A gay couple (Jonathan Groff and Ben Aldridge) and their daughter are taken hostage by armed strangers who demand that the family make a choice to avert the apocalypse while vacationing.
Omg this looks good.

Anyone else excited to watch this?

Nope

Yes!

What the "twist", since MNS doesn't do movies without a gimmick.

They get AIDS and use it as a teaching tool to stop its spread and kill everyone off.

My guess is that the twist is that Groff is a top. But it's less believable than a kid being able to see dead people.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | January 31, 2023 9:23 PM |
It's nice they are featuring a gay couple, but it doesn't augment the premise enough to make me want to watch it. Not a huge MNS fan, or a huge horror fan, though I certainly do watch some stuff.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | January 31, 2023 9:27 PM |
Why don't they just choose Dave Bautista?

Is Jonathan Groff the one who spits all the time?
by Anonymous | reply 9 | January 31, 2023 9:35 PM |
M. Night Shyamalan is always incredible or spectacularly bad, either of which I find entertaining. I appreciate that he tries stuff.

Are they all aging at an accelerated pace?

The twist is that the knock at the cabin is: LEA MICHELLE!

Ben! Worth the price of the ticket!

Lea Michelle reprises "The Morning After (Love Theme from 'The Poseidon Adventure')" over the end credits.

Twist: the intruders demanding that they pick someone to die were hired by the little Asian girl as revenge for her mommy whom one of the fathers got pregnant while vacationing in China and cheating on the other partner.

The source of the knock is a surprise. Surprise anal.

Groff is one of the few gays DL likes

Additional twist revealed after the end credits: she brought her desk lamp along too!

Ron Weasley is in this.
Even he is doing more than Emma Watson these days. She shouldn't have started believing her own PR.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | January 31, 2023 10:07 PM |
The novel was a good, scary thriller
by Anonymous | reply 20 | January 31, 2023 10:10 PM |
Does Emma Watson really have to do anything ever again in her life?
She may want to, but does he have to?
by Anonymous | reply 21 | January 31, 2023 10:10 PM |
Yes I'll be watching this!
I know Night Shyamalan has a reputation for being a bit hit and miss but I really enjoy most of his stuff. I really liked Old and would have liked to have seen a sequel with the story continuing as well.

Forgot to say thanks OP for the alert about this.

Stupid premise. Obviously kill the adopted kid. She'll never be as fabulous as her two dads!

Well, as they say in Gypsy, "You gotta have a gimmick."

This looks distressing.
Dave Bautista is a prime example of 'ugly hot.'
by Anonymous | reply 26 | January 31, 2023 10:51 PM |
I don't really think he's ugly or hot.

It comes out this weekend?

I don't find his face handsome at all, but that body - I love huge, muscular bodies like his.

THR gave it a terrible review. Sounds stupid.

R20 is right -- this was a good book. Really well done.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | February 2, 2023 1:28 PM |
R31 others have given it a good review. Is THR the only review that matters?
by Anonymous | reply 33 | February 2, 2023 1:31 PM |
Washington Post said it is “Satisfyingly atmospheric and tense.”
by Anonymous | reply 34 | February 2, 2023 1:33 PM |
Rolling Stone gave it a mostly glowing review.
“ The fact that Shyamalan seems to be working out some issues onscreen doesn’t stop him from crafting a thriller, and one which goes about its job with steady determination in Cabin’s cryptic, superior first half.”

Saw it tonight and loved it. Loved the acting from everyone. Thought Groff and Ben had great chemistry and were a cute couple. The movie was not what I expected at all and really made me think. Highly recommended!
