When I was in my mother's womb and developing as a fetus, a series of predetermined hormonal events occurred, which produced a male infant body with a hormonally-coded male brain. This is an actual thing that happens, to every fetus, before birth. A series of hormonal changes determines your physical body and your brain's development. It happens to different degrees and with slightly different hormonal exposures with everyone, with a different mix of hormones, but it happens to everyone. As a child and adult, I have felt mostly comfortable being in that male body.

My gender identity (in terms of gender terminology) is also generally male. I don't actually walk around thinking about my maleness that often. Left alone, I mostly just feel like a human trying to get by. I do have more traditionally "feminine" attributes than some men, less than others, but in social situations, I am pretty comfortable being just seen as a man.

And my sexual orientation is gay/homosexual. For reasons well-known to everyone here.

I don't care what your grandmother wore. If she felt comfortable identifying socially as a woman, fantastic. Her hair style isn't my business. My sister dresses in cargo pants and safety gear for work, and still thinks of herself as a very feminine straight woman. To me, personally, the gender category is just a big mess because most of us don't think of ourselves as gendered in our own heads. We're just humans with a bunch of contradictory impulses going on at the same time that we're trying to deal with.

But that category is important to some people, so there it is. Do whatever you want with it. Or don't.
