Trump Tops DeSantis

Don’t let the rightwing media love affair with DeSantis fool you. Trump is still king. He’ll turn Little Ron into Jeb Bush if he dares to run against him.

I would love it if it was Trump again. Any Democrat could beat him, and definitely sleepy Joe.

by Anonymousreply 2January 18, 2023 4:13 PM

R2 He could be dead for 20 years and still beat him.

I love it when Republicans destroy Republicans, the way it should be.

by Anonymousreply 6January 18, 2023 4:29 PM

Trump as GOP nominee would be such a gift to Democrats. Imagine the infighting, and the humiliations in defeat, and the standard bearers of the party like Susan Collins and Mitt Romney having to either grovel for the forgiveness of Trump and his minions or swallow their pride and support him for the third straight time. It would kill the Republican party faster than Covid kills an unvaxxed deplorable with COPD. Dems would retake the Senate and build on those gains while the GOP is lost in the post-Trump wilderness for a decade or more. It could spark a viable third party or a major realignment of the GOP, but Dems would be running circles around any opposition in the mean time which could be many years.

by Anonymousreply 9January 18, 2023 6:39 PM

Ok, definitely OT, but per r8, how long has prime time been going on? My pet peeve is the BRF threads, and they’ve definitely lessened, but there are still 3-4 a day. I still see some trolls posting otherwise but they might just be sneaking in posts non-prime time. But I think the trolling has ebbed a bit, as has traffic in general.

[quote]I love it when Republicans destroy Republicans, the way it should be.

And we just had a small taste of this a few weeks ago, when the new Congress took 15 votes before they confirmed a Speaker of the House. That was nothing compared to what we will see at the Republican National Convention 18 months from now. Invest in "Pop Secret", "Act II", "Orville Redenbacher" and other microwave pop corn brands NOW !

I’m not sure DeSantis has the balls to run against him. He may sit this one out.

by Anonymousreply 12January 18, 2023 11:21 PM

R12 DeSantis has a huge ego. Do you really think he will sit this one out ?

by Anonymousreply 13January 19, 2023 12:13 AM

My initial thought was that he would pass on this, and feel better off letting Trump run and lose. Later more or less saying "I knew it! Told ya so!" My bet is that he's going to give it a pass at the last minute, which I believe would be this summer?

Trump has already said that if Guv Ron were to actually enter the race, he'd slice and dice him like a ginsu knife. The guy's a clinical narcissist, who'd go full throttle hardcore vicious on someone he saw as so much of a threat.

by Anonymousreply 14January 19, 2023 12:20 AM

Good! Let these monsters destroy each other.

by Anonymousreply 15January 19, 2023 1:03 AM

Hard for him to pass up, I’d think.

In politics you have to strike when you have the right hand. The political winds shift eventually. Hard for him to count on being attractive in 2028.

I’m not familiar with this pollster from the Atlantic article. It is possible that both are true — it could depend on the polling methods themselves.

The only way Dems can win is with a candid that can take on Trump, that’s just a fact. We can’t go backward, we must move forward. No to Hillary (I voted for her), no to Joe, no to Kamala. Maybe Joe if he can string together a coherent sentence, though I’m not clear on if he’s a serious contender yet. The Dems need another Obama right now.

DeSantis beats all of them in the latest poll and that includes Biden and Harris. DeSantis is smart, which makes him more dangerous. Trump couldn’t even tell you the branches of the government. The majority of the GOP hates Trump. They’ve supported Trump because they thought he could win. They will vote for Ron. Ron will be the nominee and Biden will have to work big time in beating him. Hopefully Trump destroys Ron’s image with voters and maybe even runs as an independent.

OP, don’t make up lies about friends elsewhere there or there is a spouse you are to meet there later. You don’t have to tell lies to strangers or pretend to others you are being accompanied by relatives or friends. Have positive self-esteem. If this is a small town, there likely may be people attending you already know. Say “hi” if they pass you, and if someone gets nosy, say you are checking the carnival out, and explain nothing further unless you want to comment on the carnival itself, the weather, or whatever.
