Sea Monkeys

Sea Monkeys are brine shrimp eggs that can remain encased in granules of salt for decades on a shelf at Spencer's Gifts until a pet owner mixes them in liquid creating "Instant Life"

Did you have these household pets that share the same prep time with Top Ramen?

It's creepy how they seem to jump for joy with arms outstretched the moment they are born

So funny, R3. I was just watching that same video.

I first saw those things at a place called Old Chicago, which was a giant mall with an indoor amusement park. I was about 13 and I thought they were real monkeys and I was horrified! I didn't find out until gears later that they were shrimp.

Sir, if any of my circuits or gears will help, I'll gladly donate them.

I had a couple that I received for my 5th birthday, they lived until I left home for college. I eventually had t get a 100 gallon aquarium, they became huge, and they're quite aggressive.

Seapeople + Semen = Seasociety

My theory of composite dynamics.

I remember watching that episode on South Park, r8.

Why am I getting pedo vibes from OP’s post?

by Anonymousreply 10March 3, 2023 6:40 AM

r7 Aggressive in what way? They fight each other? Or were they trying to get you when you were feeding them?

by Anonymousreply 11March 3, 2023 6:43 AM

I'm surprised there hasn't been a fried sea monkey sandwich craze yet

They inspired one of the best Pixies songs, so they got that goin' for 'em.

I saw the cloning

Of the famous family

I hear the droning

In the shrine of the sea monkey

I let the guy who invented these, or at least brought them to market. Quite a character.

by Anonymousreply 14March 4, 2023 12:42 AM

Si they're not real monkeys then?

by Anonymousreply 15March 4, 2023 12:46 AM

You can always tell when a shrimp is constipated with its translucent digestive tract

I got my sea monkeys today! Very excited. When I was a kid they didn't work out, nor did the x ray specs and I never did get rich off selling Grit Magazine. I have to leave the tiny tank overnight with purifier in it and tomorrow I add the eggs!

Sea monkeys are TRANS!

by Anonymousreply 18April 6, 2023 10:21 PM

Do you have to feed them daily like fish?

by Anonymousreply 19April 6, 2023 10:25 PM

R19 Not yet, I just put the eggs in today, depending on the weather they could hatch any time, it's warm here so hopefully within the next few days. Then five days later, I feed them. I hope they hatch soon.
