The GOP's new scheme to reduce taxes on the ultra rich

The GOP's Fair Tax Act Introduces a 30% consumption tax instead of income taxes.

Economists say it will raise taxes for all exceot the top 5%, which will get a big tax break.

They are incorrigible bastards.

They don't work for their constituents, instead they work for the super rich and corporations that fund their campaigns.

Special affinity for oil and gas corporations and concommitant industries.

This is just brazen

The housing market will pretty much collapse if everything had a 30% mark up.

GOP: Gas prices are rising! Prices at the grocery store are rising! Damn you, Joe Biden!

Also GOP: Let's raise the price of everything by 30%.

I know this in't news to most but the whole point of the GOP is to represent the rich so they don't get taxed much.

EVERYTHING is about reducing taxes. The whole opposition to ACA was about taxation. They want to privatize all governmental business--school, VA, Medicare--so not only can the rich get profits from taking over these services, but they won't be taxed as much.

The GOP tax law was tilted massively towards cutting taxes for the wealthy. So was the whole 'death tax "debate.

We can't get singlepayer healthcare because it would mean taxes from the rich and the rich wouldn't make as much profit from healthcare as they do now

There has to be a better way that a 30% sales tax, but I do like the idea of everyone paying the same rate or dollar value for the same benefits.

Close. We can't get single-payer healthcare because everyone wants someone else to pay for their healthcare and they are not willing to pay their share of the cost themselves. In Europe, the people understand they need to cough up dough themselves through taxes to help pay for their healthcare.

R8, we all pay taxes—whether it or income tax, sales tax, property tax, etc

by Anonymousreply 9January 27, 2023 2:45 AM

We don’t have single payer because white propel don’t want to pay into a system that would help blacks

Paying the same dollar value or rate is ridiculous. If I make a dollar and have to pay 10%, I have 90 cents left. If someone with $10 million pays $1 million, he has $9 million left.

A progressive tax system is the fairest way to tax.
