R54, that was Bobby Sherman, not Jay North. He lived with Sal and Jill off and on in those days. The biography adds the detail that it was on Valentine's Day that she found them, and she quickly packed a bag and moved out forever.

Jay North was slated to replace the lead actor in the Fortune In Men's Eyes in 1969 but after months of success the play was losing audience numbers and the play closed down before he can begin his role. It's likely Sal Mineo hooked up with Jay during that period.

I'm not so sure R61 if he would've ended up like Brando or Hopper. Mainly because of homophobia not because he's wasn't talented. Audiences of his day were not very tolerant.
