A date once explained to me why the centrifugal motion line in This Kiss didn’t make any sense.

Great voice, a handful of great songs, but mostly the material was treacly and forgettable. Like a countrified, even schmaltzier Celine Dion. Once she secured the bag, what reason did she have to go on?

She WAS great in 1883 and I do respect her and Tim for being two of the only openly liberal stars in Nashville, however.

So odd that she virtually dropped out. Her last studio album, “Fireflies,” sold millions and had four top ten singles on the country chart - not to mention it’s a stellar album, by far my favorite of hers. She had a handful of singles afterwards, but they didn’t take off. So strange…

Rumor has it Faith was Nashville’s very own chicken coop, with cocks flying in and out all day long. She’d done everyone in town by the time her second album came out, most of them twice. This led to decent radio play and exposure despite the material being subpar. I take it Tim doesn’t know about her history as the city bike.

I was expecting her to be awful in 1883. But she did a pretty good job. And I was expecting Tim to be just ok, and he turned out just absolutely fantastic. Their ridiculous glow in the dark teeth did pull me out of the story a bit.

She and arch rival Shania Twain have morphed into the same taut faced person, poodle perm and all.

I never liked her but did enjoy hearing her story about meeting her birth mother. Faith was given up for adoption as an infant. Imagine her birth mother trying to find out what became of her daughter and she turned out to be Faith Hill!

R27 Faith has a reputation for being a cokehead. She is not well liked in Nashville at all. There are stories of her screaming at staff in the stores on Main Street in downtown Franklin. My friend owns one of the stores & says they cringe when she comes around.

About 15 years ago my uncle worked at a small resort in the midwest (not in Tennessee, but I will not disclose which state). They were told that a celebrity couple were coming for a weekend retreat in an effort to save their marriage... it was Faith & Tim. The staff was not allowed to talk about it at the time, but they were there meeting with a marriage counselor all weekend. Not sure what led up to it, but obviously it worked? There have long been rumors about their marriage not being a happy union. I'm sure they picked this resort because it is so off the grid, the tabloids would never find out. My uncle didn't even tell us about it until a few years ago.

Faith's biological relatives are very trashy. Her brother used to be a druggy and her nephew was recently sentenced to 15 years behind bars for a DUI manslaughter. She was lucky her mom put her up for adoption.

I remember going to the Gaiety in NYC back then (late 90s / early 00s) and the dancers used to always dance to 'Breathe' and 'This Kiss'. Every time I hear those songs, my memories goes back to there.

But back to the snarkery…I think Shania was more compelling lookswise and as a performer, and her songs on The Woman in Me surpass Faith Hill’s first hit album (which I can’t even remember the name of).. These ladies both hit in big when I was in my country pop phase, and I own a lot of music from both of them, but Shania is the one it still listen to.
