Even for laughs, depictions of animals who had no idea what they were consuming, and therefore, could not consent to its effects, is wrong.
And yes, I realize it's the humans who are the butt of the joke, but still.

You're going to have a long miserable life, being a humorless scold.

I think the tragedy is Ray Liotta doing this movie.

OP, I watched the trailer. And yes it is funny. I LOL.

I agree, OP.

Woke troll alert!
by Anonymous | reply 13 | December 4, 2022 2:59 PM |
OP The premise of the film is absurd, even though it’s inspired by an actual event. Therefore, the tone of the film should reflect that, being over-the-top, high camp. The trailer suggests this is the comedic style. No animal was abused in the making of this movie since they didn’t actually feed cocaine to a real bear. And the movie doesn’t appear to celebrate animal abuse since it’s clear the movie bear got into the cocaine by accident. You are certainly entitled to your feelings, but perhaps you can adjust your perspective if you consider that people are finding the trailer funny for several reasons and not because they enjoy watching animals suffer.

Mary, I can't imagine going through life this fucking uptight.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | December 4, 2022 3:14 PM |
Agree. OP. I saw the trailer online and I feel like I saw the goddamn thing. A bear eats cocaine and spends the rest of the movie running after people, or popping out from behind a tree, being shot and shot at. Those kind of jokes, over and over.
Every time the bear made an appearance someone in the scene said "We're so fucked!" which is apparently the movie's tag line.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | December 4, 2022 3:25 PM |
"Get in line" is the trailer's tag line at its final image.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | December 4, 2022 3:28 PM |
I blame the Richard Carlsons of this country. They gave us Tucker and they gave us project developers who spend millions delivering this shit.

Watch it again high. You might prefer it that way.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | December 4, 2022 3:42 PM |

"White Lines" under the trailer was a lovely touch.

I was disappointed by the trailer. I assumed it would be a drama.
That was the stupidest movie I’ve ever watched a trailer for!
by Anonymous | reply 36 | December 7, 2022 1:39 AM |
I think it's fucking hilarious, OP. Matter of fact, if it's available for streaming next spring, I'm going to make it the main feature for one of my outdoor movie nights for the neighbors. It's a perfect movie to watch outside.

Directed by Elizabeth Banks.
Yes the one that directed Pitch Perfect and that woke shitbomb Charlie's Angels with Kristen Stewart. If this movie is funny All Is forgiven.
She did look like Lady Gaga in the 2017 Power Rangers reboot

Which in fairness I didn’t watch.

It’s not. My partner and I went to see it today. I was very ready for a laugh. I never actually laughed through the whole movie. I smirked a few times. The audience never once laughed.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | February 25, 2023 12:22 AM |
Sadly a true story… the bear died of multi-organ failure. Rather horrible way to die
by Anonymous | reply 55 | February 25, 2023 12:41 AM |
I laughed a few times. It was an ok movie, not great but not terrible. It was too gory for me though. I got sick from seeing all the blood and the bodyparts ripped apart. The bear in itself wasn't done well either, it was clearly CGI.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | February 26, 2023 5:52 AM |
A bunch of great character actors in this film (Save for the late Ray Liotta)
Margo Martindale
Keri Russel
O'Shea Jackson (Ice Cube's Son)
Alden Ehrenreich (Solo didn't exactly work out)
And an unrecognizable Jesse Tyler Ferguson.
Even the kid actors are great
Great 80s soundtrack too
by Anonymous | reply 58 | March 2, 2023 7:14 PM |
The trailer isn't funny to me.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | March 3, 2023 5:24 PM |
R44 The key word is “inspired”. You have to separate fact from fiction. Drugs fell from a plane in 1985 and a bear unfortunately got into some of it and died - there was no rampage or killing of people.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | March 3, 2023 5:46 PM |
This movie is such a massive piece of shit, I hope it kills Elizabeth Banks' directing career, but for some unfathomable reason, it was a hit, so she'll go on to badly direct other films. With this movie, she may very well have taken the mantle of worst female director ever, a title for which there is a LOT of competition.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | March 19, 2023 3:01 PM |
OP, what more can we expect from Hollywood? These are the same people who gave us "Snakes on a Plane." Do you realize how dangerous a plane is for snakes? They're meant to slither around in underbrush, hunting insects and rodents -- not suffer terror on a plane! They could get into a vent and be crushed, or be stomped on by a mean human! And Samuel L Jackson on a tear is about the meanest human there is!
Of course I wrote to my Congressperson about this animal abuse. But no one really cares, OP, not like you and I do.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | March 19, 2023 4:10 PM |
It’s a huge box office hit, and has received quite good critical reviews. There will be a sequel
by Anonymous | reply 63 | March 19, 2023 4:18 PM |
I agree with OP completely, it's horrific they made this movie about animal abuse. Shows how degenerate Hollywood has become.
