The director/choreographer for this movie (Millepied something or other) is a genius.

Benjamin Millepied is the husband of Natalie Portman. They have two kids. He is choreographer and ballet dancer.They met on Black Swan while he was living with another woman. Oof.

Kind of interested in the Nicholas Britell score, though. It's not Bizet, but I'll give it a chance for the first fifteen minutes at least.

Not a great review in Indiewire for this. I am however looking forward to the one about the honeymoon couple in Europe, even though I know the ending. The End of Getting Lost.

From the trailer, the cinematography looks great.

Back in the 80's I saw a version of Carmen at La Mama theater in New York performed by a Brazilian group performing it in Portuguese. It had the same feel as in this trailer. Carmen wore a ragged wedding dress and the front of her dress was stained with blood from her navel downward between her legs. I did not understand a word but I didn't have to, every gesture and inflection of the voice told me everything. It was incredible.

Looks very overwrought. Hard pass.

Erik Anderson of Awards Watch got to watch it and says it’s terrific.
