Odd. I was already watching his how to make Swiss meringue buttercream video right now when I happened to see this thread. I've watched several of his videos and he gives very clear instructions. You just have to sort of ignore the overly white veneers, but he is a nice looking guy otherwise.

I've been making these since my early teens (53 now), and we just called them toffee bars. They are extremely easy to make.

I love Preppy Kitchen, it is relaxing and fun.

I made the orange cake and it came out lousy, but other recipes have been great and I just like his quirkiness.

His channel is extremely popular, and the gorgeous, goofy/sexy Steven Cusato from Youtube's NOT ANOTHER COOKING SHOW (highly recommended) admitted that his own mother's favorite chef is....John from Preppy Kitchen! Steven even made one of John's recipes on his show recently because his mother said it was the best.

It's rather have Nanaimo bars.
