I loved Daisy.

by Anonymousreply 8January 12, 2023 4:07 PM

R6, who could hate Uncle Angelo and Aunt Angela?!

by Anonymousreply 9January 12, 2023 4:55 PM

Those irresponsible parents who left their baby, at the house, for two days.

by Anonymousreply 10January 12, 2023 5:54 PM

That snippy hotel desk clerk who charged the girls for sleeping on the lobby sofas. (Grab that Dough episode.)

by Anonymousreply 11January 12, 2023 5:55 PM

^^^You mean that prudish bitch Eliza Jane from Little House on the Prairie?

by Anonymousreply 12January 12, 2023 6:15 PM

Blind Lily

Fat Rebecca

by Anonymousreply 13January 12, 2023 6:18 PM

Rose's slut whore conniving sister Holly.

(Inga Swenson was always a two-bit cunt!)

by Anonymousreply 14January 12, 2023 6:21 PM

And Fat Rebecca's abusive husband.

by Anonymousreply 15January 12, 2023 6:22 PM

R12, yes, that's her.

by Anonymousreply 16January 12, 2023 6:28 PM

R15, I hated that abusive character, too. The actor who played him, was excellent.

by Anonymousreply 17January 12, 2023 6:30 PM

Of the recurring characters it's Uncle Angelo, that fucking awful accent and bullshit about being a Priest. Plus his character was given some awful lines.

Aunt Angela wasn't much better but at least the acting wasn't as offensively bad and Nancy didn't a neat job of mirroring Estelle's mannerisms. She was just a mean old bitch.

by Anonymousreply 18January 12, 2023 6:31 PM

r17 Joe Regalbuto, from "Murphy Brown."

by Anonymousreply 19January 12, 2023 6:31 PM

R17, yes, that's him. I wonder if he's still working?

by Anonymousreply 20January 12, 2023 6:33 PM

The guy who slut shames Blanche in The Rusty Anchor when all she wants is a little validation. "Yea, Yea Blanche you aren't wearing a bra! Shh Dorothy's about to sing!"

R7 Torndyke hahaha

by Anonymousreply 22January 12, 2023 6:34 PM

R19...sorry.

R-17 here....

[quote]Uncle Angelo, that fucking awful accent

I found his accent hysterical.

I loved it.

by Anonymousreply 24January 12, 2023 6:47 PM

Aunt Angela was great. Those episodes that feature her and really good ones.

by Anonymousreply 25January 12, 2023 6:55 PM

R11 R12 Listing me as one of your most hated characters is an exercise in futility. I should call the police to have you arrested for loitering.

Also…You don’t look like Angie Dickinson to me.

I hated Blanche's abusive boyfriend, Rex Huntington.

Dr. Jonathan Newman. He was smug.

by Anonymousreply 32January 12, 2023 7:50 PM

Dorothy, the big ole closet case was a real buzzkill.

by Anonymousreply 33January 12, 2023 7:56 PM

Dorothy to Lucy: "We loved having you."

Sophia to Lucy: "So did half of Miami!"

by Anonymousreply 34January 12, 2023 9:18 PM

R34 Lucy was very loose. She loved the Blanche quote about a horse eating sugar out of her ass

by Anonymousreply 35January 12, 2023 9:41 PM

Frieda Claxton and Barbara Thordyke are iconic GG villains. I like Nancy Walker but didn't like her as Angela. Alma Nyland bugged hard. Also, Michael Zbornak was the only tolerable child of any of the characters. Fat or Frizzy haired Rebbeca was exhausting. Upscale, Jaclyn Smith/Dierdre Hall knockoff AND White Trash truck stop Kirstens were both equally horrifying in different ways. That Barrie Youngfellow/Brenda Vacarro hybrid Kate Zbornak sucked but I could also not abide the off-brand Didi Conn Kate either. And of course Bridget was a whore.

by Anonymousreply 36January 12, 2023 11:46 PM

Bridget was better than, red-haired cunt Kirsten

by Anonymousreply 37January 13, 2023 12:31 AM

That old big mouthed bitch who was in charge of the talent show committee where Dorothy supposedly booked Bob Hope.

by Anonymousreply 38January 13, 2023 12:34 AM

I couldn’t stand Miles. Aunt Angela was awesome; Nancy Walker did a great job at being believable as Sophia’s sister. I didn’t like first Gloria, but I thought Dena Dietrich as second Gloria was wonderful.

by Anonymousreply 39January 13, 2023 12:40 AM

Dr. Budd.

by Anonymousreply 40January 13, 2023 1:11 AM

That annoying girl from Empty Nest who kept appearing

by Anonymousreply 41January 13, 2023 1:14 AM

Dena Dietrich was wonderful! Skip E. Lowe interviewed her. She was warm, friendly and delightful. She discussed Bea Arthur, tactfully. It was hilarious.

by Anonymousreply 44January 13, 2023 1:52 PM

Blanche's grandson David. He deserved that smack in the face from Sophia.

by Anonymousreply 45January 13, 2023 3:35 PM

Rose

by Anonymousreply 46January 13, 2023 3:59 PM

Martin Mull's agoraphobic aging hippie.

by Anonymousreply 47January 13, 2023 4:15 PM

R44 no, he's the dick who refused to take Blanche out as she was running late, repeatedly stood her up, made digs about her looks, told Dorothy that Blanche was "just a hole to stick it in til something better came along" then tried to grab Dorothy's left tit but ended up twisting her wrist instead.

by Anonymousreply 85January 14, 2023 7:17 PM

Blanche was actually a raging cunt. Her personality made for great television but in real life it would have been difficult being friends with someone like her who was constantly insulting your looks and taking jabs at you.

by Anonymousreply 86January 14, 2023 7:44 PM

Blanche was a kind and loving woman, the other girls have as good as they got. Sophia was the most antagonistic bitch in Dade Country

by Anonymousreply 87January 14, 2023 8:21 PM

Hi Dorothy r86

by Anonymousreply 88January 14, 2023 9:04 PM

Miles' daughter was a raging CUNT. Rose, the ding dong, didn't deserve that treatment.

by Anonymousreply 89January 14, 2023 9:13 PM

R89 Your comment made me remember how much I used to love Hostess Ding Dongs. I'd put them in the fridge, they were so good cold. I wish they made a vegan version.

by Anonymousreply 90January 14, 2023 9:52 PM

Has anyone mentioned Lorraine and Dorothy's "skinny white boy" son Michael? Those two hooking up didn't make a lick of sense. As rare as the paring can be most white male/black female couples are attractive in my experiences, but that older big boned black woman with that pencil thin whiteboy? Come on now! I do applaud The Golden Girls for not shying away from certain issues and the episode was still funny and didn't hold back on the stereotypes "Is it true what they say about Black men in bed?" LMAO oh Sophia! Lorraine's mother going up against Dorothy was pretty funny too and its the only episode where there's "blackface" but not really.

by Anonymousreply 91January 14, 2023 9:57 PM

[quote]I always hated Miles.

Me too! And it's so odd, because I always liked the actor Harold Gould as Rhoda's father and in every other character part I saw him in.

by Anonymousreply 92January 14, 2023 10:01 PM

It’s amazing how many actors on Golden Girls were recycled from Mary Tyler Moore. Harold Gould was on MTM at one point, and Nancy Walker played Rhoda’s mother. And there was Betty White of course as Sue Ann Nivens. And a bunch of other minor characters.

by Anonymousreply 93January 14, 2023 10:30 PM

I liked Michael in the episode where he's effing Bridget, but he and Lorraine really don't have much to do in their episode, it's really all about their families responses to them as a couple. He bugged a little bit in his last appearance after he left Lorraine (and baby Roger LaMarr), but I found Stan more annoying than him so he gets a pass. Awful fried spiral perm Becky is the only other actor to appear more than once as one of the girls' children,so that's impressive in itself. To be fair, I just thought he was cute.

OT: but does anyone think Blanche took it in the butt/lezzed out?

by Anonymousreply 94January 14, 2023 10:41 PM

Lorraine was only 44 but looked 64. She was wrong for Michael as a boring school teacher Black woman

by Anonymousreply 95January 14, 2023 11:01 PM

Michael gave me closeted vibes R94 but perhaps that was just wishful thinking 😉 I almost forgot he hooked up with Rose's hot in the pants daughter. That paring also made little sense even if Bridget was an undercover freak, I always thought Michael's inability to settle down was because he was on denial about his sexuality. But again wishful thinking most likely but I was in such lust for the actor who played Michael. I definitely would've blew his saxophone.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 96January 14, 2023 11:04 PM

I can see Michael fucking Bridget. He didn’t give a shit about her personality. She was young and blonde.

by Anonymousreply 97January 14, 2023 11:10 PM

R94 You could figure Lorraine miscarried, being so old, so Roger Lamar avoided a big mess not being born into that family.

Becky #2 wanted to have a baby as a working single mother. Who would do that but an immature idiot? Yes, her hair was ugly, but her life choices were uglier.

Stan was a great character, and perfectly cast. My only quibble is his greeting "Hi, it's me Stan." Every single time the door opened. I know they did it for new viewers, but it was unnecessary. They would've known his name when the girls greeted him, and after a few minutes of seeing how he and Dorothy interacted, would've been able to figure they were divorced.

by Anonymousreply 98January 14, 2023 11:44 PM

No r98 it was his given line not for new viewers it was his calling card and the writers and actor thought it was funny.

by Anonymousreply 99January 15, 2023 12:22 AM

R95 - i thought she was a singer in his band.

Hijacking the thread for a question that I'm sure DL has answered many, many times (or, as Blanche would say, "Maneh, maneh times.") ... is Melissa supposed to be Janet's daughter, or does she belong to one of Blanche's sons? Skippy/Matthew, Biff or Doug? We can assume that Janet and her Yankee husband were conceiving Sarah while on vacation when David visited.

by Anonymousreply 108January 16, 2023 2:08 AM

When Rose was near death in the hospital, her daughter, Kirsten, banned the girls from seeing Rose. She was such a bitch...I hated her.

by Anonymousreply 109January 16, 2023 2:47 AM

When Rose said that Michael was a loser and Bridgett was a tramp, that scene was uncomfortable. It was real and chilling considering their off screen relationship. There was major Method acting between Bea and Betty. It was jarring to see Rose meaner and harsher than Dorothy.

by Anonymousreply 110January 16, 2023 2:54 AM

R109 here. Of course Kirsten relented AFTER she knew that the girls would take care of Rose, regardless. She was such a bitch.

by Anonymousreply 111January 16, 2023 2:57 AM

Right, R111? When Kirsten realized she wouldn't be on the hook for her own mother's medical bills. What a cunt.

Marguerite, the maid whom the girls fired and then kissed her ass.

by Anonymousreply 115January 16, 2023 2:22 PM

R115 why? Marguerite was great! She admitted to being a lousy maid and laughed off the girls thinking she had some kind of voodoo powers. There's worse things she could have been doing in Blanche's bedroom rather than studying for her finals..

Any mention if Dr. Budd the sexist doctor who didn't believe Dorothy had chronic fatigue syndrome? The scene where she confronts in in the fancy restaurant is classic Golden Girls: "You dismissed me, you made me feel like a child!" and when he attempts to talk over Dorothy his wife tells him to shut up. Ive known quite a few smug doctors in my day so that episode was cathartic for me. If he's already been mentioned my apologies.

You’re thinking of that fancy boy, Lazlo.

Yes, we remember it and you were correct on the details.

Lazlo r153

by Anonymousreply 155January 25, 2023 9:42 PM

Gee, thanks, r155.

We hadn’t read that on the post before yours a half hour ago.

WTG, Magoo!

[quote]Does anyone remember the episode I'm talking about?

r153 you're posting on DL, dear. There's probably a caftan-wearing poster who owns the original script, autographed not only by the four main cast members, but also Tony Jay ("Laszlo Glagorian"); a ticket from the live audience taping; and a pair of boots worn by Bea Arthur during the episode.

Hey!

Did you peek in my safety deposit box?

by Anonymousreply 158January 25, 2023 9:50 PM

My only GG connection is having been in the audience for "The Mangiacavallo Curse" episode.

by Anonymousreply 159January 26, 2023 7:01 PM

Was there ever a character called Lezlo?

by Anonymousreply 160January 26, 2023 10:53 PM

Just Jean.

by Anonymousreply 161January 26, 2023 11:16 PM

I still suspect that Rose teased Jean with her big Scandinavian titties...

by Anonymousreply 162January 26, 2023 11:20 PM

I never liked Jean

by Anonymousreply 163January 26, 2023 11:21 PM

Well, she was Lebanese. Danny Thomas was too.

by Anonymousreply 164January 27, 2023 12:29 AM

Dorothy, Rose, Blanche and Sophia.

by Anonymousreply 165January 27, 2023 8:16 AM

r165 = Frieda Claxton
