I'm going to miss them.
Final Jan. 6th Committee public hearing today, 12/19/2022
by Anonymous | reply 203 | December 24, 2022 5:07 PM |
I wish they’d do this in prime time. It’s too easy to ignore in the middle of the day, the week before Christmas
by Anonymous | reply 1 | December 19, 2022 2:25 PM |
I wonder why they didn't, r1.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | December 19, 2022 2:36 PM |
I suspect they wanted to get it out before everyone's attention is completely subsumed by The Holidays after work today. A lot of people start taking vacation/traveling after today.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | December 19, 2022 2:48 PM |
These are legitimate hearings. The networks have paid programming in the evening. Primetime ad rates, etc. Not willing to cancel. By doing it during the day the proceedings maintain their level of gravitas and they also get maximum coverage analysis and repeats all day and evening long.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | December 19, 2022 2:54 PM |
But what about Hunter Biden's enormous, engorged cock?
by Anonymous | reply 5 | December 19, 2022 2:59 PM |
I'll be watching.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | December 19, 2022 3:08 PM |
That makes sense, r4.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | December 19, 2022 3:13 PM |
Is this the OFFICIAL Watch thread?
by Anonymous | reply 8 | December 19, 2022 4:09 PM |
I haven't come across another, r8.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | December 19, 2022 4:41 PM |
There is one other thread started with only a few replies. I think we should stick with this one.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | December 19, 2022 4:44 PM |
Good pregame commentary on CNN & MSNBC. Fox News is ignoring it so far.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | December 19, 2022 4:49 PM |
I watch and listen to him. I really like him. Is he gay?
by Anonymous | reply 12 | December 19, 2022 4:52 PM |
I hope they put the screws to Kevin McCarthy as well.

Criminal referral of Dump coming soon. And his tax returns about to be released to the public. It's going to be a miserable Christmas for Mango Mussolini (which makes me happy).
by Anonymous | reply 15 | December 19, 2022 5:01 PM |
What was "dat ass" I just saw on CNN? A shame they cut away.

Will sexy Adam be wearing his tight suit, showing off those bulging biceps?
by Anonymous | reply 17 | December 19, 2022 5:08 PM |
The committee members just sat down and the gavel just went...
by Anonymous | reply 18 | December 19, 2022 5:08 PM |
This is a waste of time, IMHO. Unless Republicans feel some type of shame and accountability this is all meaningless. And, of course we all know that they don't and won't. Most Republicans (along with their staffs) are listening to this on the periphery and are more concerned about securing this evening's dinner reservations. This is an exercise and theater for the Democrats.

Ms Cheney is wearing Blue Wave blue again today. You go girl!
by Anonymous | reply 20 | December 19, 2022 5:13 PM |
All menopausal blondes should get the name of Liz Cheney's colorist!
by Anonymous | reply 21 | December 19, 2022 5:14 PM |
R19 It is for the benefit of history if nothing else.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | December 19, 2022 5:15 PM |
And, that's about it, R22. What we are witnessing here is basically a repeat of what happened after the Civil War. The ex-Confederates couldn't care less . When it was clear that no one was going to jail, being hanged, or even going to trial, within days and hours they were back to their business as normal
by Anonymous | reply 23 | December 19, 2022 5:19 PM |
Of course Congress will do nothing with this -BUT the Justice Department will. There will be indictments.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | December 19, 2022 5:20 PM |
[quote]There will be indictments.
There will be 2 people who will take the fall. Eastman & Clark. That's it. Oh! And, Trump will be ineligible to run again either legally or because there simply is no interest. But, do you really think that Cruz, Hawley, Jordan, and 30-40 other Republicans are going to suffer any type of consequence or be held accountable?
by Anonymous | reply 25 | December 19, 2022 5:26 PM |
r25, you don't think Mark Meadows will be indicted? Seriously?
by Anonymous | reply 26 | December 19, 2022 5:28 PM |
If Trump is indicted for conspiracy then others will have to be named and indicted along with him.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | December 19, 2022 5:30 PM |
And I believe Trump will be indicted for conspiracy. No doubt about it.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | December 19, 2022 5:31 PM |
[quote]If Trump is indicted for conspiracy
Trump and quite a few other Republicans should be arrested for their TREASON committed against this nation.
[quote]And I believe Trump will be indicted for conspiracy. No doubt about it.
And then what?
by Anonymous | reply 29 | December 19, 2022 5:32 PM |
Every single one of Trump's enablers deserves to be executed.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | December 19, 2022 5:34 PM |
Lock him up, r29! Pretty simple.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | December 19, 2022 5:34 PM |
I meant Mark Meadows. Not that I like Kevin McCarthy but it's not his time. Yet.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | December 19, 2022 5:36 PM |
There has to be the realization that these are extraordinary times and just because there's no precedent for indicting, convicting, arresting and jailing a former President., there's NO reason it can't and yet must happen now.
History is watching.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | December 19, 2022 5:36 PM |
[quote]Every single one of Trump's enablers deserves to be executed.
I agree. But, who of the Confederacy was executed? Many of them had statues erected in honor of them.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | December 19, 2022 5:37 PM |
The lovely Hope Hicks FINALLY makes an appearance!
Unsurprisingly, she's not very articulate.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | December 19, 2022 5:38 PM |
Didn't realize Hope had such vocal fry.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | December 19, 2022 5:38 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 44 | December 19, 2022 5:43 PM |

Trump and his conspirators nearly overthrew the government. The Committee can't even get the police to pick up anyone who ignored their subpoena

by Anonymous | reply 57 | December 19, 2022 5:57 PM |
There were no trials and hangings after the civil war because of backroom deals over Reconstruction. Those early post-war administrations were corrupt, to say the least. I think it's clear that our nation's failure to hold those rebels accountable for their actions -and the subsequent coddling of them, their ideas, and their supporters -is what what led us to our present dilemma. I hope we don't repeat the mistake today.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | December 19, 2022 6:01 PM |

Everyone at that January 6th event on stage that day, should've been executed right there on stage on live television for the whole world & country to see, fir committing treason. Including Trump. The Fed's should've shot Everyone in the fucking head right there on the spot, to send a message to anyone else who think you can try to overthrow the U.S. government & nothing won't happen to you.
That's exactly what should've happened!!
by Anonymous | reply 62 | December 19, 2022 6:04 PM |
This is really well put together. Can’t wait till they get to their recommendations.

[quote]There were no trials and hangings after the civil war because of backroom deals over Reconstruction.
That's my point. 700K plus dead meant nothing. The overthrowing of our government, the killing and injuring of officers. etc mean nothing when it comes down to power. What this Committee is doing right now is just doing what Republicans want to do but for some reason can't do. They want to get rid of Trump too.
by Anonymous | reply 65 | December 19, 2022 6:07 PM |
Raskin says the committee will be making a criminal referral of Donald Trump, John Eastman and others.

Did Austin Butler get a job as a congressional aide? He seems to be sitting behind Raskin.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | December 19, 2022 6:09 PM |
I think there were a lot of sympathetic types within law enforcement R62, which is why that didn't happen. The origins of this insurrectionist type thinking also occurred when the Bundys took over federal lands years ago. I thought they all should have been blown away then, but that didn't happen either. It only emboldened them to go further. You have to put down violent rebellion, otherwise they just regroup and try again.
by Anonymous | reply 70 | December 19, 2022 6:09 PM |
R63, yes, very well constructed, like a skilled court prosecution. I keep reminding myself that none of this gets out to those who need to pay attention. But it is for history, and it is for the Justice Department.
by Anonymous | reply 71 | December 19, 2022 6:11 PM |

R80 They did their job very, very well. The usual tribes will respond in predictable ways.
Next step in the DOJ's lap.

Cool, it was a unanimous vote. I wonder if he will go to jail. I hope.
by Anonymous | reply 82 | December 19, 2022 6:18 PM |
So that’s it. Now let’s see what DOJ does.
by Anonymous | reply 83 | December 19, 2022 6:19 PM |
More to the point, R80, i hope the American public are satisfied that they did their best. For my part, I think they all acted heroically, in the best interests of our country and our people. They demonstrated courage and integrity in the face of overwhelming corruption and cravenness.
by Anonymous | reply 84 | December 19, 2022 6:19 PM |
Contrast these hearing with what we're about to see come out of the next Congress--Gym Jordan and Large Marge screaming and hollering about Hunter Biden's cock and butt plugs being sold at CVS. It's going to be a clown show.
by Anonymous | reply 85 | December 19, 2022 6:20 PM |
Unfortunately, the news this evening will probably only present the recommendations without going into the evidence much.

At least Hunter's cock is more worthy of discussion than Drumpf's little mushroom nub.
by Anonymous | reply 89 | December 19, 2022 6:22 PM |
It's over, R87. Now the backlash can begin...
by Anonymous | reply 90 | December 19, 2022 6:23 PM |
Dayaaam R62! You’re fucking hardcore!
by Anonymous | reply 91 | December 19, 2022 6:23 PM |
R70 And that's the problem. The U.S. government is sorry as fuck. People who commit treason are supposed to be executed. This country won't learn from its past, (reconstruction) which was a massive disaster & completely fell apart. Everyone behind January 6th really needs to be held accountable for what they did on that day & to this country. Trump should not be allowed to get away with his bullshit.
This is exactly why faith in government is in the toilet currently. It's time they do their damn jobs.
by Anonymous | reply 92 | December 19, 2022 6:24 PM |
Thanks, r90…I thought I saw people sitting at the “witness table” today and thought they might be coming back.
by Anonymous | reply 93 | December 19, 2022 6:24 PM |
I often wonder how different things would be if Trump had actually been allowed to make it to the Capitol on Jan 6th. Would Republican members of Congress be able to deny his involvement if Trump was there leading the assault on the building, would he have been removed from office on Jan 7th. Or God forbid would Trump have been successful. Would one of the Capitol Police have shot Trump.
by Anonymous | reply 94 | December 19, 2022 6:25 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 96 | December 19, 2022 6:27 PM |
So often public hearings are for show. THey're circuses. The level of credibility, and serious factual information is in short supply. What this committee did was restore and elevate the function of a serious investigative hearing. They were serious. They put partisan performative bullshit aside and put our country and our Constitution and our laws first. It was very sobering. From start to finish it graphically showed the world the impact of all the bullshit that came out of Trump' mouth. One huge message from this? When Trump says stuff, do not dismiss it. Take it seriously. Something too few in the media did for the past 7 years.
by Anonymous | reply 97 | December 19, 2022 6:27 PM |

For White people. (Oh yes, I have to take this here) Do you know how many of the minority classes have sat back and watched this blatant outright illegal activity go on and NOTHING i bad really happen to anyone while they are killed over a missing taillight?

That's the brilliance of the committee.

it's really maddening that the scum bucket pieces of shit repubs are about to take over the House so the ethics investigations will be promptly dismissed
every single member of congress involved in Jan 6 should have been expelled immediately
I hate that the US government and law means accountability takes way too long so in many cases corrupt elected or appointed officials get away with crimes

"Everyone at that January 6th event on stage that day, should've been executed right there on stage on live television for the whole world & country to see, fir committing treason."
If it had been Obama and a bunch of minorities pulling that bullshit, that's exactly what would have happened. If it had been white Democrats, the Pukes would have given the Dems a couple of days to get their affairs in order, but they still would have been executed before the end of January.
Just goes to show the two different standards of justice that are applicable in this great American society of ours. But because this was a bunch of rich white guys, they get special, kid-gloves treatment.

What's important is the fact that his supporters and money people are deserting him, his numbers are way down, and there are viable alternatives to him as potential candidates for POTUS. This will give the DoJ some cover. I will say this. I believe that if these referrals had happened a year or more ago, the DoJ may have been reluctant to go after him. However. Andrew McCabe seemed to temper the enthusiasm by talkoing about how difficult it would be to make a case against Trump. A legal case. McCabe was trying tp prepared us for the likelihood Trump would walk.

"He attacked a Secret Service Agent who told him they would not..."
That's a he said/she said probable lie. Didn't they even have some murky video that kinda looked like he sorta reached forward? I don't believe a word of it.
It's something Trump would want put out there for his supporters. That he 'fought like hell' to be there with them- but they wouldn't let him!!
Again: Mafia Don always has his underlings do the nasty stuff. Even his own sons.

Ivanka groomed Hope to give daddy what he wants.
NYT-
Ms. Hicks’s time with Mr. Trump began when she was working as an aide for his elder daughter, Ivanka Trump, on her fashion brand. He hired her for his skeleton staff when he began his campaign for president in 2015, and because the campaign was so small, Ms. Hicks, then 26, was constantly at Mr. Trump’s side (and front and back)
From there, she became indispensable to Mr. Trump, and once he became president, he brought her into the West Wing. Some newer and more senior aides tried to block Ms. Hicks’s access to the president, but her relationship with him outlasted most of their tenures.

I written this many times before; Republicans couldn't give a shit about "history". How will they be affected? Do you think that Justice Taney (who has been long dead) worried about his name being associated with one of the worst (if not the worst) decisions ever made by the SCOTUS? Also, do you think it worries him (or, his descendants) that his bust was removed from the Capitol? No! What mattered was the "here and now" then, and the result.
What happend to guy that said that the insurrection was nothing more than tourists visiting the capitol? Didn't he get re-elected?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but.....
When there is talk of "flipping" a witness, does that mean simply breaking a witness down so that the witness comes through with the truth the prosecutors need?
Or is it more specifically about breaking the witness down by offering the witness some sort of plea bargaining or lesser punishment so that the witness is more willing and eager to comply with the prosecution?

If they had as well, no way Dump slides by this mess. He would have been 25th and charged with insurrection.
by Anonymous | reply 183 | December 20, 2022 1:37 PM |
TL;DR- This 15min NYT video shows how the operation was planned, . This committee didn't even touch this subject as to not impact the trials.
The PB/Oathqueefers were waiting for the OK from the Willard Hotel who were watching TV, waiting for the mob to find Pence or Pelosi or for the bombs to go off OR to see a black man hit a white woman. Any of those things would give Trump a reason to take power. White people are protesters and black people form angry mobs.
Jan. 6 testimony revealed that there were snipers in trees. Yesterday we found out hundreds of knives were confiscated before Trump wanted to "turn off the metal detectors". We know that arms were stashed nearby in hotels and boats (!). The goal wasn't to "stop an official proceeding" it was to give Trump a reason to declare Marshall Law (with a 20 percent discount).
Unfortunately for Flynn/.Stone/Rudy, the bombs didn't go off which would have been the final straw , and most importantly, not a single BLM/ANTIFA/Drag queens group showed up to give FOX news pictures of angry black people.

In a parallel dimension, if they had successfully killed Mike Pence--I wonder what the GQP would've said. Would Miss Lindsey, Ted Cruz, and Josh Hawley still have fallen in line and defended tRump/MAGA? I think they are so craven that they would've defended it. Certainly if Pelosi or any other Democrat were pulled out of there and killed, they would have acted like it was no big deal.

Even by delusional politician standards, that's quite a feat

Well, it appears as if Liz Cheney has ruined the holiday season for a few Republicans...
Look... while everything is now in the hands of Merrick Garland and the DOJ, I believe that there will have to be a groundswell movement from us commoners to bring justice. Bar associations throughout the nation should be bringing charges of disbarment against many (if not all) of these so-called lawyers who participated in this scheme to overthrow our government. The public must demand that elected officials who participated in this scheme be brought to task and that would include people such as Newt Gingrich.

I have a question for anyone willing to share; While I suppose most people have adapted to not talking about politics at gatherings and/or disassociating yourself with family and friends who are of the right-wing, etc., but has there been any changes in any of those people's beliefs about Trump, conservatism, the Republican party, given all of this FACTUAL information that is being revealed?
I had a friend (although he thinks that we still are, and I follow his Instagram to call out his craziness when he goes too far) who is a right-wing loon although he calls himself a Libertarian, who used to post consistently the right-wing nonsense talking points, "hate the libs", etc. I've noticed that in the last 3-4 months those type of postings have become less frequent and almost to the point where they are non-existent. I wonder to myself if he has finally realized what a fool and idiot he has been?
I sort of follow this woman on YouTube (Patricia Dickson--a Black woman) who was very pro-Trump and posted numerous videos spewing right-wing nonsense at least once a week. But, earlier this year her posting videos became much less frequent (her excuse was YouTube censorship) and no more inaccuracies about the election being stolen, blah, blah, blah. Her videos (whenever she now posts them) are about the RINOS and how conservatives are being mistreated. This is a marked change from her earlier content.
Has anyone else noticed any changes among your circle?
by Anonymous | reply 199 | December 24, 2022 1:03 PM |
I think you’re right, R199.
The craziest of my extended family loons are retreating somewhat back into their shells. It may be related to Trump’s plummeting star.
When he (and junior) were riding high, the mishpacha would make loud, bigoted, crazy-ass statements knowing there was a network of equally looney MAGATs willing to voice support. They were the establishment.
Now, Trump’s smoldering toast. Fewer hangers-on want to be associated with a loser. There’s less backup for their braggadocio. They primarily mumble about the libs to each other.
by Anonymous | reply 200 | December 24, 2022 1:27 PM |
Agreed r199/r200. Funny enough (or disgustingly enough), I think what’s really losing Dump supporters is not that people finally see the light, but that he’s now perceived as a loser. People hate being associated with a loser. They don’t mind being associated by a racist Nazi, as long as he’s a winner.
