USA Has Had FIVE Mass Killings So Far In 2023

2023 is only 3 weeks old

That is more than one per week

by Anonymousreply 41January 25, 2023 12:32 AM

A great way to prevent these killings is to perhaps not televise them or make a ruckus of it. The main reason shooters are doing such things, is just for publicity. Fifteen minutes of fame "red carpet rollout" and their Wikipedia article. Sad and sorry fucks don't deserve attention. But millions will watch the news and talk about it with their families. There needs to be a better way to memorialize the fallen.

by Anonymousreply 1January 23, 2023 1:10 AM

Nothing about [bold]THE GUNS[/bold] R1?

by Anonymousreply 2January 23, 2023 1:21 AM

Yes people should definitely stop breaking the law

by Anonymousreply 3January 23, 2023 1:25 AM

WTF R3?

by Anonymousreply 4January 23, 2023 1:26 AM

Great point R2 I almost forgot. I hate guns and honestly, gun control is needed, but it's like putting one piece of bubblegum on a leaky, cracked wall. The conservative agenda and the unfortunate sensibility for the right to bear arms will be a long-enduring debacle for many years to come. They recently rescinded women's rights, so it would be a shocker to see gun control in this current political climate.

by Anonymousreply 5January 23, 2023 1:27 AM

And the rest of the world shakes its head and doesn’t understand why you don’t get it yet.

Just look at the replies to this thread.

by Anonymousreply 6January 23, 2023 1:29 AM

The NRA was funneling money to Russia and backed by the republican party.

by Anonymousreply 7January 23, 2023 1:29 AM

[bold]IS[/bold] R7.

by Anonymousreply 8January 23, 2023 1:32 AM

It doesn't help that tv, movies and games reek of violence. It's in everyone's home.

by Anonymousreply 9January 23, 2023 1:41 AM

There is a link between gun ownership and gun deaths. The higher amount of guns there are, the more deaths by gun there are.

USA USA!!!!

by Anonymousreply 11January 23, 2023 1:54 AM
The higher amount of guns there are, the more deaths by gun there are.

How could anyone possibly be surprised by that fact?

by Anonymousreply 12January 23, 2023 2:02 AM
It doesn't help that tv, movies and games reek of violence. It's in everyone's home.

I'm SURE it doesn't help but people seem to love it.

Recommend me a current TV show set in the present with zero guns.

by Anonymousreply 13January 23, 2023 2:03 AM

You'd think but people are trying to say it's because of video games or because the media covers mass shootings.

by Anonymousreply 14January 23, 2023 2:03 AM

It's because of the guns R14.

by Anonymousreply 15January 23, 2023 2:04 AM

Or one might look at the demographics

by Anonymousreply 16January 23, 2023 2:12 AM

Well, there’s mass and there’s mass mass. The shooting in California qualifies. Shooting your family or three or four people you have a beef with might technically be mass shootings, but they’re all run if the mill. Shooting up a roomful of strangers with a double digit body count is a proper one. So this is the first real one of the year. We’re not doing so bad.

by Anonymousreply 17January 23, 2023 2:14 AM

It's the out of control guns R16.

by Anonymousreply 18January 23, 2023 2:14 AM

You are joking, aren’t you, R17? It can be difficult to tell on the DL.

by Anonymousreply 19January 23, 2023 2:15 AM

OP, do you have any idea how big the United States is? There are countries that are smaller than a single US state.

by Anonymousreply 20January 23, 2023 2:16 AM

R16, that link doesn’t show anything.

by Anonymousreply 21January 23, 2023 2:17 AM

And what R20?

by Anonymousreply 22January 23, 2023 2:17 AM

A proper link. Blacks make the majority of them. The number is off the charts. Maybe we should ban certain races from having guns.

by Anonymousreply 23January 23, 2023 2:19 AM

I’m so fed up with Republicans and the stupid people who vote for them.

Their beliefs on guns (hell, all of their beliefs) are holding back the whole country.

by Anonymousreply 24January 23, 2023 2:21 AM

Deaths Due to Firearms per 100,000 Population by Race/Ethnicity

White:11.6

Black: 31.8

Hispanic: 7.9

Asian of Pacific Islander: 2.9

American Indian or Alaskan Native: 18.7

by Anonymousreply 25January 23, 2023 2:21 AM

How about banning the goddamn fucking [bold]guns[/bold] you racist sack of human excrement R23.

by Anonymousreply 26January 23, 2023 2:22 AM
It doesn't help that tv, movies and games reek of violence. It's in everyone's home.

Don’t start that shit again, frau.

by Anonymousreply 27January 23, 2023 2:23 AM
How about banning the goddamn fucking guns

No, you commie fuck.

by Anonymousreply 28January 23, 2023 2:23 AM
Recommend me a current TV show set in the present with zero guns.

TV shows have always had guns, as did movies. 99.9% of people don’t go killing people.

by Anonymousreply 29January 23, 2023 2:26 AM

R10, find a non-biased source next time. Mother Jones is a liberal publication.

by Anonymousreply 30January 23, 2023 2:26 AM

There have been studies of violent TV shows/movies and video games. No link to increased violence. Many other countries have plenty of violent TV/movies and video game consumption but have nowhere near the homicide rate the US does - and that's down to the much lower gun ownership.

by Anonymousreply 31January 23, 2023 2:28 AM

Which has what to do with anything, R20? China and India have populations four times that of USA but they don’t have the number of mass shootings that the USA, when going on your reasoning, they could have four times the number and that would be ok by you.

Stop trying to defend the indefensible - you only look stupid.

And you need no help in that department.

A quick scan of some of the responses on this thread alone - “commie fuck”? “Maybe we should ban certain races from having guns” Really? It would be laughable if it wasn’t so real.

by Anonymousreply 32January 23, 2023 2:29 AM

We're #1! We're #1! We're #1!

by Anonymousreply 33January 23, 2023 2:41 AM

There's been THIRTY THREE mass shootings this year. Not five.

by Anonymousreply 34January 23, 2023 10:34 AM

I read some of these comments like "Well, there’s mass and there’s mass mass" or "do you have any idea how big the United States is?" and I'm left thinking, wow, they're just going to live with it. They've given up. It's such an insurmountable problem you've just made it part of every day life. Fucking wow.

by Anonymousreply 35January 23, 2023 5:12 PM

They’re hilarious! I just saw some idiotic Monterey Park official celebrating “how it’s brought our community together”. Yay for the shooters. 🔫🤣

by Anonymousreply 36January 23, 2023 8:55 PM

Oh, another one, in Half Moon Bay. But only 7 fatalities so nothing to see here, folks!

by Anonymousreply 37January 24, 2023 3:54 AM

Oh, another one, in Oakland CA. Only one dead but seven injured.

by Anonymousreply 38January 24, 2023 6:14 AM

Ts & Ps

Next one!

by Anonymousreply 39January 24, 2023 7:28 AM

Americans have become so violent at this point, the documentary “the brainwashing of my father “ is an example.Banning guns has been effective in other countries. Human violence builds on itself exponentially. people look for somebody to blame, and usually blame the victim of the crime. Police generally do nothing or cause more harm . All of that adds up to more and more lost lives.

by Anonymousreply 40January 24, 2023 8:23 AM
Americans have become so violent at this point,

And Mexicans ?
