Actors Who Disappeared…But Re-emerged Triumphant
I didn’t plan on watching the Night Court reboot (even though I loved the original), but I’ve heard from more than one source that John Larroquette hits the ground running. Apparently, he had to ask not to be submitted for Emmy consideration after winning 4 consecutive years (he has a total of 5). Now he’s taking a show built around Melissa Rauch and reminding people of what he’s capable of.
I always like it when someone I like makes a comeback and it’s like they never left. Does anyone have any other examples?

winona ryder, rdj, brendan fraser, meryl streep (before she sucked all the air out of the room, she was a steady b movie actress), robin williams, jim carrey, melissa mccarthy, judith light, james earl jones, roscoe lee browne, the golden girls (well, arthur and white's careers prior and the GG being their comeback, even if subsequent projects never garnered the same momentum), george burns....
a lot more musicians and singers, though.

Piper Laurie hadn't worked in 10 years when she took Brian DePalma's offer to be Margaret White in Carrie.
She got an Oscar nomination for one of the best performances (if not *the* best performance) in a horror movie ever.

Piper Laurie was iconic in Carrie. She’s one of those people you think won an Oscar for their performance, even though they didn’t.

RDJ had been written off as a hopeless druggie, only for him to revive his career and become one of the top 10 most successful actors in the past few decades.

John Travolta owns this thread. He was a huge movie star in the 70s and 80s and then became a joke before disappearing altogether. Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction brought him back to life and he became a bigger movie star than he was previously.

Meryl Streep was never a “steady b movie” actress. She did smaller roles in huge prestige projects.

Lee Grant was blacklisted because of her husband's political affiliations, and didn't work on film and tv for most of the fifties until the mid-60s when she re-emerged on Peyton Place and then ten years later won an Oscar, some 30 years after her first nomination for Detective Story.
