I loved Thelma’s song “Oh Raytown”.

by Anonymousreply 1March 6, 2023 6:40 PM

Sonja was a total dud

by Anonymousreply 2March 6, 2023 6:42 PM

I liked the episode where Thelma works as a receptionist at Raytown travel

They cut Eunice’s part in the community play and Mama can’t believe she’s standing for it. Lol

I loved the episode where Naomi got mad at Vinton for smacking Bubba's keister too much.

by Anonymousreply 9March 6, 2023 7:47 PM

Anyone else like this show other than the trolls who stink up Mama’s Family threads who goon to Bubba?

by Anonymousreply 10March 6, 2023 9:40 PM

r5

that is one of my favorite eps

by Anonymousreply 11March 7, 2023 12:12 AM

I cannot get the theme song off loop in my brain

by Anonymousreply 12March 7, 2023 12:22 AM

I am on a MF binge today! Blasting the theme song loud out of sound bar

by Anonymousreply 13March 7, 2023 9:03 PM

I’d give anything if Food Circus was a real grocery store. I’d do all of my shopping there and only go through Naomi’s checkout lane.

by Anonymousreply 14March 15, 2023 12:27 AM

I went shopping at the Galoraya mall

by Anonymousreply 15November 2, 2024 9:21 PM

Too pricey for me. I'll stick to Ray-Mart.

by Anonymousreply 16November 2, 2024 9:36 PM

Why is there no MommaCon or RaytownFest?

by Anonymousreply 17November 2, 2024 9:40 PM

I condole Vicki on the recent loss of her husband, Al. Saw her last night on an episode of "Lopez vs Lopez." and she looks pretty good for a 75 year old. I think she would be great in a reboot of the series.

by Anonymousreply 18November 2, 2024 11:34 PM

I’m watching it on Pluto TV. Mama found a Casanova magazine under Bubba’s mattress.

by Anonymousreply 19November 12, 2024 12:10 AM

I caught a few episodes over the weekend during the marathon on catchy tv.

by Anonymousreply 20November 12, 2024 12:20 AM

Momma would have voted blue but the rest of the family. . .

by Anonymousreply 21November 12, 2024 1:17 AM

Iola’s invalid mother - much like Hyacinth Bucket’s possibly gay son Sheridan shared at least one thing in common.

by Anonymousreply 23November 12, 2024 1:25 AM

The Rashomama episode was the best show of the original network run.

by Anonymousreply 24November 12, 2024 1:36 AM

Just saw an episode where they were eating at the Bigger Jigger rib night all you can eat for $4.99. Iola had only one order and Thelma complained that she needed three to beat the house. Those were the days.

by Anonymousreply 26November 12, 2024 1:42 AM

Mama appears on Jeopardy. There’s also an episode with the family on Family Feud.

This is no time for this only marginally funny sit-com.

R30, do you know what you get when you put your brain and my brain together?

My brain

by Anonymousreply 31November 12, 2024 2:59 AM

Mama is MAGA.

by Anonymousreply 32November 12, 2024 3:00 AM

Mama’s too smart to be hoodwinked by a character like Trump. Vint, seeing as he lived in his mother’s basement would probably pretend to love him in front of the his buddies then reply with a sad “Yes, Mama” when Thelma dresses him down. OG series Naomi knew his type all to well and would be anti, but syndication Naomi would be on board. Bubba I’m on the fence about, since he was getting his education and had a reform school background, hopefully he’d be Never Trump Republican at least. Iola would be anti because he’s so vulgar but Mother would be a full bore Q-Anon conspiracist. Buzz would be anti but Sonja would think it’s cool and unique to be MAGA. Aunt Fran would definitely be against. Eunice and Ed would be MAGA. Ellen would be a country club Republican who held her nose and voted for him but would think he’s tacky. Aunt Effie would be anti. Tiffany Thelma would probably be pro-Trump mainly because she was born in a RV parked in her grandmother’s driveway.

by Anonymousreply 33November 12, 2024 3:52 AM

R30 is that tub of lard roselle huplander

by Anonymousreply 34November 12, 2024 3:57 AM

Another excellent episode is the one with Iola meeting a "new best friend." Surprisingly, Mama gets jealous of the friendship but has them both over for high tea. Mama learns that the new best friend is anxious to get rid of Iola, who is suffocating her with her constant presence. Arlene listens to Mama's advice and is honest with Iola which hurts Iola's feelings deeply. Beverly Archer will break your heart in her reply. Happily, the whole thing is resolved in the end and the extra bonus is we get to see Bubba's great legs.

The late, great Mary Pat Gleason plays Arlene Madison.

I watch 2 hrs of Mama’s Family on Pluto TV every evening

by Anonymousreply 36November 20, 2024 11:57 PM

I’ve been watching a lot of Carol Burnett the past couple of weeks. It helps.

But every time The Family skit comes on I swear I think I’m watching the genesis of MAGA.

by Anonymousreply 37November 21, 2024 12:34 AM

R37 you sound like an uptight gay wad

by Anonymousreply 38November 21, 2024 12:53 AM

This evening's episode was the appearance of Cousin Lydia also played by Lawrence.

It was so GRAND!

by Anonymousreply 39November 21, 2024 1:51 AM

Mary Pat Gleason - another performer who spent time acting (and writing) on Guiding Light.

by Anonymousreply 40November 21, 2024 4:07 AM

Honestly, I’ve been thinking about getting the DVD set for Christmas for myself. CMT has got where they only run Mama’s Family once or twice a week and I still don’t think I’ve seen every episode.
