back to child labor?
by Anonymous | reply 18 | March 11, 2023 9:09 PM |
There are lots of meat processing plants in Arkansas. Many of the minors are immigrants who legally entered the country and are sent to live with “sponsors” who demand the kids work to earn their keep.
They work overnights and in dangerous conditions. It’s a tragedy.

by Anonymous | reply 21 | March 11, 2023 9:18 PM |
It is Arkansas. Those kids need to go out and support the family’s opioid and meth bills until the kids can go on disability at 18.

huckabee Sanders looks to Dickens fo ideas.
Apparently the GOP's desire to o back to te 50s was the 1850s not the 1950s
by Anonymous | reply 23 | March 11, 2023 9:32 PM |
It's a genius move, they're creating more and more dumb people who will later vote against their own interests.

It's true, r24. Destroy education and send the kids off to the factories.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | March 11, 2023 9:36 PM |
Jesus fucking Christ. Republicans are so evil. They can't even hide that shit.
