Only way the Austin character can be salvaged is to pair him with Ava AND turn him bad. If he helped Nik escape in exchange for help with his boss lady problems that would be interesting and leaves the door open for Nik to return. When Nik returns and Ava realizes Austin betrayed her, she can exact revenge.

Only way to salvage dull as dishwater Finn is to have it revealed he's in cahoots with Austin and the mild mannered doctor leads a double life. He said yesterday "Nik skipped town", build on that.

I still think Cousin Mason is involved with the Nik situation, too. When we last saw him, he was already in the process of following Ava to Spoon Island, yet somehow Austin got there first. Maybe he witnessed them fumbling around with Nik's "body" and decided it would be a great thing to hold over Austin to make him toe the line and ditto for Ava since she had been getting kind of mouthy and low-key threatening with him.

GH is becoming more ridiculous than Passions.

The first 15 minutes on Tuesday, especially the scenes between Finn, Nina and "Aunt Liesl", were pure farce.

They are definetely moving past the Austin-Maxie pairing. In the hospital room, Felicia didn't even mention that Maxie would be relieved to find out that Austin survived his hook attack

I just remembered something from a few years back: Wasn't there a secret room under the stables at Wyndemere where Anna and Robert were holding Faison captive? Betcha any money that's where Nik is holed up right now. He probably regained consciousness and went there on his own, just to fuck with Ava. Maybe he'll stick around and play little tricks to torment her, like ghostly haunting type stuff. Or get his revenge by setting her up for his "murder" while he sneaks off to hide out halfway across the globe.

So, as I suspected, Cousin Mason has Fredo Cassadine in his custody. The question is, then, what's his goal? Would anyone care enough to pay a ransom for his sorry, sniveling, weak ass? Victor has other problems to deal with right now and seemed quite happy to be rid of his messy dramas. Is this why they're suddenly having Spencer feel all kinds of guilty about driving away his poor papa? He'd be an easy mark. Or, if the lady boss Mason and Austin answer to is really Olivia Jerome, as speculated, maybe it's leverage for keeping Ava in line. She may see her as a legitimate threat, being the only other living Jerome left of the family dynasty.

The Nik is dead again storyline helps drive new couple Ava and Austin together. Also, once it's more known that Ava is accused of killing him, it will drive a wedge between "supercouple" Spencer and Trina over defending Ava.

The gaslighting "ghost"-ing of Eileen has got to be one of the worst storylines in years!! I wonder if they had to do extensive retakes because the actors couldn't stop laughing at their dialogue.

I can imagine Genie complaining, "You'd never get away with making Tony Geary do this dreck!"

The only pairing that works at all for Maxie anymore is Spinelli, and that only works because of the long history and his dweeby devotion to her. Rebecca did a short film about postpartum depression. Michael Easton directed and the film won some award. Rebecca suffered from postpartum for 3 1/2 years and Michael Easton was only co-worker who sensed something was wrong and asked her if she was ok. What Ron and Frank pulled off for the 50th (I can't believe it's been 10 years) was nothing short of miraculous. My expectations for the 60th are pretty low.

I was thinking that what Laura, Felicia and Anna are doing to Victor reminds me of when the Witches of Eastwick decided to turn the tables on Jack Nicholson and started torturing him little by little. Then I remembered, do they even know about the secret poisoning, or are Holly and Selina Wu the only ones who know about it? Felicia was helping Holly in the end, did she tell her?

R139 I haven't seen the episode yet, however Sonny has had quite a few sons (and daughters) who have died- his baby with Lily, who was pregnant when she died during the limo explosion (aka ClickBoom) in 1996; his son with Carly, after she fell down the stairs while pregnant, in 2000; his daughter with Sam, who was known as Lila, stillborn in 2004; his son with Claudia, who was pregnant at the exact same time Carly was pregnant with Josslyn, resulting in a miscarriage in 2009. Adding Dante, Kristina, Morgan, Avery, and Donna Courtney, Sonny would have a total of nine biological children. If Dex is his son, it would fit closest to his son with Claudia, chronologically.

I like the idea of Dex being Courtney's son from a teen pregnancy before she came to Port Charles. It would feed the disdain between him and Spencer and be a sort of Nik/Lucky 2.0.

R141 That's not a bad idea. Especially since we don't know for a fact that Dex is Sonny's son, there's just a hint of a connection to him. Some say he could be Brenda's son, which I've wondered myself, or to your point, he could even possibly be Ric's son. Then there's also the possibility of him being the son of one of Sonny's long lost enemies, which is a good explanation as to why he's so determined to take Sonny down.

The PR spin that came out afterwards that covid was the reason he didn't film his final scenes was just damage control to make the story die down. If that were truly the case, the covid reason would have been given from the beginning and all the kerfuffle avoided. I know those fan events are through a separate company and not through ABC but who is clamoring to see this guy? Obviously, the circumstances of his dismissal are off limits for discussion during the event or if it is brought up some word salad PR non-answer will be given.

I wonder which way they'd go if Storms needed another of her breaks. Would the temporary recast be a slim, attractive blonde in her thirties of the type that's all over Hollywood ("No, really, this is Maxie Jones; just go with it")? Or would they cast an obese actress, effectively conceding that that is Maxie's physical type now?

Probably a no-win situation. I guess the path of least resistance would be to have the character go out of town again, like they did when Storms had that three-month absence in 2017 (yeah, I know what it was reportedly for). Nathan got the Man Landers story with Amy to keep him busy.

I find the Amy actress much more likable than Storms, who's still stuck in all the same tics she had on DOOL almost 25 years ago.

The Amy actress thinks she’s doing summer stock in every episode but she’s far better than Storms. Storms was never a particularly good actress but she’s just plain lazy now. They recently decided to drop Maxie/Austin, move him to Ava and put Maxie on the backburner. She’s only around to squeak about the NB. Why she’s planning it, IDK.

I believe NAC will not find the fame he anticipates when he leaves GH just like the Morgan actor and the Nelle actress haven't despite their much-ballyhooed talent. Yes they have found some guest spots and short lived roles here and there but not the skyrocketing to fame they expected. NAC will however be able to return to GH after he leaves as he won't burn bridges. Morgan actor was difficult and I get the impression is not welcome back and Nelle actress had some mental health issues and possibly the reason they let her out of her contract at her request. She said when she was at her worst mental health wise that Cynthia was the person who helped her and was her "angel". CW seems like a genuinely nice person all around.

Sidenote: I notice Maura has never ventured outside of soaps. She has I believe one credit outside of soaps and that's it. She found her niche and didn't look a gift horse in the mouth.

Maura has an underemployed husband and 3 children to raise. A steady 9-5 is the best option for her.

If NAC keeps growing at such an alarming rate, they'll have to rewrite Spencer as a circus performer.

r169, DL has its own Nicholas Chavez troll who routinely puts down his performance and appearance while also prognosticates negatively on his ability to land roles outside of GH and his future in the acting business.

I don't recall anyone ever saying NAC can't act or isn't talented, he is a good actor. What is discussed or as you say "prognosticated" is the fact that many a popular and talented soap actor has not been able to translate their soap popularity into prime-time success. Starting with MEK back in the day on AMC. He left during the height of his Tad the Cad popularity and his career didn't take off and he came back. Dominic Z. came back. The guy that played Nathan wanted to come back despite his Hallmark movies. Kelly Thiebaud left and ended up mostly bartending and waitressing with bit parts here and there and ended up coming back. I'm not sure the soap world has seen the last of her despite her protestations. There are numerous other examples of actors from GH and other soaps that primetime didn't pan out for them. And it's really all just pointless bitchery here at the Data Lounge.

I was never a fan of Sonya Eddy, but I didn’t dislike her either. So I didn’t have a connection until Monica called Elizabeth. Becky knocked it out of the park. I didn’t shed a tear until then, and then the tears came. It was a great ending to the show.

Anyways, making Elizabeth the center of the episode was an excellent choice. Out of the current cast, Becky Herbst worked with Sonya the longest and they were also close off screen. In a Zoom a few months ago with NLG, Becky said she wasn’t sure if she was going to submit for the Emmys. They’ve definitely lost their excitement and meaning but it would be nice to see her finally win for the character of Liz. I always felt she was overlooked and under appreciated after so many in that cast started phoning it in years ago. She really knocked it out of the park yesterday.

I did have to roll my eyes at them having Carly speak. We didn’t hear anything from Felix or Bobby and even Amy was absent but, of course, we get Carly.

Are the characters on the show all local celebrities? Why did everyone make their entrance directly after the person they’re allegedly not dating? Why did Jordan pick the phone and talk loudly about Eileen Ashby’s death?

Chandra Wilson was stiff and awkward, the rainbow of sequined dresses were terrible, barely any extras… just kill it already. If they insist on keeping it around, take it back to basics and cut the red carpet portion. The only “Port Charles Elite” would be the Quartermaines and they’re all dead or on recurring.

And what’s with claiming the hospital is only 60 years old? We’re supposed to believe the first episode was everyone’s first day at work? This show is terrible.
