There is a poster on the Goldderby forums who saw Saltburn at a test screening and had some interesting things to say about it. It sounds like his character and Barry Keoghan’s have a Brideshead Revisited-style homoerotic friendship while studying at Oxford University, although it's ambiguous about whether it's an actual affair (sounds similar to the way that Brideshead was also ambiguous about whether or not Charles & Sebastian were more than just friends). Apparently at one point 'The Middle of the World' instrumental from the Moonlight soundtrack is played though, which does sound like Emerald Fennell is signalling to the audience to view it as a gay attraction at least.

I also read the book On Swift Horses is based on and it does have the potential to work well on screen. In contrast to Saltburn, this (if they are faithful to the book) is an unambiguously gay role, his character and Diego Calva's have a very intense sexual/romantic relationship in the novel, so hopefully that will not be sanitised for the film (from what Calva has said, it does sound like they will be tackling at least some of the sexual intimacy).

It was also interesting that the day this film was officially confirmed (Feb 28th), a gossip blog got briefed that he had dumped Olivia Jade a month beforehand (so midway through the shoot for this film). I had been almost expecting him to be photographed out and about with her (or linked to someone else) because February had brought news of two gay/gay-leaning roles and I wondered if his team might be getting anxious to have him seen with a woman again. So it was interesting that someone was keen to let people know they had actually split up instead.

His PR now seem to be pushing a ‘Jacob Elordi past relationships timeline’ thing around some of the gossip sites in the absence of any actual girlfriend these days. Curious if they will make more a push for him to be actually seen with a woman when these two films come out (could easily see them both premiering during the fall festival circuit) or if he will resist that to any extent. So this September might be a make or break moment for him as an actor: an opportunity of three films at the same time which could enable him to show some range and really prove he can act, or failing to do that and having to fall back on the next season of Euphoria (whenever that even happens) as a platform to get any future work.
