Timothee Chalamet's agent claims he hasn't auditioned for a part for seven years

First of all, why is one of the most powerful Hollywood agents even replying to stuff like this?

Secondly - we're really meant to believe that Chalamet hasn't had to audition since 2015? That'd be before Call Me By Your Name.

This PR strategy is really working overtime to try and make this guy seem like a prodigy, but it's just backfiring. It sounds ridiculous, and also makes them sound like assholes.

People have already been able to show it's a lie, as he auditioned for Beautiful Boy in 2016

by Anonymousreply 1January 7, 2023 11:10 PM

Might as well enjoy it while he can, he's about a movie away from Hollywood realizing that he can't carry a movie to profit.

by Anonymousreply 2January 7, 2023 11:14 PM

Wonka is going to be the tombstone for his career.

by Anonymousreply 3January 7, 2023 11:45 PM

It’s called a casting couch, not an audition.

So technically, he’s right.

by Anonymousreply 4January 8, 2023 3:09 AM

Hey Brian, what did his scrawny little ass feel like?

by Anonymousreply 5January 8, 2023 3:18 AM

Not a fan nor a stan of this guy but

[quote] People have already been able to show it's a lie, as he auditioned for Beautiful Boy in 2016

Which was.....seven years ago.

by Anonymousreply 6January 8, 2023 3:25 AM

This is the agent who just happens to be married to one of the producers on Call Me By Your Name. He wants to make as much money while he can on this kid so of course he'll brag about his client "not auditioning for anything in seven years." Like he's some sort of acting genius and the future king of Hollywood.

by Anonymousreply 7January 8, 2023 3:27 AM

There are no movie stars anymore. Chalamet is a product of media hype and PR propaganda.

by Anonymousreply 8January 8, 2023 3:41 AM

I love you, Timmy. Fuck these Datalounge bitches. They hate as easily as they breathe.

by Anonymousreply 9January 8, 2023 3:54 AM

R2: Amazing how his PR was able to cover up the utter flop of Bones & All. I thought the international premiere was cancelled because there were too many fans dying to see him.

by Anonymousreply 10January 8, 2023 4:03 AM

I love how you all pretend to not like him.

by Anonymousreply 11January 8, 2023 4:05 AM

r7

The producer produced Call Me By Your Name BECAUSE the husband is Timmy’s agent.

by Anonymousreply 12January 8, 2023 4:13 AM

Maybe that's because he hasn't submitted to the CASTING COUCH in 7 years

by Anonymousreply 13January 8, 2023 4:15 AM

He looks like a child, so of course the perverts in Hollywood want him cast.

by Anonymousreply 14January 8, 2023 4:18 AM

Even with me too and Weinstein’s conviction, does the casting couch still exist.

by Anonymousreply 15January 8, 2023 4:31 AM

[quote]There are no movie stars anymore. Chalamet is a product of media hype and PR propaganda.

Hahahaha! Right, because the stars of yesteryear NEVER had any media hype or propaganda machines behind them.

by Anonymousreply 16January 8, 2023 7:26 AM

Define "audition".

by Anonymousreply 17January 8, 2023 7:45 AM

Is this something to proud of? I’d rather actors had to at least show they were right for a role & had chemistry with their screen partner, even if they are approached with them in mind.

by Anonymousreply 18January 8, 2023 7:57 AM

Everyone auditions for Woody Allen, even for 5 mins (or less). So, if Timothee did his audition before 2016 this floats, although the movie was released several years after that (in Europe, then America). But, did he?

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 19January 8, 2023 8:12 AM

I like Timothee a lot, but statements like this, especially from one's reps, sound ridiculous. Doesn't come off good.

by Anonymousreply 20January 8, 2023 11:04 AM

He's so overrated. I avoid anything with him in it.

by Anonymousreply 21January 8, 2023 12:46 PM

His acting sucks so I believe it.

by Anonymousreply 22January 8, 2023 1:58 PM

The media never criticizes or scrutinizes this pipsqueak so naturally the agent will gloat about his client.

by Anonymousreply 23January 8, 2023 2:08 PM

Technically true, since sucking a producer's cock isn't really an audition.

by Anonymousreply 24January 8, 2023 2:15 PM

R10 How is it flop? It has 82% on Rotten Tomatoes

by Anonymousreply 25January 8, 2023 2:19 PM

In regards to the casting couch dynamics, do you have to fuck the producer in a variety of positions or just suck his cock? I’ve always been interested.

by Anonymousreply 26January 8, 2023 2:20 PM

R25: It grossed only $14 Million against a reported $16-20 Million budget.

by Anonymousreply 27January 8, 2023 2:21 PM

[quote] How is it flop? It has 82% on Rotten Tomatoes

R25 doesn't understand the most rudimentary facets of the movie business.

by Anonymousreply 28January 8, 2023 2:23 PM

Bones & All: The Timotay Chalamet Story

by Anonymousreply 29January 8, 2023 2:25 PM

R25 is also a Timmystan

by Anonymousreply 30January 8, 2023 2:27 PM

Boners and All, you mean

by Anonymousreply 31January 8, 2023 2:27 PM

The sight of him evokes a lot of feelings and things but a boner is not one of them.

by Anonymousreply 32January 8, 2023 2:30 PM

R27 R28 a commercial flop, not a critical one

by Anonymousreply 33January 8, 2023 2:40 PM

His agent sounds like a class act. What a moron.

by Anonymousreply 34January 8, 2023 2:43 PM

r19 Probably not, one of his relatives is close to Woody and that's how Timothee got the part.

by Anonymousreply 35January 8, 2023 4:42 PM

It just seems so odd that Swardstrom even bothered commenting in the first place. And then to reply as he did, as if auditioning was beneath Chalamet, rather punctures that humble facade they were trying to build

by Anonymousreply 36January 8, 2023 4:46 PM

The consensus seems to be he fucked his way to the top.

by Anonymousreply 37January 8, 2023 4:49 PM

r37 Which shows you what shit taste film execs have

by Anonymousreply 38January 8, 2023 4:51 PM

R36: I never bought the humble facade. He has annoying prick written all over him.

by Anonymousreply 39January 8, 2023 4:56 PM

R35: He donated his salary and said his PR crafted statement only AFTER his agent and PR told him to in order to increase his slim Oscar chance that year.

by Anonymousreply 40January 8, 2023 4:57 PM

r40 It was all so blatant too. There was months of criticism which he just ignored, and as you say, it's only once the Oscar buzz started that he did those things.

by Anonymousreply 41January 8, 2023 5:52 PM

R3: Pray that it flops.

by Anonymousreply 42January 8, 2023 6:46 PM

Bones & All went fairly quickly to VOD for $19.99 a pop. How much will that add to its take. All the young teens who couldn’t get into an R movie get to watch at home.

by Anonymousreply 43January 8, 2023 7:49 PM

Not much. All his teen fans are only fans of him because he's the cool trendy thing to be a fan of. So since Bones & All flopped, they won't be interested in it. You can already see this with his fan accounts basically acting like it doesn't exist and declaring it a bad film (which he was a producer of)

by Anonymousreply 44January 8, 2023 7:51 PM

Multiple people were up for Paul in Dune. Such a huge potential franchise wasn’t just given to Chalamet, a completely unproven box office draw. He may not have auditioned per se, but he definitely had to meet with Villeneuve, and I’m quite sure there were chemistry meetings and screen tests with Zendaya.

by Anonymousreply 45January 8, 2023 7:59 PM

Denis has said Chalamet was his only choice to play Paul and without him there was no Dune. They did meet to discuss it though.

by Anonymousreply 46January 8, 2023 8:04 PM

He obviously knew only Chalamet could deliver a performance as dull of Denis's vision

by Anonymousreply 47January 8, 2023 8:12 PM

Can someone explain to me when DL turned against him? I remember when Call Me By My Name was released and he was instantly DL’s Fave with countless threads about him. Now he’s considered a no-talent who gets his roles via the casting couch.

What happened?

by Anonymousreply 48January 8, 2023 8:15 PM

Sorry, that should’ve been Call Me By Your Name.

by Anonymousreply 49January 8, 2023 8:16 PM

r48 the fraus fucked off

by Anonymousreply 50January 8, 2023 8:23 PM

I think it was when he started wearing women’s clothes on the red carpet

by Anonymousreply 51January 8, 2023 8:26 PM

Of course Timothee Chalamet doesn't audition and wouldn't have in years. That's how it works, when you reach a certain level people come to you with the script to ask if you want to do the role.

by Anonymousreply 52January 8, 2023 9:09 PM

R52: Until you become box office poison.

by Anonymousreply 53January 8, 2023 9:23 PM

[QUOTE]I remember when Call Me By My Name was released and he was instantly DL’s Fave with countless threads about him.

This never happened.

by Anonymousreply 54January 8, 2023 9:27 PM

R54, it actually did happen. There were countless threads about Timothee and Armie possibly being in a secret relationship off-screen. I would link them, but Datalounge has deleted older threads.

by Anonymousreply 55January 8, 2023 9:29 PM

Soon Datalounge will begin deleting older users.

Then where will we be?

by Anonymousreply 56January 8, 2023 9:52 PM

r55 Only fraus believe that Charmie shit, and there were a fuckton of them on DL around that time. We successfully got rid of them over time, with them fucking off to Tapatalk. Hence why Muriel deleted those threads.

They'd constantly insist anyone who didn't believe their fanfic was being homophobic, which is how you could tell they were straight women.

by Anonymousreply 57January 8, 2023 10:02 PM

[QUOTE] There were countless threads about Timothee and Armie possibly being in a secret relationship off-screen.

Those threads were probably made by a couple of Timothee stanning loons, who proceeded to fill them with inane bickering. A stream of threads doesn’t necessarily reflect popularity among DL at large.

by Anonymousreply 58January 8, 2023 10:05 PM

Directors frequently say that kind of nonsense publicly R46. It almost never happens. Not for a giant franchise. I know of two actors who were seen for Paul, one of who was seen and tested several times. Chalamet was not the only person considered.

by Anonymousreply 59January 8, 2023 10:36 PM

I've always been fascinated with how he got signed with this agent. He may not come from an acting family per se but I think the media and fangirls alike are oblivious to or deliberately ignore his connections. His aunt probably got him the job on Homeland. I can picture his headshot with the words Amy Lippman's nephew written on the back. After only I think the minor role on Homeland and an off off Broadway play, he gets signed with this elite agency. CMBYN had been in development hell for years. The agent told his producer husband that he had "found Elio." Does anybody else think it was more like I fucked Elio?

by Anonymousreply 60January 9, 2023 11:43 PM

Only if it's a bottom role.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 61January 10, 2023 12:04 AM

r60 Since Swardstrom is so active on Twitter, I wonder if he'd answer any questions about any other clients he's signed with so few credits and little experience. Something definitely went on there.

Then there are the photos of when he stayed with James Ivory in upstate NY, where he's giving off 'rent boy taken to dinner' vibes

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 62January 10, 2023 12:29 AM

R62: Not that they're still twinks but Swarstrom does have a thing for twinks: Chalamet, Emile Hirsch, Ben Foster, etc.

by Anonymousreply 63January 10, 2023 12:44 AM

I think people turned in Timmy when it became well known that he is a jerk in real life. His outfits are for attention and he is also hyped through stupid memes.

Bones and All was a flop. I think his agent is threatened by other upcoming stars like Austin Butler or Paul Mescal who are a threat to Timothee.

by Anonymousreply 64January 10, 2023 12:58 AM

Yeah it's a total Tom Hanks situation. People realized what an asshole he is. Getting high at The French Dispatch premiere, holding up the cast while he soaked in the applause, ignoring the press aide who told him to get out of the photo call, bullying the girl at LaGuardia, bullying at Manhattan Plaza, etc. I agree that the agent is definitely getting nervous. Bones & All was a test of his bankability and it was a flop. Elvis is arguably Austin Butler's breakout role so I don't think it was a sure bet at the box office. It was a commercial success. Also, Austin seems much more likeable than Chalamet.

by Anonymousreply 65January 10, 2023 1:16 AM

Everyone seems more likable than Rat Boy.

by Anonymousreply 66January 10, 2023 1:20 AM

[quote]bullying the girl at LaGuardia

I missed this one, what happened?

by Anonymousreply 67January 10, 2023 1:31 AM

Just that he bullied a girl so badly that she left LaGuardia. Also he's supposedly not very nice to industry people in lowly positions and I remember someone on here saying he tormented some kid with an intellectual disability at Manhattan Plaza.

by Anonymousreply 68January 10, 2023 1:39 AM

Ha, I thought there was an incident at the airport. My brain just caught up.

There was also that girl who he hooked up with and tried negging her. And the douchey videos of him rapping, bragging about getting head.

by Anonymousreply 69January 10, 2023 2:39 AM

Tried “negging” her?

by Anonymousreply 70January 10, 2023 4:40 AM

r70 Yes

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 71January 10, 2023 2:50 PM

The story there is he met a girl at a party, got her number, they arranged to meet up, and then when they did he kept making comments like "you're not as hot as I thought you were", etc. Basically using the bullshit tactics that 'pick up artists' promote.

by Anonymousreply 72January 10, 2023 2:51 PM

It's common knowledge that when he has you for dinner he has you for dinner.

by Anonymousreply 73January 10, 2023 7:54 PM

The Twitter account FilmUpdates is on Timothee’s payroll. The owner of that account is apparently a Timothee stan.

by Anonymousreply 74January 17, 2023 9:24 PM

I know everyone hates him but I’d take Austin Butler in Elvis over any Timothee performance.

by Anonymousreply 75January 17, 2023 9:25 PM

I know Timothee’s team was pissed Austin won a Golden Globe before him.

by Anonymousreply 76January 17, 2023 9:25 PM

R76: If he ever wins a Golden Globe.

by Anonymousreply 77January 18, 2023 3:40 AM

He’s a nepo baby who peaked in Call Me By Your Name.

by Anonymousreply 78January 18, 2023 2:13 PM

R78: He sucked a few dicks along the way too.

by Anonymousreply 79January 18, 2023 2:18 PM

I don’t like being a hater and not denying he has talent but I just don’t see what’s so special about his acting. Like why does he get all the good roles and directors who want to work with him?

Timothee really isn’t as popular as we are led to believe. I’m 25 and asked my friend who’s the same age as me if he knows who Timothee is and he said no. He knows Tom Holland tho and has even heard of Austin Butler because he used to date Vanessa Hudgens but when I brought up Timothee my friend was clueless.

by Anonymousreply 88January 22, 2023 4:44 AM

Tom Holland definitely needs to bottom for me!
