I want to be underwhelmed. Winter edition. ⛄️

A place to post underwhelming stuff.

by Anonymousreply 600February 2, 2023 1:53 PM

I’m drinking an acrylic tumbler full of Pepsi Zero Sugar with lots of ice in it!

by Anonymousreply 1December 5, 2022 6:20 PM

Strongly considering updating my Grindr profile to “He had a hot ass but couldn’t live forever….”

by Anonymousreply 2December 5, 2022 6:21 PM

I’m enjoying a tall tumbler of Pepsi Zero Sugar w/ “lotsa” ice!

by Anonymousreply 3December 5, 2022 6:21 PM

I'm the crocheted tree ornaments Grandma made every year.

by Anonymousreply 4December 5, 2022 6:37 PM

My Scrub Daddy is supposedly top rack dishwasher safe however I hesitate to toss it in there. It just seems wrong.

by Anonymousreply 5December 5, 2022 8:05 PM

In my experience, most daddies prefer the bottom.

by Anonymousreply 6December 5, 2022 8:53 PM

R5 I bought a case of scrub daddies last year and am still using the 1st. I use it all of the time too.

by Anonymousreply 7December 5, 2022 9:52 PM

My taint is feelin itchy.

by Anonymousreply 8December 5, 2022 10:45 PM

Feelin bitchy

by Anonymousreply 9December 5, 2022 10:50 PM

I have decided to make bacon cheeseburger bites for a holiday potluck.

by Anonymousreply 10December 5, 2022 11:12 PM

Emojis are whelming.

by Anonymousreply 11December 5, 2022 11:22 PM

R1 and R3 I believe that any of the 'zero' drinks induce diarrhea. This is from personal experience and I just want to share.

by Anonymousreply 12December 5, 2022 11:44 PM

I made gingerbread (pepparkakor) cookie dough today and froze it, so I have a stockpile to bake for holiday parties in the next couple weeks.

Love my Scrub Daddy as well, but have never put it through the wash.

by Anonymousreply 13December 5, 2022 11:47 PM

I'm very particular about my bananas. I like them heavily freckled. I peel them and eat them ONLY sliced on a smaller plate 😋

by Anonymousreply 14December 5, 2022 11:50 PM

I like green bananas 🍌

by Anonymousreply 15December 6, 2022 1:53 AM

As a cook I murdered many bananas in all stages of life. They are good for my clawhand in cold weather.

by Anonymousreply 16December 6, 2022 4:10 AM

I prefer slightly underripe bananas. If you ever see those red-skinned (purplish / magenta color) bananas in the store, try them. They’re delicious.

by Anonymousreply 17December 6, 2022 4:16 AM

My iPhone X needs a new battery. Given that it’s 5+ years old, I’ve waded into phone shopping and I’m so confused. Sorry if I whelmed.

by Anonymousreply 18December 6, 2022 5:29 AM

Just get a new battery. I just replaced the battery on my iPhone 6S.

by Anonymousreply 19December 6, 2022 5:52 AM

But the new one is shiny.

by Anonymousreply 20December 6, 2022 5:54 AM

replacing batteries in old ass tech is stupid.

by Anonymousreply 21December 6, 2022 12:34 PM

I'm on the hunt for Nabisco Famous Chocolate Wafers so I can make my annual Christmas Icebox Cake with them. They get harder and harder to find each year.

by Anonymousreply 22December 6, 2022 1:56 PM

R22 that sounds delicious I love making old fashioned foods. I’m going to make a WW2 cake.

by Anonymousreply 23December 6, 2022 2:21 PM

Leaving us without the bottom panel seems a bit whelming r22.

by Anonymousreply 24December 6, 2022 2:30 PM

I am enjoying this…

Watermelon cucumber mint herbal tea.

by Anonymousreply 25December 6, 2022 7:26 PM

Why does a bright light make me sneeze? 😤

That happens to most people with gray or blue eyes.

by Anonymousreply 26December 6, 2022 9:59 PM

[quote][R1] and [R3] I believe that any of the 'zero' drinks induce diarrhea. This is from personal experience and I just want to share.

R12 I agree. Those 'zero' drinks should be used pre-colonoscopy. They will clean you out.

by Anonymousreply 27December 6, 2022 10:01 PM

r22, apparently my local chain has them, Market District in Pittsburgh. $6.49 a box. Amazon has them too, but you have to buy four, and they're more than $10 a box.

by Anonymousreply 28December 6, 2022 10:14 PM

Can you just use Oreos?

by Anonymousreply 29December 6, 2022 10:16 PM

R29 Is this supposed to be multiple choice?

by Anonymousreply 30December 6, 2022 10:20 PM

A whole bag of Oreo!

by Anonymousreply 31December 6, 2022 10:22 PM

R29, I am not R22 but, no, you can't use Oreos. The thin-ness of the Famous Chocolate Wafer soaks uo the whipped cream and creates an entirely new texture - a party in your mouth!

by Anonymousreply 32December 6, 2022 10:40 PM

[quote] a party in your mouth!

And everyone is coming!

by Anonymousreply 33December 6, 2022 10:42 PM

[quote]Just get a new battery. I just replaced the battery on my iPhone 6S.

R19 I wish I'd have done the same. Instead, I was comfortable with by 6S but bought a 14.

by Anonymousreply 34December 6, 2022 11:15 PM

I'm going to go in the kitchen soon and make my sandwiches for not Wednesday but Thursday's lunch.

by Anonymousreply 35December 6, 2022 11:16 PM

Thanks r28. I'm going to check out The Fresh Market tomorrow and some other smaller grocery stores around here I don't usually frequent. If I don't find any by next week I'll have to relent and order the four boxes from Amazon and hope they aren't all crushed when they arrive.

by Anonymousreply 36December 6, 2022 11:36 PM

R35 Why are you making a sandwich for two days in the future?

by Anonymousreply 37December 6, 2022 11:52 PM

R37- Tomorrow I have to make my salads for the week which can take up to 45 minutes. I don't want to have to make my sandwiches for Thursday as well.

by Anonymousreply 38December 7, 2022 12:05 AM

I’m watching Shelley Hack videos.

by Anonymousreply 39December 7, 2022 12:07 AM

I was just going to post what I posted on last year's Winter (sic, for fuck's sake), but I didn't feel like searching for it.

So.

Voila.

by Anonymousreply 40December 7, 2022 12:16 AM

I hate little dicks so much

by Anonymousreply 41December 7, 2022 1:22 AM

I’m going to warm up my soup now.

by Anonymousreply 42December 7, 2022 1:39 AM

My cats are sleeping, saving energy for their nightly 3 a.m. zoomies.

by Anonymousreply 43December 7, 2022 1:54 AM

It's raining on prom night. My hair is a mess and mascara flows right down my nose because of the storm. I don't even have my corsage oh gee, it fell down the sewer with my sister's id-

by Anonymousreply 44December 7, 2022 3:32 AM

My 8 lb cat has a bottomless pit of a stomach. I am starting to think he is a Trojan cat and there is a crew of space aliens in him recording data. Friskies are sustaining the whole operation.

by Anonymousreply 45December 7, 2022 5:39 AM

R45, we tell ourselves that it’s a response to Winter. If he’s healthy, he’ll shitzoom the calories. Perhaps you should suggest he try squatting over the toilet. He doesn’t have to learn how to flush - just use the toilet.

by Anonymousreply 46December 7, 2022 6:13 AM

[quote] Why does a bright light make me sneeze?

I have the same tendency. Apparently the wires in our brain for light sensitivity are near to those that control sneezing, and some of us have them bunched a little too close together, so one can trigger the other.

by Anonymousreply 47December 7, 2022 11:23 AM

Anna's Swedish Ginger Thins ( or whatever they are called) may also be used for a variation of the Famous Chocolate Wafer cake.

by Anonymousreply 48December 7, 2022 1:00 PM

I'm going to make a tuna melt for lunch.

I'll be using Land O Lakes American Cheese. Not Kraft American cheese singles, I don't like them. I believe a good old fashioned tuna melt is made with American cheese not some fancy schmancy cheese, not even cheddar.

by Anonymousreply 49December 7, 2022 3:02 PM

I bought Celestial Tension Tamer tea last night because I thought the dragon was cute. It's the cheapest tea you can buy. Had it for breakfast with saltine crackers and a banana.

by Anonymousreply 50December 7, 2022 3:05 PM

I'm off to pick up my grocery order at Kroger. They're out of elbow macaroni and sliced cheese, no subs offered.

by Anonymousreply 51December 7, 2022 3:16 PM

Egads r51. Every single brand of elbow macaroni and every type and brand of sliced cheese? What about the deli counter, can’t you get cheese there or are they out too? This is far from underwhelming.

by Anonymousreply 52December 7, 2022 3:55 PM

Cavatappi is better than elbow macaroni.

by Anonymousreply 53December 7, 2022 3:59 PM

My slice of frozen (homemade) banana bread is thawing on the counter. I'll have it after lunch.

by Anonymousreply 54December 7, 2022 4:40 PM

Whelm warning:

I ordered a pair of iPods Pro via Chase’s Apple Rewards and they sent me used ones. Probably some kind of fraud by an employee. But Chase won’t take them back until I submit evidence of fraud. Why put the burden on me?

by Anonymousreply 55December 7, 2022 6:08 PM

^When I paired them with my iPhone I got a warning “The owner of these iPods will be able to track your movements.” No thank you.

by Anonymousreply 56December 7, 2022 6:11 PM

That’s unsettling r55.

You may already researched it, but maybe Apple’s explanation can help you prove you got used ones.

by Anonymousreply 58December 7, 2022 6:41 PM

My face is so cold that I'm sitting here with my pyjama top pulled up over my nose.

by Anonymousreply 59December 7, 2022 7:05 PM

I’ve never seen an episode of “Bones” until today.

by Anonymousreply 60December 7, 2022 7:27 PM

by Anonymousreply 63December 7, 2022 7:51 PM

Itchy cooter

by Anonymousreply 64December 7, 2022 7:51 PM

We share 65% of our DNA with birds 🐦.

I like birds therefore I like being fairly closely related to birds.

Shocking is that we share a significant portion of our DNA with something we eat.

Bananas 🍌 which we share 50% of our DNA with.

by Anonymousreply 65December 7, 2022 8:19 PM

If we find birds creepy, r65, is that indicative of low self-esteem?

by Anonymousreply 66December 7, 2022 8:37 PM

Interesting r65. I’ve always thought that if I had been a dinosaur, I would’ve been a Pterodactyl.

by Anonymousreply 67December 7, 2022 8:47 PM

[quote] I bought Celestial Tension Tamer tea last night because I thought the dragon was cute. It's the cheapest tea you can buy.

I have been searching for a tasty caffeine-free tea to replace my coffee addiction. I had been avoiding Celestial Seasonings b/c of its past (founder believed in 6 different races and a hierarchy within same). However, I just found that I like "Country Peach Passion" (Celestial Seas.). Don't laugh at the name. I like the smell more than the flavor.

Anyway, apparently, CS was sold to Hain. Hopefully, Hain is an OK company.

If anyone has recommendations on caffeine-free tea, I'd really appreciate it.

So far, I like the Country Peach Passion and rooibos tea.

[quote] I'm going to make a tuna melt for lunch. I'll be using Land O Lakes American Cheese. Not Kraft American cheese singles, I don't like them. I believe a good old fashioned tuna melt is made with American cheese not some fancy schmancy cheese, not even cheddar.

I agree that a tuna melt should be made with processed cheese. I have a hard time finding the Land O Lakes American cheese. I think my local supermarket's deli might have something like it.

IMO, the best bread for a tuna melt is rye, which is kind of fancy schmancy.

by Anonymousreply 69December 7, 2022 9:05 PM

I resisted the lure of the shiny new iPhone and fixed my old one for $69. Feeling virtuous.

by Anonymousreply 70December 7, 2022 10:40 PM

Two days ago I ate an entire 48 oz container of peanut butter moose tracks ice cream and felt okay, but last night had a nightmare about parasitic worms.

by Anonymousreply 71December 7, 2022 11:36 PM

A whelming indulgence led to a whelming nightmare, R71.

by Anonymousreply 72December 7, 2022 11:42 PM

by Anonymousreply 73December 8, 2022 2:18 AM

[quote] I resisted the lure of the shiny new iPhone and fixed my old one for $69. Feeling virtuous.

That's almost exactly what it cost me to replace my iPhone 6S battery. I didn't feel virtuous, though.

by Anonymousreply 74December 8, 2022 2:26 AM

by Anonymousreply 88December 9, 2022 3:49 PM

At R80, I don't see what's so ingenious / useful about that kitchen hack. You might need something that's in that drawer. The drawer is sticking out and may be sloped downwards.

Also, she had a sales sticker on the underside of her baking sheet. That's a pet peeve of mine. People on videos, drinking from a mug, and there's a fucking sticker on the underside of their mug. Peel it off, get some Goo Gone, have some pride.

by Anonymousreply 89December 9, 2022 4:39 PM

If you find yourself in the vicinity of an Aldi this week, I highly recommend picking up a box or three of Benton's Fudge Covered Peppermint Creme cookies. Just as good if not better than Trader Joe's. They go fast.

by Anonymousreply 90December 9, 2022 4:41 PM

R90, those do look good. Frankly, though, I find the "fudge" covered Oreos to be good, as well.

[quote]get some Goo Gone, have some pride

Surprisingly enough, my pride is not remotely connected to Goo Gone.

by Anonymousreply 92December 9, 2022 4:58 PM

[quote]At [R80], I don't see what's so ingenious / useful about that kitchen hack.

r89, how very dare you disparage the staff of America's Test Kitchen. They have soldiered on after the shocking departure of bowtie guy and have come out on the other side stronger and better.

by Anonymousreply 93December 9, 2022 5:26 PM

My birthday today. PIgging out a chicken curry and a beer. Screw the calories today.

by Anonymousreply 96December 9, 2022 6:07 PM

Happy birthday r94

by Anonymousreply 97December 9, 2022 6:26 PM

Chicken curry isn't fattening, r94. Have dessert if you're really a Fat Troll.

by Anonymousreply 98December 9, 2022 6:48 PM

Just ordered a chocolate cake with peppermint buttercream icing from Caroline’s Cakes to be delivered for my small Christmas gathering on 12/24.

by Anonymousreply 99December 9, 2022 6:51 PM

Shingles doesn’t care.

by Anonymousreply 100December 9, 2022 6:53 PM

For Chrismukkah, one of my best friends is sending me Sloppy Joes from Town Hall Deli in South Orange, NJ. They're nothing like what people outside the Essex-Union-Morris tri-county area think of as Sloppy Joes.

I'm getting corned beef and turkey, in addition to the cole slaw and Russian dressing. I can't figure out, though, how they're going to make a trip of 350 miles without getting too sloppy to eat. They're scheduled to arrive next Friday.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 101December 9, 2022 7:03 PM

R89, seems you might have become a tad OVERwhelmed.

R90 the peppermint would overwhelm me, sadly. But, tomorrow is going to be my first trip, ever, to Aldi! So your post was somewhat fortuitous.

R101 love "sloppy joes". I live in Union County. First time I saw that I thought, "that's no stinkin' sloppy joe". But I shut up and ate it and overwhelmingly enjoyed it!

by Anonymousreply 102December 9, 2022 9:03 PM

I'm jealous, R101! I'm watching my weight (hopefully, going in a negative direction), and would love one of those! I usually get a ham and swiss or turkey and swiss SJ. The cole slaw makes or breaks the sandwich, IMO. Too dry and the sandwich whole sandwich is dry; too wet and the sandwich definitely becomes a SLOPPY joe! Enjoy!

I live in Morris County and there are plenty of delis that make them. Finding the best one is the key. I have a deli within walking distance of my house. In the Summer, I can sometimes justify the calories by walking there and back. It's about 1 1/2 miles roundtrip.

by Anonymousreply 103December 9, 2022 9:43 PM

R48- Anna's Swedish Ginger Thins is my name on OF. Coincidentally, I can also be used as a substitute for Famous Chocolate Wafers in a pinch.

by Anonymousreply 104December 9, 2022 9:56 PM

I have been drinking Assam tea. Darjeeling was getting a little disingenuous.

by Anonymousreply 105December 9, 2022 11:02 PM

r103 Cosmo, I'm more jealous. You can have a sloppy Joe anytime you like. I have to have them sent to me one state away (350 miles). Please, go and enjoy one as soon as you can. Town Deli is supposed to be the original source, so why not take a drive to South Orange!

by Anonymousreply 106December 9, 2022 11:06 PM

I enjoy a Manwich sloppy joe on a brioche roll. Yummy and not overwhelming; just good, good.

by Anonymousreply 107December 10, 2022 2:13 AM

I’m planning to go Christmas shopping at Marshall’s tomorrow and they open at 8 am. I should probably go to bed.

by Anonymousreply 108December 10, 2022 4:03 AM

I’m taking care of tasks long delayed. New meds must be working.

by Anonymousreply 109December 10, 2022 6:01 PM

R109- One of those TASKS was to start taking your meds.

by Anonymousreply 110December 10, 2022 6:24 PM

No, it wasn’t. I’ve been taking (other) meds all along.

by Anonymousreply 111December 10, 2022 6:29 PM

I had a long week dealing with difficult people! But I did get some See's Scotchmallows to have around the house this weekend.

by Anonymousreply 112December 10, 2022 6:42 PM

I’ve gone on an olive buying spree. I need to pick up the proper cheeses and crackers. I’m not feeling a need for cured meats this season.

by Anonymousreply 113December 10, 2022 7:22 PM

I have lost 47 pounds since May 2021 and I have not binged or eaten sweets in 91 days- I'm trying to save myself until Christmas Day when I will allow myself to INDULGE and BULGE - a bit.

by Anonymousreply 114December 10, 2022 7:24 PM

I'm sitting at my computer typing sentences at the datalounge. I'm quite thirsty but I'm to lazy to get up and go into the kitchen to drink a glass of water.

by Anonymousreply 115December 10, 2022 8:22 PM

I just made split pea soup. My favorite.

by Anonymousreply 116December 10, 2022 8:23 PM

I almost choked on a piece of chicken earlier and it left me reassessing my life.

Had I died I estimate no one would become alarmed until Wednesday when I'm due in the office. That's four days. The stench would be awful by then, no? At least my house is clean and organized and my important papers can easily be found in my home office, I actually have a binder labeled as such in clear view.

I should probably look into that Life Alert thingy. My dachshunds won't eat me, right? Just cats do that.

by Anonymousreply 117December 10, 2022 10:14 PM

by Anonymousreply 123December 11, 2022 8:44 PM

I would have been worried about slipping below the water and drowning, R124.

by Anonymousreply 126December 11, 2022 9:17 PM

R123, then I was wearing jeans and a half zip sweater and socks. Now I am free balling in basketball shorts and a hoodie, barefoot.

Now I am cradling my mug of tea, watching All Creatures Great and Small in the cozy glow of the Christmas lights.

by Anonymousreply 127December 12, 2022 1:16 AM

I just had a session with my therapist, Miss Monkey. I told her how I felt like everyone was an asshole but me. She said “you’re an asshole”. I looked at her and said you’re a cunt. Then I walked out.

by Anonymousreply 128December 12, 2022 5:10 PM

And how did you feel about that r128?

by Anonymousreply 129December 12, 2022 5:17 PM

I’m mad as hell r129.

by Anonymousreply 130December 12, 2022 5:23 PM

by Anonymousreply 131December 12, 2022 10:20 PM

by Anonymousreply 132December 12, 2022 10:25 PM

R132 serves you right.

by Anonymousreply 133December 12, 2022 10:36 PM

A couple of months ago, my brother asked the family (12-15 people) to save tomorrow to celebrate his 60th birthday which occurred over the weekend while he was traveling with his girlfriend. Today, the host, my cousin, sent out a confirmation/reminder and my brother writes “tomorrow or Wednesday?” Sorry, I double booked a work dinner for tomorrow. Can we do it Wednesday (No, we cannot).

Should I drink the bottle of Macallan I bought him?

by Anonymousreply 134December 12, 2022 10:56 PM

Yikes, R134, is that the kind of thing your brother normally does?

by Anonymousreply 135December 12, 2022 11:17 PM

Open the bottle r134 but don’t drink it all. Or give it to the cousin who likely went to a lot of trouble to plan a party no one attended. Who has a milestone birthday on a weeknight?

by Anonymousreply 136December 12, 2022 11:23 PM

Send him a $10 gift certificate to a store that’s out of business.

by Anonymousreply 137December 12, 2022 11:44 PM

by Anonymousreply 142December 13, 2022 1:47 PM

My smoke detector alarm just woke me up. There is no smoke, but how can I go to sleep—just in case?

by Anonymousreply 153December 14, 2022 8:23 AM

You could resign yourself to burning to death.

by Anonymousreply 154December 14, 2022 9:46 AM

I scraped off all the ugly white caulk the handyman used to seal my new bathtub fixtures. I’ll redo it with clear caulk which will look much better against the tiles.

by Anonymousreply 155December 14, 2022 3:09 PM

r153, try changing the battery. If it's a combo smoke/carbon monoxide detector and it still goes off with a new battery, call the fire department, get out of the house and take any pets out with you. It could be carbon monoxide. Sorry to overwhelm. Even the battery change is whelming but it could save your life.

by Anonymousreply 156December 14, 2022 3:38 PM

It’s supposed to be a ten-year disposable one. You can’t replace the battery—you just replace the detector. I’ve already replaced the first after 2 years. This one lasted three. I have networked smoke detectors in the hallways which did not go off, so I was pretty confident there was no fire.

by Anonymousreply 157December 14, 2022 3:44 PM

Your pet’s silent but deadly gaseous emissions?

by Anonymousreply 158December 14, 2022 3:50 PM

by Anonymousreply 159December 14, 2022 4:02 PM

I just spoke with a friend-ish who says he hasn't been out of the house in five days and hasn't showered or washed his face but has brushed his teeth. If you're at the sink brushing your teeth, why not just wash your face too? This does not compute for me.

by Anonymousreply 160December 14, 2022 5:54 PM

^Way too messy. I know exactly what he means.

I cut my finger today whilst using a new SHARP knife while making my salads for the week.

by Anonymousreply 165December 15, 2022 1:21 AM

Making salads for a week? Isn't the lettuce somewhat wilted by Friday?

by Anonymousreply 166December 15, 2022 1:23 AM

R166- The salads I make today I won't finish until Monday. The salad I eat on Monday is always still perfectly good to eat.

by Anonymousreply 167December 15, 2022 1:25 AM

What sort of lettuce(s) do you use, r167?

by Anonymousreply 168December 15, 2022 1:35 AM

R168- Green leaf or Red Leaf - it depend which looks better that week.

by Anonymousreply 169December 15, 2022 2:06 AM

I caved and ordered Greek food from Door Dash. I wasn’t even that hungry and we all know how pricey that service can be. I think Im just lonely and experiencing general frustration. I had a few bites and put it in the fridge.

by Anonymousreply 170December 15, 2022 2:28 AM

Aww, sorry R170. I know how that feels. I love Greek food, though. What did you get?

by Anonymousreply 171December 15, 2022 2:31 AM

I'm erect 🍆 right now.

by Anonymousreply 172December 15, 2022 5:27 AM

I'm wondering how bad this tooth is going to have to get before I try to do something about it.

by Anonymousreply 176December 15, 2022 1:12 PM

I found the correct product to remove the rust stains from my shower stall’s grout. It is Bar Keeper’s Friend spray with a scrub brush. Just a quick scrub. Rust melts away without affecting the color of the grout.

by Anonymousreply 177December 15, 2022 1:16 PM

My partner bought a pork butt roast for Christmas.

I don't think so. Even though I did find a nice Estonian recipe for it.

Honest. I'm too lazy to lie.

by Anonymousreply 178December 15, 2022 1:38 PM

I'm headed to The Fresh Market. I read they were voted one of the worst places to work. Maybe that's why they place music in the store, to drown out the employees' sobs.

I had a good scrubbing last night by MY Scrub Daddy last night.

Afterwards, we did the dishes.

I put one teaspoon of Trader Joe's Organic Free Trade Cacao Powder in my bowl of Organic Sprouted Oatmeal this morning and now my breathing has changed. This never occurred before I started putting the Cacao powder in my Oatmeal on Monday. I wonder if I might be allergic or have an intolerance to the Cacao powder.

by Anonymousreply 181December 15, 2022 3:42 PM

yeh R176. I've got one throbbing (so to speak) and it needs extracting but my dental insurance year starts Jan 1 so I'm NSAIDing myself until then.

by Anonymousreply 182December 15, 2022 10:35 PM

^Re dental insurance and the bad tooth, aren't they going to say, "Unh-uh, sucker, this tooth has been bad for months and there is no way it's going to be covered by your insurance policy!" Just curious about that, for personal reasons.

by Anonymousreply 183December 15, 2022 10:40 PM

R183 no, it's an annual pot of money through my workplace and you use it until it runs out. it only depends on when you file. if your dentist did something and it's not cosmetic, they'll pay.

by Anonymousreply 186December 15, 2022 11:33 PM

I work from home , and hook up on Grindr alot despite my advancing years . I am trying to come up with a algorithm to predict the best day next week for hook ups so I can preschedule myself for " conference calls " , take my cialis at the optimal interval and maintain some sense of discretion with he comings and goings to my house

by Anonymousreply 187December 16, 2022 1:27 AM

R187- To what year have you advanced to?

by Anonymousreply 188December 16, 2022 1:31 AM

I was in a supermarket today and a song came on by a band I don't know and instead of using musical instruments it sounded like they used jack hammers. It was just awful.

by Anonymousreply 189December 16, 2022 1:37 AM

Swackhammer

by Anonymousreply 190December 16, 2022 1:40 AM

I bought the Dawn (dish soap) in the EZ-Squeeze bottle. I actually like how it works. (Bottle is stored upside-down, no cap.)

by Anonymousreply 200December 16, 2022 8:05 PM

I frequently see a Kroger grocery delivery truck in my neighborhood. Which is odd since there are no Kroger supermarkets in this state.

by Anonymousreply 201December 16, 2022 8:49 PM

Kroger operates under many brand names.

[quote]I bought the Dawn (dish soap) in the EZ-Squeeze bottle. I actually like how it works. (Bottle is stored upside-down, no cap.)

Must everything change? I find the old bottle perfectly EZ to squeeze.

by Anonymousreply 203December 16, 2022 9:04 PM

I'm Canadian, so EZ doesn't work here.

by Anonymousreply 204December 16, 2022 9:35 PM

You just add a little water to the bottle when it gets down to the bottom and the stuff is so slow it won't come out of the bottle. That solves the problem. All liquid soap products are nearly all water anyway.

by Anonymousreply 205December 16, 2022 9:36 PM

I do that too, R205.

by Anonymousreply 206December 16, 2022 9:38 PM

It’s also about not having to invert the bottle each time. Further, it’s easier to regulate the amount that squeezes out. With the old bottle, too much was coming out. I don’t have a dishwasher and I wash a lot of dishes.

In Canada, I guess they’d have to call it “E-Zee Squeeze.”

by Anonymousreply 207December 16, 2022 10:15 PM

We had our staff holiday party tonight at a local restaurant. We had a pretty good buffet, made some small talk, and tried not to say anything stupid to the boss(es). Some people did shots. I had two glasses of wine. There was a Yankee Swap. I came home.

I threw snowballs to my dog today and she caught them in her mouth. She loves that.

R217- I went to a dentist in 2017 who told me I would need crowns one day. I said to him- Will that make me a KING 🤴?

He said - NO, it will make you a QUEEN 👸!

I laughed but he was married with kids and he had a bit of a gay accent himself.

A friend’s mom (big hair, lit cigarette, cordless phone always attached to ear) had very old and very valuable commemorative bells WORTH MORE THAN OUR LIVES that she kept in a safe beneath shelf upon shelf of lesser bells. For the last hour or so, I have been posting photographs of famous people that I am distantly related to. I am sure people think I am nuts, but it keeps my mind off the flying adventure this Tuesday.

by Anonymousreply 259December 21, 2022 2:20 PM

The flavored LaCroix's give me unbearable, almost existential, heartburn. I don't know why it could be. I don't have a sensitive stomach, have eaten things that others have sworn gave them food poisoning, with total impunity, but LaCroix Tangerine and Raspberry both make me feel horrible for hours. I'm leery of what the flavoring agents must be...

I put the recycling out last night, but in the morning I realized I put out paper and they were collecting cans and bottles! My recycling bin for those was already full, so keeping them another two weeks would be a disaster. So I bolted out of bed at 7:30, confusing the cat who was waiting for breakfast, threw on some clothes and made the switch. Tried to explain to the cat that it wasn’t time for breakfast. It was a good thing I hauled my ass out of bed when I did, since the recycling crew came very early this week while I was recovering from the exertion. The cat got breakfast at her usual time.

We had an electricity outage in my area. Power was out for about 5 hours. My main concern was for the food in my fridge. I had just done some batch cooking & didn't want it to go to waste. I think the food is OK. Luckily, I hadn't opened / closed my fridge for a while before we lost power. When the power went out, I didn't open the fridge.

Realized that my pantry (room-temp foods) is lacking. Nothing to eat, no snacks, whatsoever. I ended up going to the convenience store and getting some crunchy Cheetos and a slice of cheesecake.

by Anonymousreply 262December 21, 2022 5:08 PM

by Anonymousreply 263December 21, 2022 5:13 PM

R263, thanks!

CDC says 4 hours for refrigerator (after that, throw it out, according to CDC). 24 to 48 hours for freezer, depending on how full.

I am not going to throw away anything in my fridge and freezer.

by Anonymousreply 264December 21, 2022 5:18 PM

The weird thing is that, once the power went back on, I couldn't hear my refrigerator / freezer cycling back on, making noise, etc. That was actually a good sign, to me, that things were sufficiently cold in there (jibing with the thermostat).

Lunch is Wild Caught Alaska Sockeye Salmon which I bake in the oven after I've coated it with Extra Virgin Olive oil, and put a mixture of Dijon Mustard mixed with brown sugar on top ( NYT recipe) I squeeze some lemon juice on it and serve- yum. [quote]I'm having a little trouble following the flow of these "I Want to Be Underwhelmed" threads...

R270 I agree. Most of them are overwhelming but still enjoying.

by Anonymousreply 274December 22, 2022 2:16 AM

I just tried on an XXL warm coat I bought at Costco yesterday. I've lost about 52 pounds since May 2021 so I'm NOT XXL myself anymore. The coat was not too big on me. It's just the right size.

by Anonymousreply 275December 22, 2022 2:30 AM

Yay, R275 for losing 52 pounds. Good for you.

by Anonymousreply 276December 22, 2022 2:34 AM

R276- Thank you.

by Anonymousreply 277December 22, 2022 2:35 AM

We can’t help it if some of you are easily overwhelmed.

by Anonymousreply 278December 22, 2022 3:47 AM

My cat likes snowballs the size of a walnut in the shell. He and his sister enjoy rolling them around the yard until they literally fall apart. I really need to teach then how to correctly roll them around the yard to build a clowder of little cat snowmen.

by Anonymousreply 279December 22, 2022 5:29 AM

The pasties I ordered arrived today. I plan to perform wearing them at the NYE party in Maralago coming up.

At the cleaners today, a young lady brought in a Christmas tablecloth. She wanted it hemmed & pressed! The seamstress started on it, and the customer casually mentions her table linen is very delicate, fragile & old…at least twenty years old!

I'm sitting here in northern NJ just waiting for the rain to start. I'm hoping the wind doesn't cause a power outage. May need to check my tablet to make sure I have something downloaded, just in case.

Since Cosmo brought up the topic of power outage, I'll report back on my 5-hour power outage and its effect on my refrigerator and foods. My yogurt (Fage 5%), which normally has a bit of liquid (separation) on top, had more than the usual amount of liquid on top. I ate it anyway (yesterday) and I'm fine.

I also bought more candles to have on hand.

by Anonymousreply 290December 22, 2022 11:40 PM

I just ate three medjool dates. They were so good. Big and juicy and plump.

I heard years ago that dates should be eaten in threes for good luck. Or maybe that's a figment of my imagination, after all this time I don't even know for sure.

by Anonymousreply 291December 23, 2022 7:57 PM

My cat keeps nibbling at the red netting around my 6 in. potted Christmas trees.

by Anonymousreply 292December 23, 2022 9:43 PM

^^He’ll piss on them and use the dirt around them for a litter box.

by Anonymousreply 293December 23, 2022 10:22 PM

R292, it’s a power move. Just remind them that you’re worried they are stupid and will eat plastic and die with bits of non-recyclable fibers sticking out of their butthole. The offensive faux concern should put the beast off track for a moment.

My cute boots arrived.

What the hell did they put in the food?

by Anonymousreply 298December 26, 2022 4:11 AM

Did the hosts put out a salt lick for the guests, R298?

by Anonymousreply 299December 26, 2022 6:54 AM

Yesterday the uninvited arrogant date of one of my Christmas dinner guests went into my fridge and announced he was taking home one of my two jugs of Wawa Peach Iced Tea because he really liked it.

Note to self: Next time you host dinner for SINGLE friends so that won't be alone on a holiday specify "No DATES" as that disqualifies them from attendance at SINGLES ONLY gathering of established friends. Or at the very least, pre-approval and pre-screening of "plus one" is required.

by Anonymousreply 300December 26, 2022 11:39 AM

R300 people really have no manners anymore. Who opens someone's fridge and helps themselves? Oh yeah, ill-mannered, boors, that's who.

by Anonymousreply 365December 31, 2022 5:49 AM

R365- I have the apple and crumb pies individually wrapped in aluminum foil in my freezer- I bought them from some pie people at a farmers market - they are very tasty pies. by Anonymousreply 404January 3, 2023 1:57 PM

Cosmo, R402, how do you make your "cheese toast"?

by Anonymousreply 405January 3, 2023 5:19 PM

R405, it's easy. I slice extra sharp cheddar cheese from the block, put it on a piece of bread, and put the bread and cheese in the toaster oven until the cheese is bubbly on top. You can use any hard cheese you like; I prefer extra sharp cheddar or gruyere. If you want to live a little, put some crispy bacon on top when it comes out of the toaster oven.

by Anonymousreply 406January 3, 2023 5:57 PM

Toasted bread, cheese on top, nuke 30 secs.

by Anonymousreply 407January 3, 2023 6:08 PM

I did see a Vienetta, though. Someone mentioned that on the thread about foods that are no longer available. Was it always made by Good Humor? I don't remember that.

by Anonymousreply 418January 6, 2023 7:35 PM

R417- Go to Stop and Shop instead. They would probably carry that item.

by Anonymousreply 419January 6, 2023 8:10 PM

Thanks, R417. I do have a S&S near me. I don't buy ice cream very often but I remembered that Edy's made a slow churned variety that was lower in calories. I was just shocked not to see any in the freezer section. Guess they had to make room for the oat milk/almond milk/vegan "ice cream" offerings. I used to be able to buy mini containers of Edy's ice cream as well as Haagen Dazs but they stopped selling them years ago.

by Anonymousreply 420January 6, 2023 8:43 PM

R420- I was SHOCKED today. I bought a pint of a new variety of Ben & Jerry's ice cream at Hmart ( Korean Supermarket) . It's not an upscale store and my mouth was agape when I saw the price on the cash register - $8.49 !

by Anonymousreply 421January 6, 2023 9:18 PM

Perhaps my comment does not belong on this thread because I was not underwhelmed I was OVERwhelmed by the price they charged.

Celena Cherry from Honeyz replied to a comment I left on her Instagram. My inner twelve-year-old died and went to heaven.

that should be “ crow gang IS hopping around”.

There were four of the little fuckers inspecting the new truck.

Sorry for my error.

Don't feel too bad about yourself, R475. The British often pair what Americans regard as singular nouns with plural verbs.

by Anonymousreply 563January 28, 2023 9:30 PM

I found it on the PBS app. It’s not even listed as the pilot but as “Special.” Perhaps it was originally produced as a one-off film. The solution to the murder involves crosswords and opera. DCI Thursday is the Gov, but no one else at the station in the beginning of the series is there. Not even Strange. I suppose that’s why 1/1 begins with Bright’s arrival, talking about cleaning house.

I think I might be pregnant, although I can't imagine how.

by Anonymousreply 568January 29, 2023 11:26 PM

Love that ass baby with what little time you share, R568.

by Anonymousreply 569January 29, 2023 11:28 PM

R567 white pepper makes my mouth itch.

by Anonymousreply 570January 29, 2023 11:54 PM

I never knew there was such a thing as white pepper. LSNED.

by Anonymousreply 571January 30, 2023 12:01 AM

Yes, R571. And for some people there is even more they can learn every day than the average person, apparently.

by Anonymousreply 572January 30, 2023 12:10 AM

I already knew about white pepper, but I just learned what LSNED means!

LSNED indeed r571!

It’s “Skeleton Key” for my Sunday 9pm movie. I get to vape nicotine every time Gena Rowlands lights up.

by Anonymousreply 574January 30, 2023 4:05 AM

I loved "The Skeleton Key", what a great film in a very spooky atmosphere.

by Anonymousreply 575January 30, 2023 9:30 PM

^ that is a good scary movie

Kate Hudson before she got fat.

Geena Rowlands before she got...to be 92 years old.

by Anonymousreply 576January 31, 2023 1:05 PM

It's damp and foggy here...a good time to watch a scary movie.

by Anonymousreply 577January 31, 2023 1:06 PM

I've thought that Gena Rowland's role in that movie is kind of a metaphor for gay me...

I'll tell you why...but SPOILER ALERT if you haven't watched it...

(She's always looking for a new, younger, and more attractive body)

Fuck you. I keep the air here in pristine condition!

I’m not going to take out the recycling tonight. I’ll just take out twice as much in two weeks.

I have an ingrown hair on the back of my thigh that is very painful

by Anonymousreply 583February 1, 2023 4:52 AM

My doctor is 94 years old.

by Anonymousreply 584February 1, 2023 12:30 PM

Race to the finish r584?

by Anonymousreply 585February 1, 2023 1:06 PM

In about 18 minutes I shall be taking my 4.2 mile walk. It's only 27 degrees this morning so I better take my gloves and my neck warmer.

by Anonymousreply 586February 1, 2023 1:11 PM

I always laugh a little when r586 posts about his 4.2 mile walk.

by Anonymousreply 587February 1, 2023 1:15 PM

^whelming

Honey on buttered toast this morning with just enough coffee grounds to make a half pot of coffee. It’s percolating now. Will the coffee be weak?

Get PRID salve from any drugstore. If you want to be whelmed, and I mean really whelmed, allow it to get super infected.

by Anonymousreply 591February 1, 2023 4:03 PM

It was cold, so I wore wool socks to stretch some tight boots. I’m hopping in the shower; I can smell my own feets.

by Anonymousreply 592February 2, 2023 2:33 AM

Had to have one of the showers worked on. I can still smell the plumbers. One of the smells I don't like.

by Anonymousreply 593February 2, 2023 2:39 AM

I'm going upstairs in a moment to lift weights- Looking HOT is hard work- I've lost 50 pounds since May 2021 . I was lifting weights when I was a FAT WHORE too but now I'm very careful about what I eat. I'm 57 years old so I don't know who's going to find me hot but I make the effort anyway.

by Anonymousreply 594February 2, 2023 2:49 AM

Is there a new thread?

by Anonymousreply 595February 2, 2023 5:25 AM

See r589

by Anonymousreply 596February 2, 2023 5:27 AM

Thanks, R596.

by Anonymousreply 597February 2, 2023 5:42 AM

R594 is whelming me. I don't come here to be whelmed.

Maybe the new thread will be more serene.

by Anonymousreply 598February 2, 2023 6:39 AM

My cat just gave me a silent meow. Like actually vocalizing it would be too much effort. Kind of the cat equivalent to a head nod humans give instead of saying hi.

by Anonymousreply 599February 2, 2023 1:51 PM

I’m last.
