Jay Leno's 30 year employment under NBC is DEAD to me
Jay Leno's 30 year run with NBC has come to an end, as NBCUniversal announced the cancellation of his CNBC reality show "Jay Leno’s Garage". The series premiered in 2015.
Since 1992, Leno has been on at least one of the NBC channels with a television show. It started back in 1992, when he took over hosting duties of 'The Tonight Show' when Johnny Carson retired after 30 years. Leno left the show in 2009, handing the microphone to Conan O'Brien, while Leno did a 10 pm talk show. Within months, Leno was back to hosting The Tonight Show, and finally left in 2014. Months after he left, he started 'Jay Leno's Garage' on NBC.com, which moved to CNBC the following year. The show aired it final season this past fall.

So one could say his show burned up?

Why did he leave the Tonight Show and then come back? Didn't he do something awful to Conan or was that someone else? How old is he now?

He left TTS in 2009, and it's been said once he decided to leave, and Conan's transition was in progress, he had regrets about what he did. So NBC gave him the same show only ninety minutes earlier - and viewers stayed with him, rather than stay up and watch Conan. Conan's ratings suffered thanks to NBC / Leno's move, and NBC decided to put 'The Jay Leno Show' on at 11:30 and move Conan's TTS to 12:30 am. At that point, Conan saw the writing on the wall and asked to be released from his contract - which he received a big payout. TTS stayed on at 11:30 and Leno was back hosting until 2014.
Conan never forgave Leno for this underhanded move.
