It’s not really about Selena being some kind of fragile victim as it is about her just being a better person with more depth. She has never bullied anyone on social media, she is an advocate for removing the stigma around mental illness/struggles and she has been open about her own struggles with that. She released a documentary about her life where she doesn’t always come across as likable because she wants her fans to know she is flawed and her life isn’t always perfect.

That she can hold her own and dish out as much meanness as Hailey and company dish out to her is a given. She wouldn’t have survived working in the industry she is in if she wasn’t tough as hell. But overall, she conducts herself with maturity and is thoughtful about what kind of role model she wants to be to the fans that look up to her.
