Had anyone told us back in 2008 that Rihanna would be the worlds wealthiest musician and a billionaire in 2023 we would have all laughed and said Trump has a better shot of being president.
She had the "it factor", when "Umbrella" dropped it cemented her status and I knew she'd still be big. Now Taylor Swift and Beyonce are the ones who shocked me by still being relevant. I'm shocked Gaga really didn't end up breaking musical grounds, I think she'd keep up the avant-garde sound like Bjork.

Ciara, I thought would also last longer than she did. She seemed way more like Beyonce's rival than Rihanna did. She danced her ass off.

Ciara was only ever a Janet clone after her first album. Her vocals were actually worse than Janets so she was never competition for Beyonce. also, people said she looked like a boy early on as if she was a trans singer. She started out as a 16 year old so it had to be really hard on her. No one ever had such harsh rumors about Beyonce.

I still remember hearing Pon de Replay on the radio during the fall and winter of 2005-2006. There was nothing about that song that suggested we would ever hear from her again. At the time, everyone was freaking out about that one greasy emo dude who sings that song You’re Beautiful. God, what a shitty song that was.

R1 The difference between Rihanna and Gaga is that rihanna sounds youthful despite her weird voice but gaga sounds like old hag despite good technique and gaga, according to some DLers in other threads stopped working with the people who made her first album and then her music became kinda boring while rihanna was smart and let other people write songs for her. I prefer Gaga music but not everybody likes Amanda Lear drag shows and taylor has fans because she looks awkward in music videos(her movements and facial expressions). Like a gen x who tries to be hip. Awkward young teenagers(and there are a lot) can relate to that and while taylor's voice is as low as Gags and Rihunna's, she at least sounds youthful too! Bey1ce is not overrated. She is a great singer and that's why she is still famous. She is basically the black Barbara Streusand. I ain't even a bey fan in case you wanna label me that but facts are facts 👨🏫
