Winter reading for 2022-23
Now that it's December we're moving into full winter reading mode, so I thought I'd start a new thread (especially since it takes for a while for the last one to load since it's quite long and has been going on for months).
What are you reading over the holidays? is there anything you particularly want to be given for Christmas?
I just purchased Elif Batuman's "The Idiot," which was all the rage about three-four years ago (I'm always slightly behind with reading the biggest new releases), and I very much want to read "The Whalebone Theatre" by Joanna Quinn (even if it was recommended by Jenna Bush Hager and Queen Camilla jointly for their reading clubs) because I love big epic stories set against WW2.

The third volume of Shaun Bythell's very funny bookshop diary, Remainders of the Day, is up first.

She has a new book out, maybe you should just start with that

This has been discussed before on previous threads, but if it's not already in your library, get "A Christmas Carol" read by Tim Curry. It will help put you in the holiday spirit

Anyone got recs for experimental prose novels by underrated or non-famous writers, new or old? Think Woolf or Pynchonesque.
