It’s clear to me that the hopefuls need to line up so that he can make his way down the line, grabbing each of them by the pussy, one at a time, and ultimately telling the losers that they’re fired.
When you’re a celebrity you can do that, you know.
But do his insurrectionists love him enough to vote for a woman to be one heartbeat away from the presidency of a 78-year-old man?
This could be precisely the losing strategy I would love to watch him to gamble on because nothing shrieks “lame” to his boyos quite like ceding power to a female.
In my mind, you could nominate any two random upstanding males from, say, Texas and Ohio, and slaughter Trump and any female, but my vision is too clouded by by loathing of him to be sure. I was never able to believe this country had given him access to the nuclear codes in the first place!

It won't be Nimrata - She's already running for president herself, and she quit Trump World once already. She's dead to him.
It'll be Kristi Noem. Trump only keeps around women who are competent but unfuckable (Elaine Chao, Betsy DeVos), or broads who belong on a boat show stage (Kayleigh McE, Kimberly G., Kristi Noem).

In 2024, it isn’t going to happen. He won’t go down without a fight but his base is narrowing and dying off, and young voters are not supporting the GOP. They’re going to try everything, shamelessly, but they’ll never get the votes.

Vanity Fair is correct in describing the presumable choices as "uniquely awful Republican women." Nikki Haley won't do it because she's sharp enough to understand that it is highly unlikely that Shitler can win again, and secondly, she's bound to understand clearly what happens to those who suck up to that asshole: it means certain destruction. Haley is a conniver who'll say anything to become President, she's gonna try to do it on her own hook. She hasn't got a rat's chance in hell.
The rest of these ladies are just human scum, and I'm confident that a sizeable majority of Republicans (and especially women) will be totally repulsed by each and every one of them. What about Diamonds and Silk? Can a dead black woman become Vice-President of the United States? I don't think the Constitution says anywhere that the candidate has to be alive. The idea that “leading the GOP polls” indicates some kind of lock in a national election is ludicrous. All it says is that the GOP is in trouble and they know it. Trump is going to tear the GOP to pieces either by insisting on being their election losing leader - he hasn’t won anything since 2016 and even that was a then record-breaking loss of the popular vote which was only broken further by another record-breaking loss of the popular vote in 2020 - OR by going independent and dropping them even further into an electoral wilderness.
Again, it’s not going to be easy and there will be MANY challenges along the way but the GOP has no chance of an electoral win in 2024, especially when their “next best chance” is Ron DeSantis. The GOP has lost white women, they have lost any meaningful percentage of black voters, they have lost the Jewish vote and never really had the LGBTQIA+ vote. And they’ve lost independents. While conservative media and social media LOVES these MAGA crazies, people with real concerns do not. They have just worn people out.
When the Supreme Court rules against student loan debt relief and the GOP judiciary makes abortion pills illegal - these are not vote getters. Plus, they’ll no longer be able to gerry-mander WI, which will restore the blue wall of WI, MI and likely PA.
Pointing at stupid little GOP primary polls means nothing. The reality on the ground of the GOP and their policies does.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | March 8, 2023 1:27 PM |
Another nail in Trump's oversized coffin - Tucker Carlson's fake Jan 6th episode.
Yes the base loves it.
But McTurtle, who is wise to the harmful effects of the continued lying on independent voters forcefully denounced it, as did a number of other GOP senators.
They all get that the more Trump plays to his base, the crazier he and the base sound, the easier it is for us to beat them. Because at some point every GOP candidate will be asked "do you think Jan 6th didn't happen? Do you think the election was stolen?" -- and with each passing month saying "yes" just sounds crazier and crazier.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | March 8, 2023 1:31 PM |
Well said R63
The other problem the GOP faces is that the MAGA base are blue collar whites and their economic policies are designed for the 1%
Trump's policies -- isolationism, trade restrictions, etc. are not mainstream GOP policies and so they lose the Kochs and all the big money donors
It would not surprise me to see some more moderate Republicans get together with more conservative Democrats to try and start a new version of the GOP and let Trump and the MAGA base remain fringe

Trump might pick a vp candidate but he will not win his party's nomination -- Rhonda will, after a long and bruising primary battle that will rip the GOP apart. Rhonda will won because she is younger, smarter and stronger than Trump -- but she is not more popular. Sure, she's [italic]slightly[/italic] more popular with Republican primary voters right now, but that won't carry over to the general election. Trump gets a fair amount of support from independents -- not the kind that swing blue to red but the kind who are too conservative for the Republican party.
Let that sink in.
Many of them won't vote in a GOP primary, either because they don't trust the party/the process, or because they are too stupid and lazy to get their shit together and vote in a primary, but they'll sure as shit come out and vote for Trump on Election Day in November, no matter what party he runs with or no party at all.
Trump knows this, which is while he'll announce a VP early, provided one still exists who would align with him before the GOP nomination is decided. Trump will lose the nomination, but stay on as an independent. He and his VP candidate will run third party and split the RWNJ vote. Biden will win handily, sending both Trump and Ms. Santis back to Florida in defeat.

R63, it's important to keep in mind that although Biden did very well in the popular vote, the electoral college was very close in 2020. Trump outperformed the polls again in the swing states. The election was so close in the electoral college between Biden & Trump that it took until Saturday before the networks could call it. Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Arizona & Georgia were all very close in 2020 and could be again in 2024.
Although Biden would probably be favored to beat Trump in 2024 if they are the 2 nominees, Democrats cannot get complacent owing to the fact that Republicans have a disproportionate advantage in the electoral college.

Thanks Poll Troll, yes we need to remain ever-vigilant. That night in 2016 is burned in my memory. I will never ever take anything for granted again. But I do want to point out that the race was just as close electorally in 2016 as 2020, and 2016 was decided that night. The reason the counting stretched out tour days was not because the race was necessarily close but because they were still counting absentee ballots, which had risen dramatically due to Covid.

R83, I see the Republican Party being in quite the pickle. Unless Dump concedes. And that is very unlikely, but maybe he would.
Nah.
by Anonymous | reply 84 | March 9, 2023 4:38 PM |
I can see a possible scenario where DeSantis wins some of the early primaries, but he only narrowly beats Trump and he fails to excite the crowds. Meanwhile, Trump keeps attacking DeSantis as weak and as the "elite, establishment" candidate. Eventually, the GOP (and the right-wing media like Fox News) gives up on DeSantis and reluctantly settles for Trump (similar to what happened in the 2016 primaries), partly out of the fear R80 describes that Trump might run as a third-party candidate. In the end, the GOP makes a gamble that DeSantis' supporters are more likely to back Trump than Trump's supporters are to back DeSantis.
by Anonymous | reply 85 | March 9, 2023 6:11 PM |
Ordinarily, a third party candidate would need a mountain of cash to compete. But Trump still gets more free media than anyone else in politics, so the fucker could spend primary season on his toilet and still sweep half the delegates. Can't you see it now? All those CNN segments about "The Power of Trump," and carrying his rallies for free, in real time? He never has to pay for his media attention with ads or consultants. He need only open his mouth, and broadcasters do the rest for him at their own expense.

Kari Lake looks too much like a lesbian for Trump
I does not take much of a stretch to imagine her in a sleeveless t-shirt with a tattoo on her arm working on a car in her yard
Trump has a bigger problem though: actual Republicans have figured out that MAGA-ism is a populist movement that directly contravenes many of the tenets of the Reagan-Bush GOP (isolationism, running up deficits) and so the Kochs, among others, are putting up big sums of money to defeat him and his endorsed candidates. (They also realize that Trump's Kast O'Krazys will always win GOP primaries and then lose general elections.)

R80, yes, that's a good point. COVID and the increase in the number of people voting by mail did delay the counting process. But it was still such a close election between Biden & Trump in the Electoral College. Those numbers were so close in the swing states. I remember the long, dark hours that we spent watching the numbers come in between Tuesday and Saturday. One DLer was so depressed he even said he considered suicide. : (
It could be another close race between Biden & Trump in 2024. The early 2024 matchups are showing that Trump is still competitive.

[quote]Trump lacked foreign policy experience when he ran in 2016.
Trump couldn't pass a third grade US History class. He wouldn't know the constitution if Madison himself used puppets to explain it to him.

On OP's list, only Miss Lindsey and Nikki Haley can claim having any foreign policy experience. Haley was UN Ambassador for the short-term under DJT.

Please. She was there solely on behalf of Israel. She didn't serve the US. Let me tell you how corrupt that hateful cunt truly is: There was a Palestinian up for some position within one of the UN committees and she blocked it. Even Israel itself had no objection to him because he was qualified for the position. Everyone could see she was a racist asshole for having done it. That's what happens when you have swine like Kushner and other Zionists at the helm of foreign policy. Nothing American about them.

Trump should consider the hard right trans version of Candace Owens, Blair White. Her last name fits.

Please, please let Trump have a televised beauty pagent/Apprentice reality show competition with this parade of right wing hags fighting it out to be his VP. I'd pay cash money to see that.

It will not be Lake, MTG, or Haley. All of these three have national notoriety that could upstage him, and Lake in particular is much more telegenic and well-spoken than Trump when spewing the MAGA bile. Trump's narcissism could NEVER tolerate any of this, especially being perceived as second fiddle to a woman.
Noem is a nobody with zero charisma, I don't see her adding anything to his ticket. I could see him picking newly elected Governor Huckabeast as his running mate. She's ugly -- uglier than even he is (and that's really saying something) -- so there's no risk of her looks eclipsing him. She's also subservient to his cult's mission and grotesquely effective at peddling his lies.

But she has a pussy that Trump would eagerly grab, while he shoves his tongue down her throat, up against a Mar-a-Lago wall. Isn't that his MO?

Trump only sees women for their sex appeal. Kristi Noem is a terrible candidate with legal troubles that would make Michael Jackson blush, but she's hot (for a politician), so Trump loves her.
Kari Lake is too old for Trump, plus he only gets with winners.

R12 is right. Trump wants an attractive woman who will be seen and not heard, content to remain in the background. A VP Melania or a Mike Pence with a vagina. I don't know who fits that bill.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders? Secure in her first term Governor’s job. Fat. Nope.
Kari Lake? Old lying’ huz. Crave attention. Clingy. Nope.
MTG? Nope.
Boebert? No.
Elise Stefanik? Won’t take the risk. Has House leadership job.
Palin? Has been. Loser.
Kristi Noem? If she’ll take it.
Miss Lindsey? She’ll get booed by the MAGAs.
Kellyanne? Domestic turmoil.

She grew up in SC so there's no way in hell she wouldn't have Americanized her name, you can embrace your heritage in private while also assimilating in public. Trump will never pick her as a running mate.

Nimrata as SC Governor delivered a mess. Hired cronies, some were quite incompetent. The Department of Social Services was an appalling example. Roads got worse, public education became more dismal, environmental protection was near non-existent. Land developers got their multimillionaire.

r80 The night of 2016 is burned in your brain? How about the night of 2020 when ABC's poll showing a Biden lead of 18 points evaporated and we ended up waiting for a 4am vote total near the city/college town to retake the lead?
Trump took multiple states that were arguably in play with incredible ease. He won Ohio by the same amount as he beat Hillary by even though Biden was supposedly a much more appealing candidate in that state than she was. Trump won North Carolina and dragged a Republican senator across the line (who never led in a poll was was widely expected to lose despite the Dem challenger's own issues). Trump won Florida by 5 points after beating Hillary by 1. In fairness, the Biden campaign seemed to know they would lose Ohio and Florida but polls showed Biden could pull them off--instead, he sunk on election day.
Biden won by 50-100k votes in the electoral college. It could so easily swing back. And as we saw in 2016 AND 2020, the polls are useless. Trump overperforms them by up to 10 points (or 17 points in that awful Wisconsin poll the weekend before election day). There were polls showing Trump 5-8

Lindzebelle gets booed in her home county. She, of course, hasn’t been back there since. Returning to her home area was very infrequent for years anyway.
On the other hand, she still treks to Mar-a-Lago (and Bedminster) for extended weekend and holidays.
Her actions are baffling.

It will probably be Noem. Here's a video from 2018 of Trump meeting with the governors elect with Noem sitting next to him. In Trump's view, Noem was the only ok looking woman there that day and he probably requested that she sit next to him. Ron DeSantis comes off as a total ass licker and it's fun to look at this video and see how times have changed.

Elise Stefanik is so hungry for this. She’s scrubbing her old social media posts where she condemned the J6 insurrectionists and says that she’s not certain she would certify the 2024 election if Trump doesn’t win. However, she may not be good looking enough for Trump because he’s that shallow.

If it's a woman, it can only be Kari Lake (but I understand that he doesn't find her so hot after all as she lost the governorship and seems to like the limelight a little too much to his liking), Nancy Mace (but only Nancy Mace believes it's going to happen) or of course Kristi Noem, with the latter one a huge favorite. Lindseybelle and Timmybelle are also on the short list but they're both going to be a hard sell for the MAGAts.
And poor old Lise Stefanik thinks it's cute to wear a pink Chanel suit on a 80-110-110 frame, and you know there will be no happy ending at the end of her ultra-MAGA tunnel, even if, and I think especially if, she announces that she's only ever been able to come if she thinks of Trump's gorgeous face, Trump's ripped body and Trump's shroom-shaped giant lil' buddy.
