Vicky Hartzler's district was ridiculously gerrymandered (along with some others) to deny liberal Columbia Democratic representation. It stretches from the farm country south of KC east into Columbia, just enough to dilute the vote of the Democrats with all them gun totin', freedum lovin' Republicans out in farm country.

I have some good friends who live in Columbia in Vicky's district--they're glad to see her go but the one succeeding her is just as bad. Missouri has a really bad gerrymandering problem.

The public voted for redistricting in Ohio to be done by an independent panel of people. The panel submitted its recommendation and the Republicans sued to have it stopped. It languished in the State Court until time ran out and the Republican legislature voted on a new map of their choosing.
