Vincent Price: Scott Bowers called him "Vinny." When they met, Price was a newlywed, "but Vinny was decidedly gay and the marriage would not last," Bowers writes in "Full Service," the memoir that inspired [a] documentary. As Bowers tells it, "l tricked Vinny for years. Sex with him was pleasant, unhurried, gentle High-class stuff all the way.

They do suck though. Our advice is that you should not click on the link and whatever you do, don't read their truly terrible articles.]

Manners was married briefly from 1929-32. He began a relationship with his long time male partner in the late 40s after his film career was over.
He was very handsome but also a conservative Republican, though back then that didn't mean what it does now.

Jeremy Brett was married twice, the first time to the wonderful actress Anna Massey. He also had gay relationships but was not a bachelor.

Sure, he was married. But being a 'confirmed bachelor' does not ask for marital status. The term was code for 'homosexual', a euphemism.

The very handsome Charles Farrell, who was a big star in silent films but in the 1930s turned his attention to real estate and the development of Palm Springs and make quite a fortune. He was married to the actress Virginia Valli for many years but it was a lavender marriage. They had no children. He lived a long time, dying in the early 1990s.

While being gay, Rock Hudson was married at one point to a woman, so was not technically a "confirmed bachelor."

R2 - never seen that Dirk B photo before. He looks really sexy in that casual look.
r12 - I guess I haven't seen Richard Chamberlin that young before. Had no idea he was quite a stud. Guessing he had fun in his younger days!
R16 - Woof! George Maharis was a stud!
R13 - I love the grace and empathy you show these men.

I don’t think Charles Farrell was gay. He was having a long-term affair with William Powell’s wife, Mousie, when Bill became impotent due to cancer surgery.

Anthony Perkins was once suspected of this status. But then lo and behold he finally met the right girl!

Hopefully they were BFFs and Ms Berenson knew the score. Not many options for gay guys who wanted kids back in those days.

I remember seeing reruns of "My Little Margie" when I was about 6 years old and thinking that Farrell had gay voice. And I didn't even know what "gay" meant back then.

Yes, that’s why he was often thought to be gay, even back in the 1930s, because of the voice and the pursed lips (I say this as a big fan lol) as well as the association with Janet Gaynor.

Charles Farrell had an admiring eye for young Rock Hudson.

If you were watching "My Little Margie" at age 6, any 'straight genes' you might possess had no chance.

A DLer (male) claimed to have had sex with Grant Williams. But it was when Williams was older, not at the peak of his career. From what I remember, he said Williams was really uptight and self-loathing

Anthony Perkins and Broadway dancer/actor Grover Dale had been having an affair when Dale broke things up. He was seeing an analyst, who became notorious for using therapy sessions to turn gay men “straight.” She convinced them she could get them to the point where they could fall in love with a woman, marry and father children. Perkins was intrigued and started undergoing the same therapy with this quack of a psychiatrist (who was a woman).
By the time Perkins did “The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean,” he was able to have a physical affair with Victoria Principal, who was also in the cast. She was his first woman. He went on to marry Berry Berenson (I don’t know what her deal was sexually) and they had two sons but at some point he began again having affairs with men and was quite promiscuous. (Dale married Anita Morris and I don’t know if he ever resumed sex with men as Perkins did). Perkins reportedly learned he had AIDS by reading about it on the front page of The National Inquirer, which had paid a hospital underling to leak the results of his HIV test.

We can only imagine what it was like for them and all the shit they had to go through, unable to live their lives openly. It had to be very lonely and frustrating much of the time.

Watch the movies I produced - there were always lots of 'fun' guys in supporting and small roles.
And watch my friend Herman Cohen's movies, see you can spot the guy who got fucked to be in a small role.....it's easy!
