It's going to be Aaron.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | January 29, 2023 3:33 AM |
Aaron
by Anonymous | reply 4 | January 29, 2023 3:34 AM |
Aaron is the big-dick guy, right?
by Anonymous | reply 5 | January 29, 2023 3:37 AM |
Big dick and helium voice, that's the one.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | January 29, 2023 3:41 AM |
I hope it's not Aaron
by Anonymous | reply 7 | January 29, 2023 3:41 AM |
George Santos
by Anonymous | reply 8 | January 29, 2023 3:44 AM |
They've been teasing this shit for years. I've stopped caring.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | January 29, 2023 3:47 AM |
ATJ will be a monumental fail as 007, because everybody who would go to see Bond knows Aaron is married to Jocasta and might pluck out his own eyes any day now.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | January 29, 2023 3:47 AM |
r8, the producers have already contacted me! I am now the new James Bond.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | January 29, 2023 3:49 AM |
R12, we could use a gay James Bond!
by Anonymous | reply 13 | January 29, 2023 4:17 AM |
R10 they're already laying the groundwork for a divorce with the Joey King cheating rumors.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | January 29, 2023 4:55 AM |
Idris Elba
by Anonymous | reply 15 | January 29, 2023 4:58 AM |
Surprise, its Andrea Riesborough!!!
by Anonymous | reply 16 | January 29, 2023 5:03 AM |
R13, I think you mean a James Bond who is non-hetero-normative.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | January 29, 2023 5:04 AM |
Aaron Taylor Johnson looks like midwestern American white trash to me. I thought of Scott Stapp when I saw him. I have a hard time buying him as cool and classy Bond. He has B-Movie written all over his face.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | January 29, 2023 5:05 AM |
idris elbow
by Anonymous | reply 19 | January 29, 2023 5:29 AM |
Idris would’ve been great a decade ago. He’s aged out now. Still sexy, but past his peak.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | January 29, 2023 12:34 PM |
Agree with r18
by Anonymous | reply 21 | January 29, 2023 4:37 PM |
Even Richard Madden would be better than Aaron Taylor-Johnson
by Anonymous | reply 22 | January 30, 2023 3:35 AM |
Scott Stapp trash and Aaron Taylor-Johnson trash are descended from the same family tree. The only difference is the accent. ATJ's father is a civil engineer so he doesn't exactly come from hard knocks, but I'd bet anything they were new to the middle class. Mom was a stage mommy early on.
He was very good as a working class mercenary in Bullet Train.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | January 30, 2023 4:15 AM |
I hope they don't pick that overrated black dude from Bridgerton.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | January 30, 2023 4:16 AM |
ATJ would be a disastrous choice! I pray they don’t pick him.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | January 30, 2023 4:56 AM |
Laverne Cox!
by Anonymous | reply 26 | January 30, 2023 4:58 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 28 | January 30, 2023 8:17 AM |
R28, you're late, sweety. That response has been used.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | January 30, 2023 8:55 AM |
Just remember reading that someone was musing about a guy's looks and said that people aren't ugly, just poor. Meaning, throw a lot of money at someone, for makeup, lighting, fitness, and endless takes, and you can turn almost anyone into a passable action star. This franchise will be protected at all costs as if it were the King of England staring.
They will pick a handsome white man. We will all groan because he won't be this or that in our fantasy version of Bond. They will create a good first movie, as they did with Craig, and the most of us will fall in line.
I do look forward to a new Bond. Though I hope they at least let him be a man. I'm not interested in a female Bond, considering the type of action he always gets into a woman would get her ass kicked in a bond type hand to hand combat.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | January 30, 2023 9:13 AM |
Call me crazy, but I see Bond in the seated man in the tux.
Scroll.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | January 30, 2023 11:15 AM |
R25 "I pray they don’t pick him."
You seem oddly invested in this. You'd actually pray about something so stupid?
by Anonymous | reply 32 | January 30, 2023 6:37 PM |
[quote] I hope they don't pick that overrated black dude from Bridgerton.
I hope they do pick him.
But I'm sure they hire somebody who was on nobody's short list. It really depends on where they want to take the character.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | January 30, 2023 7:55 PM |
^ I think it would be more interesting if they pick someone totally out of left field, instead of Aaron Taylor Johnson or someone like that
by Anonymous | reply 34 | January 30, 2023 8:42 PM |
I really hope they consider asking Dev Patel or Henry Golding. Hell, I rather have Bill Nighy than that non-acting ass ATJ.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | January 30, 2023 8:47 PM |
I’ll be happy with either Aaron Taylor Johnson or Henry Golding.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | January 30, 2023 8:47 PM |
Hunter Biden
by Anonymous | reply 37 | January 30, 2023 8:50 PM |
Dev Patel would be an intriguing choice. I'd like that. I can buy him as badass and smooth womanizer in the same movie. I like Henry Golding, but I always found the roles he played quite vanilla (with one exception). So I am not sure he can keep up with the take-no-hostage character Bond.

This just in straight from Chat GPT:

The Bridgerton fellow utterly killed any chances he had with the dreary wooden performance he gave in The Grey Man.

What about James Norton?
by Anonymous | reply 41 | February 2, 2023 12:11 AM |
Richard Madden would be another excellent choice!
by Anonymous | reply 42 | February 2, 2023 12:52 AM |
James Norton is cute and a decent actor, but I'm sorry, he has all the charisma of a piece of plywood. They may as well cast Joe Alwyn if they're going that boring.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | February 2, 2023 1:36 AM |
I don't think he has any less charisma than Aaron Taylor-Johnson
by Anonymous | reply 44 | February 2, 2023 1:44 AM |
Mark Strong Strong would have made a fantastic Bond, but he’s now aged out and I don’t think they allow bald guys to play Bond. He has everything needed for the role.

God, Mark Strong! That voice. Would’ve been perfect. Good looking and has that touch of menace.
Watched Fleming, a fictionalization of Ian Fleming’s time with Naval Intelligence. It was pretty good and it did make me wonder about Dominic Cooper as James Bond. He’s the right age and a good actor. He’s the same height as Daniel Craig, less a half inch.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | February 5, 2023 6:45 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 72 | February 8, 2023 7:11 PM |
In 2020, Forbes.com asked OJC if he wanted to be James Bond. (He didn't exactly say no, but he also didn't say yes.)
[quote] Forbes: There’s been a lot of speculation which actor will be cast to take on James Bond in that franchise. Do you have any desire to play the iconic spy?
[quote] Jackson-Cohen: I’m too emotional. Would you have Bond cry the whole time?
[quote] Forbes: This is 2020.

[quote] It will be a transgender
Hardly. It took them forty years to turn Bond blond. And even that caused an outcry. No, at best they make Bond an open minded straight man who has enough self-esteem to flirt heavily with every gender - more or less openly. Remember, the movies need to make money around the entire world. Europe, USA, China and at some point Russia again. You know, it will happen. They will write for a character who is welcome in all those countries. A character who is cutting-edge in the US, is way too far off in lots of other lucrative markets.

Tom Hardy is 45. Is that too old? I think Daniel Craig was 39 when CR came out.

Probably because no one wants to see him after watching him in a bizarre minutes-long explosive diarrhea shitting scenes while wearing diapers in Capone. That killed his entire career, let alone his chances for Bond.

Link to the reports, please? Don't want to sound negative, but the Bond production has a habit to 'leak' names of candidates just for gaslighting everybody. In other words, if you read somebody's name as being in the running, it's almost a disqualifying marker.

He's a really good actor, too
by Anonymous | reply 105 | February 14, 2023 3:04 AM |
He is a really good actor and has done a few good lead roles in smaller projects - exactly at the point in his career where this type of role could benefit him and vice versa.
by Anonymous | reply 106 | February 14, 2023 3:06 AM |
Aidan Turner. I'd say he would be a great choice. And the first Bond actor I would actually find sexy. None of the previous Bonds were my type, not even Connery.
by Anonymous | reply 107 | February 15, 2023 1:33 AM |
Aiden Turner would have been great 5-10 years ago, but he's too old for the part now. The next Bond will be 30-35.
I'd like to see Nick Hoult get it--he's the perfect age, great look, and a sense of humor that could capture the sardonic wit of Bond. But he's too well-known.
by Anonymous | reply 108 | February 15, 2023 1:50 AM |
Aidan Turner is 39.
His audition for Bond was playing Philip Lombard in "And Then There Were None" and I think he was great:
by Anonymous | reply 109 | February 15, 2023 2:49 AM |
None of the suggestions seem right at all. Truth is the Daniel Craig era has fucked up the franchise irreparably. He was a big departure from the established archetype, and everyone loved him, and he was great, and the man for the zeitgeist - but now they've got a nasty catch 22 on their hands - do they cast according to the old debonair, suave, velvety Bond type; or the gruff, rugby player, believably former-SAS Daniel Craig type??
Craig was in the role far too long because they took too long to get his films made. He should have been out by 2016. The zeitgeist has since devolved into this bizarro streaming hellscape where leading men have gone utterly extinct, and now people don't even know how to fancast the role properly - either STILL stuck on the zombified antiracist meme of goofy grandad Idris, or some virginal Shondaland twink of colour ... fuckin hell.
Also Craig's era, the actual films outside of his popular stint, was a total fuck up after Casino Royale. Bond films should be episodic - they tried to create arcs over multiple films - somehow didn't learn from the failure of Quantum in this respect, and success of Skyfall in this respect... and went back for more miserable retroactive 'emotion' in Spectre... and ridiculously doubled-down for No Time by retreading Vesper AND dumping a child on him AND killing him off... Jesus. Did they forget they were going to want us all back in the cinema after three years with a new man in the role???
The role is a proper poisoned chalice now.
I predict a short lived stint for whoever it is. The role is due that... people gloss over Lazenby and Dalton.
by Anonymous | reply 110 | February 27, 2023 1:50 PM |
^ You sound like someone who always knows better.
Fact is that people always assumed that the Bond franchise would be dead whenever a recast was due. They always thought that the New Bond Actor is a miscast. And they ALWAYS think that the Bond character is outdated. Until the next movie comes out.
by Anonymous | reply 111 | February 27, 2023 2:35 PM |
I think it'll be James Norton. He went from playing the vicar in Grantchester to playing a vicious thug in Happy Valley. Boy's got chops and he's gorgeous.
by Anonymous | reply 112 | February 27, 2023 2:50 PM |
Who is the insane poster claiming Tom Burke can act? He's like a stick of wood - no facial expressions, terrible voice. And the harelip doesn't help.
by Anonymous | reply 113 | February 27, 2023 2:53 PM |
Aaron Taylor Johnson will make for a horrid Bond. I’ve said it before, his vibe is creepy and his acting reads as too antiheroic and too effeminate (not a bad thing for a character actor, in general)—even the lazy weaselly smirk that’s always on his face is eminently slappable. He started his career in these type of roles, and that’s what he ought to stick with.
He needs to play a Bond villain or a villainous Bond girl, if anything.
by Anonymous | reply 115 | March 14, 2023 2:45 PM |
Timothy Dalton was the best Bond after Moore.
by Anonymous | reply 116 | March 14, 2023 2:51 PM |
R85 Orblando, taking capability aside, is simply too camp and effeminate, even with age and weight on him, and esconsced as he is in the boring middle-aged father & husband years of his life.
Like ATJ, he is better suited to supporting or non-heroic roles. He can sparkle as a villain and seems to prefer playing them, he’s just rarely cast that way. Conversely, his biggest heroic part (in POTC) was overshadowed by two other actors, let’s not forget.
by Anonymous | reply 117 | March 14, 2023 2:57 PM |
The Moore Bond movies, though, were execrable.
George Lazenby made the mistake of his life by quitting.

The last installment WAS Bond's death. Keep up.

R149, yeah, Sean Lamont has a huge uncut cock. His wife is lucky.
by Anonymous | reply 152 | March 20, 2023 7:16 AM |
R147 agreed! Here I thought I was the only one watching.
by Anonymous | reply 153 | March 26, 2023 3:12 AM |
I can't believe people still care about or watch James Bond movies.
by Anonymous | reply 154 | March 26, 2023 3:48 AM |
If it's Aaron Taylor Johnson, they'll have to do something about his voice. They dubbed Lazenby for most of his picture.
by Anonymous | reply 155 | March 26, 2023 3:54 AM |
Dub Aaron Taylor Johnson with Benedict Cumberbatch's voice
by Anonymous | reply 156 | March 26, 2023 4:04 AM |
You could do that in the old days.
by Anonymous | reply 157 | March 26, 2023 4:06 AM |
R154 the Daniel Craig Bond films made multiple billions at the box office, collectively. People still definitely care.
by Anonymous | reply 158 | March 26, 2023 5:37 AM |
Isn't it time to update James Bond? I say it's time for the first gay James Bond.
by Anonymous | reply 159 | March 26, 2023 8:19 AM |
Dornan is totally buff. I guess people didn't see The Tourist.
by Anonymous | reply 160 | March 26, 2023 8:57 AM |
In what direction do they want to go with the franchise? If it were up to me, I would make Bond join SPECTRE, because they turn out to be the good guys fighting the corruption of the British Intelligence establishment. Like Mr. Robot.
by Anonymous | reply 161 | March 26, 2023 9:56 AM |
Why, r159? Just make up a new, original character. If a character in a novel is changed so substantially, then how can he or she be considered to be that same character?
by Anonymous | reply 162 | March 26, 2023 12:51 PM |
Don't we have a thread at DL where some OP complains about a Charles Dickens novel getting a woke update adaption? "Hollywood" (the film industry in general) loves to change original source material.
by Anonymous | reply 163 | March 26, 2023 1:04 PM |
Maybe the next actor playing James Bond will actually be a heterosexual.
by Anonymous | reply 164 | March 26, 2023 1:08 PM |
r163 No one is changing the source material, you ignorant asshole. They're all adaptations to a different medium. The fuck were you doing when the rest of us were at school?
by Anonymous | reply 165 | March 26, 2023 1:08 PM |
R165, are you here for the methadone program?
by Anonymous | reply 166 | March 26, 2023 2:29 PM |
R165, You clearly did not view the David Niven "Casino Royale." The move from novel to film---the media---had nought to do with the execrable "adaptation." The "source material" was, indeed, changed.
by Anonymous | reply 167 | March 27, 2023 4:05 AM |
Did you enjoy the TV adaptation of Casino Royale?
by Anonymous | reply 168 | March 27, 2023 12:05 PM |
I don't think they have to explain anything.
Just reboot the franchise. No need for continuity or any links with Craig's work. Or time travel bullsh*t like with The Flash.
Just DO IT.
by Anonymous | reply 169 | March 27, 2023 12:09 PM |

Should be James Norton
by Anonymous | reply 171 | March 27, 2023 12:41 PM |
R168, I'm an Old Frau, but even I was only 4 years old in 1954! So heretofore I've not known of this adaptation. I will pursue!
My disappointment is made manifold always when crucial scenes involving card games are omitted or radically altered.

It's another beatup.
"There’s the fact that, just a month ago, producer Barbara Broccoli told reporters that no script exists for the next James Bond film, and no casting decisions have been made whatsoever, and that it will probably be two or three years before any sort of casting announcements are made."
by Anonymous | reply 173 | March 27, 2023 1:22 PM |
The producers are not the youngest anymore. Have they mentioned any succession plans? That whole franchise can go down the drain if someone takes over who doesn't understand the movies' DNA.
by Anonymous | reply 174 | March 27, 2023 1:35 PM |
Barbara Broccolli has one child: a daughter who is a budding producer, director, writer. Michael G. Wilson, her half-brother has two sons who are producers. Michael is 81, but Babs is only 62, and still very much in the game.
by Anonymous | reply 175 | March 27, 2023 2:31 PM |
It's pretty unique: EON is the only family company holding such a valuable film franchise. (Rami Malek said that his script was delivered to his hotel like a pizza by Babs herself.) Because they don't have anyone standing over them, they can do what they like, such as holding out during Covid for almost a year for the right time to release No Time To Die in theatres, despite the enormous interest charges on the production financing, which ended up being over a 100 million I think!

R45, Sean Connery was balding and wore a variety of unconvincing hair pieces when he was the original Bond. He was still the sexiest Bond to ever play the role. I agree about Mark Strong, he is a terrific actor.

Dan Stevens please.

by Anonymous | reply 200 | April 15, 2023 5:08 PM |
Dan Stevens is 40, so perfect age for a current movie, but not exactly the age they apparently want for the next 10 to 15 years of movies.

Debbie McWilliams the chief caster, who is about to retire and be replaced by her young niece Jemima, is a lovely character. She's let spill in interviews that she found Kukunaga trying, and also that American agents have such a poor opinion of British projects – even Bond – they sometimes don't pass on UK casting agent calls to their actors. It was only when McWilliams cornered Rami Malek at a preview screening that he learnt they'd been trying to reach him. That seems incredible given actors would crawl over broken glass to play a Bond villain, but according to McWilliams, Hollywood agents are obsessed with landing their actors a lucrative multi-movie franchise i.e. Marvel.

I am so sick of Marvel, superhero movies, comic book movies, etc. How many more of them do we need? It is destroying what's left of any pretense to art in film anymore.
