‘The Real Friends Of WeHo’: Starring Brad Goreski & Todrick Hall premieres 1/20

The show will follow the lives of celebrity stylist Brad Goreski, choreographer and singer Todrick Hall, actor Curtis Hamilton, CEO of Buttah Skincare Dorión Renaud, TV host and business owner Jaymes Vaughan and digital entrepreneur Joey Zauzig.

The cable network describes The Real Friends of WeHo as an “unfiltered and honest look at a select group of friends living, loving and pursuing their passions in the West Hollywood community. Consisting of some of Hollywood’s most influential and successful LGBTQ+ celebrities, personalities and entrepreneurs.”

Wasn't an unwatched version of this with lesser knowns on last year?

[quote]The Real Friends Of WeHo

What does that even mean? It sounds like babytalk, something Trump the lazy buffoon would utter.

by Anonymousreply 2January 5, 2023 5:56 PM

R1 Men of West Hollywood was a different show.

by Anonymousreply 3January 5, 2023 5:59 PM

I am so excited to see this!!!!!!!

Says no one.

by Anonymousreply 4January 5, 2023 6:27 PM

They ALL look so straight

by Anonymousreply 5January 5, 2023 6:37 PM

This is why I hate them.

by Anonymousreply 6January 5, 2023 6:40 PM

[quote]and successful LGBTQ+ celebrities[/quote]

Why don’t they just say “gay”?

by Anonymousreply 7January 5, 2023 6:43 PM

Todrick Hall has friends?

by Anonymousreply 8January 5, 2023 6:51 PM

Something that nobody asked for or cares about

by Anonymousreply 9January 5, 2023 6:57 PM

Brad Goreski makes even me feel homophobic.

by Anonymousreply 10January 5, 2023 7:07 PM

Oh, please.

by Anonymousreply 11January 5, 2023 7:09 PM

If he does have friends I am pretty sure Brad Goreski is not one of them, R8.

by Anonymousreply 13January 5, 2023 7:13 PM

If Todrick Hall acts as he did in Big Brother, he will lose more fans.

by Anonymousreply 14January 5, 2023 7:20 PM

I’m here for trash TV… but I absolutely will not watch anything with Todrick Hall.

by Anonymousreply 15January 5, 2023 7:30 PM

Chris Salvatore claims he was fired from the show after a week of filming because cast members refused to work with him when they discovered he had an OF.

Can’t link to it but it’s on his Twitter

by Anonymousreply 16January 5, 2023 7:31 PM

I shall not be watching.

But let me know if Brad makes a fool of himself.

by Anonymousreply 17January 5, 2023 7:32 PM

I loved IT'S A BRAD BRAD WORLD but that was mostly because of hubby Gary.

by Anonymousreply 18January 5, 2023 7:33 PM

Chris Salvatore is very performative. I know he’s an actor but your real life shouldn’t feel like you’re acting.

by Anonymousreply 19January 5, 2023 7:34 PM

I found Chris Salvatore adorable in his first Eating Out movie. His character became insufferable in the sequel.

Frankly, the show and other cast members actually made a huge mistake in cutting him out because of OF. That's the type of drama people want in a reality show. We WANT to hear the other bitches gossip behind his back and smile to his face.

by Anonymousreply 20January 5, 2023 7:39 PM

To be fair none of these gays have an OF and clearly they didn’t want that stereotype of a gay man in sex work on their show. They make it a point to all be career oriented. Not that sex work can’t be a career, just not the type most would find respectable.

by Anonymousreply 21January 5, 2023 7:50 PM

Chris Salvatore and Karamo were such a weird couple. I couldn’t see their personalities meshing.

by Anonymousreply 22January 5, 2023 7:51 PM

[quote]To be fair none of these gays have an OF and clearly they didn’t want that stereotype of a gay man in sex work on their show.

So, they weren't interested in "reality" for their reality show?

by Anonymousreply 23January 5, 2023 7:53 PM

They were interested in their reality. Not the reality of so many gay men doing sex work for easy cash.

by Anonymousreply 24January 5, 2023 7:54 PM

Prostitution is not a real job. It's a lazy way out. It would be an insult to have a hooker on the show if everyone in the group is supposed to be a professional.

by Anonymousreply 25January 5, 2023 8:05 PM

R25 Interesting you chose the word prostitute, because I saw a video recently of someone calling out OF workers and all the people who get upset when they are labeled as such, because that is what it is. Being on OnlyFans is you selling your body for money. It’s prostitution. But they don’t like being called that.

by Anonymousreply 26January 5, 2023 8:08 PM

Chris probably would have been the most authentic person out of that group.

by Anonymousreply 27January 5, 2023 8:10 PM

[quote] clearly they didn’t want that stereotype of a gay man in sex work on their show.

Jaymes Vaughan was a male stripper!

by Anonymousreply 28January 5, 2023 8:11 PM

As if Brad Goreski got anywhere because he's talented

by Anonymousreply 29January 5, 2023 8:13 PM

Salvatore doesn't do porn.

Just nude posing.

Not even an erection much less penetration/cum shots.

by Anonymousreply 30January 5, 2023 8:15 PM

R28 he worked for Chippendales. They don’t do full nudity where they have their dicks out. He spoke about this. He also never wore anything less than a speedo.

by Anonymousreply 31January 5, 2023 8:20 PM

Performing for Chippendales isn’t the same as jerking off and sucking dick on the internet for money. Let’s not act like they’re the same.

by Anonymousreply 32January 5, 2023 8:21 PM

They are all "pussy boy bottom bitches"

They cannot be in the same room with other bottoms. Who are these producers kidding?

Bottoms can't stand each other like that!!

by Anonymousreply 33January 5, 2023 8:28 PM

[quote]If Todrick Hall acts as he did in Big Brother, he will lose more fans.

This is his redemption from that fiasco.

by Anonymousreply 34January 5, 2023 8:30 PM

"Sex work is work"

by Anonymousreply 35January 5, 2023 8:30 PM

[quote]Performing for Chippendales isn’t the same as jerking off and sucking dick on the internet for money.

That's the thing, though.

Salvatore is NOT doing those things on his OF.

by Anonymousreply 36January 5, 2023 8:51 PM

Sex Work = Digital Prostitution = Onlyfans = hooker = slut = hoe

All these Gen Whatevers try to make their bullshit into something it’s not, call it “scat” all you want honey you still eating doodoo…

[quote]"Sex work is work"

by Anonymousreply 38January 5, 2023 10:00 PM

They’re going to be the worst stereotypes of gay men. Unfortunately most masc gays with any dignity would never sign up for a show like this, so we’ll never get well-rounded representation.

by Anonymousreply 39January 5, 2023 10:02 PM

What??? R39 I am masc!

by Anonymousreply 40January 5, 2023 10:07 PM

I'd rather stick pins in my eyes.

by Anonymousreply 41January 5, 2023 10:13 PM

On episode 1 they will surprise the cast with an additional New Real Friend:

Which one?

1) Frankie Grande

2) Sam Smith

3) George Santos

by Anonymousreply 42January 5, 2023 10:17 PM

They should have included at least a dyke or one faghag. Americans do not like to watch a bunch of gay men being the main character(s), unless they’re in drag or playing assistant.

Straight Eye works because they’re basically worshipping straight people. Will & Grace worked because they were sidekicks.

by Anonymousreply 43January 5, 2023 10:21 PM

Is Brad Goreski’s dong as attractive, as sizable, as circumcised as Chris Salvatore’s? That’s the big dramatic question for me.

by Anonymousreply 44January 5, 2023 10:26 PM

R43 the main cast are gay men. The hags will be friends of…

by Anonymousreply 45January 5, 2023 10:30 PM

by Anonymousreply 70January 15, 2023 7:54 PM

r66 well Dorian has been around forever. He was on College Hill, a 2004 reality show about college students at historically black colleges. That predates most of anything these other guys were doing

I'll definitely watch to see how he's evolved over the last 20 years, he's a pretty cool guy

by Anonymousreply 76January 16, 2023 6:39 PM

Nah. OF cheapens what they’re going for.

by Anonymousreply 77January 16, 2023 6:42 PM

r77 well if it's an "honest look" about gays in WeHo it surely would include someone who sells their body online.

by Anonymousreply 78January 16, 2023 6:48 PM

It’s about career oriented gays r78. Not about gay stereotypes who sell their bodies for easy cash.

by Anonymousreply 79January 16, 2023 7:01 PM

They’re all whores. What’s the point?

by Anonymousreply 80January 16, 2023 7:30 PM

I have no idea who R71 is but he's now my favorite.

by Anonymousreply 81January 16, 2023 8:56 PM

R67, you think homophobes will watch a show about gay guys in WeHo? Well, maybe the repressed, closeted ones will...

by Anonymousreply 82January 16, 2023 8:58 PM

I'll watch this, but only so I can do research on the sinful gay lifestyle

by Anonymousreply 83January 16, 2023 8:59 PM

I'm watching the premiere episode right now. Nice to see Brad and Gary. The rest are trash and not as important as they think they are.

by Anonymousreply 84January 21, 2023 2:46 AM

I have SO BEEN LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS!!! It will give me and my friends an in-depth look at famous Los Angeles homosexuals! I rabidly follow Andy Cohen and Jeff Lewis already. We will really be on the inside track now.

by Anonymousreply 85January 21, 2023 2:59 AM

I’m sure they’re great fun at cocktail parties, but my precious crunch-surfing time will not be wasted on this.

by Anonymousreply 86January 21, 2023 3:25 AM

Why is Todrick hated? I vaguely remember something about him not paying his bills.

by Anonymousreply 87January 21, 2023 3:29 AM

• Alleged scammer who doesn't pay his rent, vendors, or performers and exaggerates his wealth

• Played a vicious, sociopathic game on Celebrity Big Brother

• Alleged sex pest

by Anonymousreply 88January 21, 2023 3:37 AM

It's not alleged. Many people have called out Todrick Hall on how he hires people for services, but never actually follows through on paying them. Manila Luzon called him out how she never got paid for a event she did for him.

And yeah, it's public record how he got sued for not paying rent. On this house that he tried to pretend he owned! Because he is that much of a petty person he needed people to think he bought it rather than renting it. It's so pathetic.

by Anonymousreply 89January 21, 2023 3:51 AM

Can someone recap the episode instead of rehashing gossip about TH? He had numerous threads on him and those incidents already

by Anonymousreply 90January 21, 2023 11:19 AM

Should this be called The Exhausting Try-Hards?

by Anonymousreply 91January 21, 2023 12:03 PM

That would involve someone watching it r90.

by Anonymousreply 92January 21, 2023 2:43 PM

"Can someone recap the episode instead of rehashing gossip about TH?"

Some nobody was getting engaged to another nobody, and they were throwing themselves an engagement party to which a lot of other nobodies were being invited.

That's all I got. I was more engaged with the solitaire game I was playing on my phone.

by Anonymousreply 93January 21, 2023 2:54 PM

Joey is exhausting. Then there's some douche who keeps telling everyone he's an entrepreneur and travels with a bodyguard. Todrick is on some kind of a redemption tour. Brad at least has a career and a successful long term relationship/marriage to someone else who has a real career and they both seem out of place with these losers.

by Anonymousreply 94January 21, 2023 4:22 PM

r94 = Brad

[bold]'The Real Friends of WeHo' Is a Colossal, Gay Nightmare[/bold]

[quote]MTV wants to use [italic]Drag Race[/italic] as a flagship franchise to launch a new property, and the six stars of [italic]The Real Friends of WeHo[/italic] see it as a paycheck and branding opportunity, rather than a job. That means that no one is actually considering what audiences ultimately want to see, because it sure as hell is not this.

by Anonymousreply 96January 21, 2023 8:31 PM

Pretty boring

by Anonymousreply 97January 21, 2023 8:33 PM

I just watched...bland for the most part.

Brad is the eldergay of the group. Agree with r94 about Joey, he's the trainwreck and Todd is on a damage control tour. Dorion had a bad attitude on College Hill and he still has it. Jonathan Bennett's husband is forgettable. Curtis is really the only compelling one to watch because he's just coming out as gay and dealing with it in real time.

The reviewer at r96 calls them arrogant self-branding machines, but what alterative is there? A-list gays (the handful of them) will never do reality TV, and if they did the gays would say they are desperate. And apparently Onlyfans whores are an underclass that we bust nuts too but don't want to see on TV. So here we are.

by Anonymousreply 98January 21, 2023 9:19 PM

Speaking of A list gays, why was I never asked to be on this show?

by Anonymousreply 99January 21, 2023 9:26 PM

R98. I actually forgot about Jonathan Bennett's husband who was at least honest enough to admit that they really wanted to cast Jonathan but he turned them down. Smart guy.

by Anonymousreply 101January 21, 2023 9:40 PM

Why do they have to be celebrities r98?

I think a cast of a real gay social group that lives in WeHo and watching their antics would be more fun. Celebrities are going to be more hyper aware of the camera and their image. A Real World style show would be messier and more fun.

by Anonymousreply 102January 21, 2023 9:42 PM

r102 those type of shows really only exist online now, ie Bad Boys Club on Zeus. The gays on these online shows are messy and violent as fuck, as they have no "brands" and images to uphold. MTV has a brand to uphold now as well, they can't have anything too crazy following RuPauls now multi-Emmy award winning show.

by Anonymousreply 103January 21, 2023 10:03 PM

[italic]Bad Boys Los Angeles,[/italic] for those who didn't see it, came out about a year ago and was produced by [italic]Bad Girls Club[/italic] alum Miss Natalie Nunn. The cast includes Andrew Caldwell, who went viral for being "delivert" from wanting mens. It is, in a word, ELEGANT.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 104January 21, 2023 10:50 PM

Well, r104, Bad Boys is a Bad Girls spinoff. Those shows cast people who are violent and crazy. Most other shows don’t do that.

Bad Boys is aired on Zeus because no regular network will air that shit in 2023.

I think part of the problem is that they cast this show around Brad, who is in his mid 40s. Its hard to imagine him associating with most of these guys. If this show was on Bravo and the rest of the cast was older it may have worked better.

by Anonymousreply 114January 23, 2023 12:30 AM

by Anonymousreply 137January 27, 2023 11:26 AM

It was an exhausting watch, even though it was as dull as ditchwater. We're the individuals interesting, likeable, or aspirational? Nope. Not in my book.

Honestly, I struggled watching it all. Todrick bleating on about the negative comments surrounding him was exhausting to watch. He's been banged to rights for his various short comings, he should suck it it and move on, but no we have this exhausting 9 page look at me diatribe.

I got to the end not wanting to know anymore about any of the dull individuals. I do think the idea of a less celebrity approach to the show would go well. Surely, there must be some interesting and not totally fucked up gay men in the gay nirvana that is West Hollywood!

by Anonymousreply 138January 27, 2023 11:45 AM

If it is based on the female versions of Real Whatevers, then this cast of D and Q list "celebs" is appropriate. I rarely like the Real series though I found the Dubai one very illuminating, and with a lot of eye candy from Emirates glamour.

Brad Goreski is a shrieking queen who's desperate need to be the center of attention is exhausting.

Can't wait for tonight's new episode!

Reality TV has devolved since the Real World popularized the genre.

Everyone is hustling and positioning themselves at every moment, looking to fuel conflict, thereby pushing and clawing their way into the spotlight for the benefit of their “brand.”

If you can enjoy it for the staged/heightened conflict, go forth. Or turn it off. It’s kind of good for the soul.

Todrick is wearing a caftan and at least one earring in OP's photo.

Sucked in cheeks, plucked eyebrows.

Todrick looks like the guy who is always wearing 2 pairs of spanx.

This week's episode felt less awkward, but still bland.

Dorion and Joey both are self-branding douchebags! Dorion must've said CEO about 100 times in this episode.

Curtis is hot as hell and really the only interesting part of the show. Its hard to watch him struggle with the realization that he can no longer can't satisfy everyone in family and have his own life.

No wonder Todrick's home has been burglarized. He has the whole gayborhood up in there, using it for a dance studio, fashion studio and everything else.

This show was originally supposed to be "The A-List: Los Angeles", a reboot of "A-List New York". Dorion says it ended up being rebranded and put on MTV, instead of Paramount+, like it was originally intended. He also says the cast were largely unfamiliar with each other, and of course, some of them don't live anywhere near WeHo.

Explains a lot of why the show seems disjointed and out of place, it has been totally regurgitated by executives who likely thought gay people would watch it anyway.

I was totally bored by the second episode. I won't be watching again.

I only enjoy watching Curtis. Brad is funny…but he’s messy. James is fine but only in small doses and he’s best with Jonathan. The rest are ick

by Anonymousreply 151January 29, 2023 1:44 AM

James came off way better in the episode, he actually seems like a nice person and I like that he still has an accent

Curtis was country as hell too, here he is during his football days way before he became an actor
