Is she still happy and peppy and bursting with love?

by Anonymousreply 1December 3, 2022 8:03 PM

Loved her on The Gong Show.

by Anonymousreply 2December 3, 2022 10:04 PM

Legend.

Her 1976 disco album is loads of fun.

With her bros...

I’m over 70, and I have no reason to remember her (even though I do). But then I’m straight.

by Anonymousreply 6December 3, 2022 10:38 PM

I love her voice.

Did she taste Don Grady’s ball sac?

I get her confused with Ruta Lee. Has beens who had a second life on game shows. I think they both did dinner theater.

by Anonymousreply 9December 4, 2022 3:36 AM

R4 I love that album so much. I know almost none of her early stuff and only vaguely her time on the Gong Show, but that album is the DEAL!

by Anonymousreply 10December 4, 2022 3:40 AM

And I always confuse her with Jane Morgan, who's still around at 98.

by Anonymousreply 11December 4, 2022 3:44 AM

Yes, marking 98 years of keeping my tits inside a blouse.

That’s a distinction between us that should help.

As a 70s gayling who mostly knew her from THE GONG SHOW, I always found her interesting.

I got quasi-soft-butch lesbian vibes from her, but she was always frank and enthusiastic about heterosexuality. Anyone know anything about her personal life?

by Anonymousreply 14December 4, 2022 4:24 AM

I always find it suspicious when Wiki omits their personal life.

I thought I read here that she's a Carefree Bisexual®.

JPM is one of those women who always seemed to look 40-something. She looked that way at 25 and then into her 60s and 70s.

Consequently, I think she looked her best in her actual 40s. Never a classic beauty, but she had personality and sex appeal. She looks so much better here than in the clips upthread. She made a lousy platinum blonde: that color just makes her look plainer and paler and frigid.

Her '70s look sort of reminds me of MILF porn star Gloria Leonard.

R14 as a teen I was puzzled by that Jane Fonda look she took on in the 70s. Also I was confused by her name - was it a goof on the banker?

by Anonymousreply 19December 4, 2022 4:44 AM

per Wiki:

Born Mary Margaret Morgan. In the late 1940s, at Verdugo Hills High School in the Tujunga neighborhood of Los Angeles, she served as class treasurer (and got the nickname "Jaye P." after the banker J. P. Morgan) and sang at school assemblies, accompanied by her brother on guitar.

She seemed to become whatever she needed to be for the times. The wonderful album at R4 is one of David Foster's first productions and has the gem "Closet Man".

Jaye P and friend.

She made some dubious fashion choices, even for the 70s.

She's serving Jane Fonda KLUTE meets West Coast lesbo vibes here. With a dash of Billie Jean King.

She did a fantastic cover of Earth, Wind & Fire's "Can't Hide Love." It was produced by David Foster, one of his earliest producer gigs.

Loved her on the Gong Show. I vividly recall watching with my grandma and she whipped her tits out. My grandmother would then always say “I can’t stand that slut”. I of course loved it !

Gotta hand it to Jaye P., has any 1950s pop singer transitioned so authentically to new styles as well as she did?

by Anonymousreply 26December 6, 2022 1:10 AM

She vo-dee-o-dodo-ed with Kaye Ballard.

by Anonymousreply 27December 6, 2022 1:18 AM

She's a lesbian, I just know it.
