Yes, that’s why he was often thought to be gay, even back in the 1930s, because of the voice and the pursed lips (I say this as a big fan lol) as well as the association with Janet Gaynor.

(Dale married Anita Morris and I don’t know if he ever resumed sex with men as Perkins did). Perkins reportedly learned he had AIDS by reading about it on the front page of The National Inquirer, which had paid a hospital underling to leak the results of his HIV test.
