He was starting to morph into a Lesbian ala Michael Moore.

by Anonymousreply 1January 8, 2023 3:09 PM

I don't know him...

by Anonymousreply 2January 8, 2023 3:11 PM

GASP!

by Anonymousreply 3January 8, 2023 3:11 PM

This must have just happened. There's no other news about him on the internet.

by Anonymousreply 4January 8, 2023 3:12 PM

He was only 54?

by Anonymousreply 5January 8, 2023 3:12 PM

54 was enough.

by Anonymousreply 6January 8, 2023 3:24 PM

I bet Susan goes within a few days.

How many of his TV sisters did he fuck?

My guess is two, plus Betty.

by Anonymousreply 13January 8, 2023 5:52 PM

I’m so sad ! He struggled with severe depression. Oh damm this sucks!!

by Anonymousreply 14January 8, 2023 6:01 PM

Is he the first celebrity for 2023 ? Last year it was Bob Saget on Jan 9.

Who had him on their 2023 Bingo card ?

by Anonymousreply 15January 8, 2023 6:10 PM

His Twitter account is all about his battle with treatment resistant depression. He tweeted he was struggling. He had not posted anything since mid December

by Anonymousreply 16January 8, 2023 6:11 PM

R16- He probably should have gone with Magic Mushrooms 🍄

by Anonymousreply 17January 8, 2023 6:16 PM

OP- In your photo he looks like an older gay male.

by Anonymousreply 18January 8, 2023 6:17 PM

R17, he did use magic 🍄. He was sober from all other substances for 7 years

by Anonymousreply 19January 8, 2023 6:29 PM

He was very cute as a little boy.

Article at OP says that TV dad Dick Van Patten bailed him out of jail after he smashed a pharmacy window, trying to get drugs.

by Anonymousreply 20January 8, 2023 6:50 PM

Very sad

by Anonymousreply 21January 8, 2023 6:56 PM

Dianne Kay and Adam had a special bond on set . Adam admitted to a serious crush on DK. I bet she is deeply sad

by Anonymousreply 22January 8, 2023 6:59 PM

Fentanyl poisoning?

by Anonymousreply 23January 8, 2023 7:01 PM

More than likely suicide . He was sober

by Anonymousreply 24January 8, 2023 7:02 PM

Aww, that’s a shame. I really enjoyed his song “Behind Closed Doors.”

by Anonymousreply 27January 8, 2023 7:13 PM

This morning when they made the announcement on the new - they said “Sad news from Hollywood ..” on screen Adam was in a scene with Susan Richardson - I thought sure it was HER not Adam Rich - and of course I thought of Datalounge immediately!

by Anonymousreply 28January 8, 2023 7:20 PM

I really never even knew the symptoms of depression, so I didn't know I was suffering from it. I thought my sobriety would cure my depression. It changed things up for a year or so, but even sober from all drugs and alcohol for years, I still have bouts of depression. It is frustrating, but remaining vigilant is key.

I feel bad for Adam Rich. I thought Lani O'Grady was the only other sibling from the show who'd died?

by Anonymousreply 36January 8, 2023 7:51 PM

Wow, I felt sad reading his Twitter posts. He was really struggling.

by Anonymousreply 37January 8, 2023 7:52 PM

by Anonymousreply 45January 8, 2023 8:25 PM

TODAY is her birthday!

Happy Birthday Laurie Walters

by Anonymousreply 46January 8, 2023 8:27 PM

Oh, sure. Adam made sure of that.

by Anonymousreply 47January 8, 2023 8:28 PM

by Anonymousreply 48January 8, 2023 8:28 PM

R48- The love of your BEARDED life.

by Anonymousreply 49January 8, 2023 8:29 PM

Cause of death is not mentioned. Procovid activists will claim this death is the result of the vaccine.

by Anonymousreply 50January 8, 2023 8:30 PM

by Anonymousreply 53January 8, 2023 9:08 PM

After becoming an award-winning, platinum-selling writer, producer/director Willie Aames took a 5-year hiatus and became a 6-star cruise director spending his time circling the globe and visiting over 127 countries. Recently Aames returned to his roots in acting and film making, splitting his time between Los Angeles and Vancouver, BC, with his wife, Winnie Hung. Aames has two children, Christopher and Harleigh

by Anonymousreply 62January 8, 2023 11:43 PM

Willie Aames is still handsome, although of course he's short.

by Anonymousreply 63January 8, 2023 11:50 PM

by Anonymousreply 78January 9, 2023 1:45 AM

He was starting to bear a strange resemblance to Dave Foley.

I’m a year younger than him, and in my school, at lunch, in the late ‘70s, kids would “play” TV shows. The mean girls in my class always bullied me into playing Nicholas (I mean, I had the haircut). I adored him at the time!

To know he suffered from severe depression (I know what that’s like) and may have ended his life is horrifically sad. 🥺

by Anonymousreply 113January 9, 2023 12:41 PM

I feel bad for these kids who were once child stars, mostly bankrolling the whole family, only to be cast aside as adults. That's nice that Dick Van Patten helped him out, though it's particularly sad when adults like Christina Applegate talk about how their adult co-stars were more like their parents than the actual parents.

Though when I saw this thread, I knew that America's Sweetheart Susan would find a away to make this be all about her!

by Anonymousreply 114January 9, 2023 1:46 PM

It’s amazing that kid stars like Mackenzie Phillips were able to pull through. In her case her drug addiction. Mac has said Bonnie Franklin was never a parental figure and and really just a co star. I think part of the reason it took Mackenzie so long to overcome her addiction was she had absolutely no one close to her. Dick Van Patten helped Adam out and I believe posted his bail when Adam was going through his drug phase. Nice that their relationship transcended the show.

by Anonymousreply 115January 9, 2023 1:58 PM

I didn't care for this show. I'm afraid it was not my favorite.

My husband was far more handsome. And a young wisecracking boy might seem interesting, but a young, wisecracking androgynous tomboy is far more compelling!

by Anonymousreply 116January 9, 2023 2:48 PM

R116- Eight Is Enough and Family seemed like cousin shows for some reason.

by Anonymousreply 117January 9, 2023 2:58 PM

I can't believe Susan Richardson outlived him.

by Anonymousreply 118January 9, 2023 3:06 PM

R118- I agree. If datalounge had a bet who was going to kick the bucket next Susan Richardson would have been at the top of the list.

I think Mary Bradford/Lani O'Grady had some of the same issues as Adam Richman- sad for both. Lani was very likeable on the show.

by Anonymousreply 119January 9, 2023 3:09 PM

Lani probably committed suicide too, so if turns out Adam did the same thing how absolutely tragic and awful this would be.

by Anonymousreply 120January 9, 2023 3:18 PM

That was nice that the father from EIE Dick Van Patten bailed out his tv son years ago. He was a nice person in real life. I remember something he said years ago-

You are only as successful as the show you're on

You can be on a hit show for years , lots of adulation from fans etc and then the show goes off the air because the writers feel they've done as much as they can for the characters. The actors fall into obscurity for the rest of their lives which is what happened to almost all of the actors . Betty Buckley is very talented and of course has a had a successful career in the theatre and a couple of movies. Willie Aames went on to appear in that CRAPPY show with the two bit actor Scott Baio ( Who would you rather do ca. 1982 Willie or Scott?- for me I would prefer Scott Baio.) Ralph Macchio appeared in the last season of the show and he went on to some success too with his Karate Kid movies but the rest of them just faded. Oh well.

by Anonymousreply 121January 9, 2023 3:22 PM

Out of all the kids, I thought Goodeve would have had the best EIE career. Beautiful man with some talent. I guess this is true considering he’s worked non stop after the show, but in mostly forgettable stuff.

by Anonymousreply 122January 9, 2023 3:50 PM

I didn't realize that was Grant singing the theme song at R110.

Given his vocals.....errr, it was probably wise for him to stick to acting.

Willie Aames did have a decent run as an actor after the show. He was a regular on Charles in Charge ran for 5 seasons. He was also the lead in the films Paradise and Zapped which were studio films. They were panned by critics, however, and didn’t do great at the box office.

by Anonymousreply 155January 10, 2023 1:02 AM

Paradise was a ripoff of the Blue Lagoon

My goodness! I didn’t know Prather’s crime was so dramatic!

[quote]"Eight Is Enough" Star Busted in "Drag" Race

[quote] Joan Prather -- Janet McArthur Bradford on "Eight Is Enough" -- was arrested on felony hit-and-run charges over the weekend, after she allegedly dragged an L.A. County Sheriff's deputy down PCH with her car.

[quote] The deputy attempted to stop Joan after she drove past barricades and road cones during the Malibu Triathlon.

[quote] According to the Malibu Surfside News, when Raines extended his arm -- motioning for Joan to stop -- his watch became entangled in her car. She didn't stop and Michael had to run alongside the car for 20 feet until other deputies intervened.

[quote] The cop was treated at a local hospital for a sprained arm. Joan was booked on a felony hit-and-run and released on $50,000 bail.

R158 did her Smile co-star Barbara Feldon bail her out? No?

Dick Van Patten seemed like the nicest guy. I wasn’t surprised to read he bailed out Adam. It seemed like something he’d do.

by Anonymousreply 165January 10, 2023 2:11 AM

R163- She also played a FRAU CUNT on a VERY special episode of Family with the LESBIAN school teacher Miss Jessup.

by Anonymousreply 166January 10, 2023 2:18 AM

Van Patten himself was a child actor, on Broadway as "Dickie" Van Patten from age 7, so he may have well understood and empathized with Adam Rich and the stresses of starting young in a show biz career.

Susan belonged in a trailer for "Sophie's Choice." Great untapped talent.

I just saw Susan Richardson on an old episode of "Password Plus" from the late 1970s on Buzzr. She wasn't as terrible at the game as I thought she might be, but she seemed a little unfocused. Her partner had to keep poking Susan to turn around and look at her when she was trying to give her a clue.

His autopsy results are in.

Adam Rich, who starred in the hit series, "Eight Is Enough" died from an overdose that's become far too common in America -- the culprit was fentanyl.

The L.A. County Medical Examiner's autopsy report, obtained by TMZ, says Adam's died in an accidental overdose of the powerful opioid. He also had non-toxic levels of alcohol and lorazepam... the generic for Ativan.

TMZ broke the story ... the former child TV star was found dead back in January inside his L.A. area home. At the time, foul play was not suspected. The M.E.'s report says his body was in a "state of mild decomposition."

Law enforcement later told us, his death was likely the result of an overdose ... adding the manager at Adam's apartment building found his lifeless body inside the bathroom and there was also a white powder substance, believed to be drugs.

Rich, who was 54, struggled with drugs for years and was once arrested for allegedly trying to steal pills from a pharmacy ... leading investigators to initially believe he overdosed.

Now, we have a clear understanding of what exactly led to his death.

Adam will be best remembered for his role as Nicholas Bradford, the youngest son on "Eight Is Enough." He stayed on the series for its entire duration from 1977-1981.

Throughout his career, he racked up other credits such as "Code Red" in '81 and "Dungeons & Dragons" in '83. He even made VH1's list of the greatest 100 kid stars, locking in the #73 slot.

Just a couple of weeks ago I remembered he had died but didn't recall the cause. It's sad how fentanyl is causing so many deaths.

The "He was sober" posts were premature.

He was an active drug addict like Britney. Depression fuels drug abuse and drug abuse causes depression.

Why is anybody shocked?

The country went to war over 2,996 deaths on 9/11. The Sinaloa and Jalisco Cartels—the two drug cartels based in Mexico that are responsible for the vast majority of the fentanyl and methamphetamine are killing that many in weeks and we open the borders for their couriers.

Go figure

by Anonymousreply 197June 24, 2023 2:43 PM

Adam thought he was doing cocaine I believe. There was white powder in the area where he was found dead . Adam was severely depressed. I believe he wanted some chemical relief and it was laced :( I know someone who died from a fentanyl laced Xanax .

[quote] Somebody who is sober doesn't overdose on Fentanyl

This is actually pretty common. When someone has been sober a long time and they go back to using, they'll use the same dosage or amount they used the last time they did drugs, at the height of their addiction. But if they've been clean months or years, that's going to be way too much since their body no longer has the tolerance they built up as addicts. Many former addicts overdose immediately upon relapsing.

by Anonymousreply 205June 25, 2023 9:54 AM
