Fashion Police: Biden State Dinner for Macron
by Anonymous | reply 157 | December 4, 2022 5:54 PM |
Brigitte looks just awful from the front! Her back view is pretty good, especially considering her age.
Jill looks good with that neckline.
Why did so many guests bring their children or parents instead of their spouses? And why were some of those celeb guests there? Why does Anna Wintour get invited everywhere?
by Anonymous | reply 1 | December 2, 2022 1:47 AM |
The President should not have invited his children as guests, he is such a soft touch for letting all of those kids and grandkids grift off him. Not a fan of a single dress shown, but Dr. B’s hair looks great.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | December 2, 2022 1:48 AM |
The woman there with Susan Collins is the closest I see to chic. Anna looks like a parody. The Garner child is dressed like the mother of the groom at a wedding.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | December 2, 2022 1:49 AM |
Did Justin make a trip down to DC for a hookup? Maybe while Jill and Brigitte are admiring the WH Christmas decor, Macron and Justin can fuck in a corner somewhere.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | December 2, 2022 1:50 AM |
I wonder if they'll swap partners tonight in the Lincoln Bedroom?
by Anonymous | reply 5 | December 2, 2022 2:25 AM |
John and Chrissy are there as Cater Waiters.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | December 2, 2022 2:26 AM |
r2 = Ivanka
by Anonymous | reply 7 | December 2, 2022 2:27 AM |
Ivanka was similarly a useless grifter! That doesn’t make it good when Biden does it, even though to me it seems less menacing and more that he’s a softie. But why on earth should Hunter and Ashley be there? Why is his grown granddaughter who works as a lawyer living in the White House? These kids will never achieve anything this way.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | December 2, 2022 2:29 AM |
I'm pleased so many women wore sleeves.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | December 2, 2022 8:15 AM |
Chastity really can't get rid of her baby fat, as now she looks twice the size of our dear Pete.
Semaglutide, Chas.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | December 2, 2022 8:32 AM |
Why wasn't the Duchess of Overseas invited, when some c-list celeb like Jennifer Garner was? Bonkers!
by Anonymous | reply 11 | December 2, 2022 8:44 AM |
Why weren't William and Kate invited?
by Anonymous | reply 12 | December 2, 2022 9:37 AM |
I think they look nice. I like the photo of the 4 of them too. Jill Biden's gown is beautiful. I'd love to be at that dinner. The dining hall is beautifully lit. I've never had anything on the dinner menu, but I'd love to!
by Anonymous | reply 13 | December 2, 2022 9:46 AM |
McCarthy looks as old as his mom, and they both look crazy. She looks like a wild-eyed far-right nutjob and he looks slightly special. I laughed out loud when I saw their photo before I even realized who it was.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | December 2, 2022 10:04 AM |
Brigitte was never beautiful, and with age her big head in her emaciated body will look worse. But she’s dressed nicely.
Does Anna Wintour removes her glasses at dinner?
by Anonymous | reply 18 | December 2, 2022 10:05 AM |
The photos from this event are how I found out Chrissy Teigen is pregnant again. Yikes. Gross.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | December 2, 2022 10:06 AM |
Anna Wintour looks ridiculous.

[quote]Why weren't William and Kate invited?
The visiting British Royals weren't invited because this is an official state dinner for the French President and people. Not for the British.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | December 2, 2022 10:14 AM |
McCarthy is 57 so his mother must be pushing 80 if not over 80 -- she looks damn good and they do look the same age.
The ridiculousness of it all aside, how does Anna Wintour see in those sunglasses in a not very bright room?
by Anonymous | reply 29 | December 2, 2022 10:19 AM |
Aaaww sweet Charles holding hands with Mommy
by Anonymous | reply 31 | December 2, 2022 10:22 AM |
Everybody actually looks good. Kevin McCarthy’s mother looks amazing. Does he have a wife? So many came without their spouses.. Very elegant night and nobody looks vulgar which is a nice change.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | December 2, 2022 10:49 AM |
I like the idea of normalizing that you don't need to bring your spouse. Is it set up with small tables? Is this new? It looks like a corporate or big university "holiday" which is fine. That's what people, especially these people, do. I wonder if this whole thing is viewed as elitist by Americans dealing with inflation etc.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | December 2, 2022 10:54 AM |
Bozzi looks like the crypt keeper.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | December 2, 2022 10:54 AM |
Did Julia LD bring her son there to seek out potential matches amongst the elite guests?
by Anonymous | reply 36 | December 2, 2022 11:14 AM |
What a clown show! Can someone please explain to me why my tax dollars are going to help Chrissy Teigen shove her fat cunt face with steak and caviar??? Did the government already solve poverty and homelessness?

Why is McCarthy there?

by Anonymous | reply 39 | December 2, 2022 11:26 AM |
R38 McCarthy is the incoming Speaker. He’s going to be a powerful person and Biden cannot afford to unduly insult him. This is a divided government with shared powers. When we get to a centralized state where one party or person controls everything then your question makes sense, you partisan hack.

by Anonymous | reply 61 | December 2, 2022 12:56 PM |
Jill Biden has a good figure and great posture for a woman her age. I’m surprised f she can pull of that neckline, but she does.
I wonder if there was some kind of pressure entered to encourage people (especially the celebrities) NOT to bring their partners of the week and that’s why there are so many friends and offspring in attendance. I’m assuming they don’t have permanent partners, because I can’t imagine a partner passing on this event.

Who is that with Tim Cook. I am sure she is a nice lady but Tim should have gone all out with his escort and had sone drop dead model, male or female.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | December 2, 2022 1:23 PM |
R60, Especially since spouses are never seated at the same table, so Hunter would be vulnerable.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | December 2, 2022 2:15 PM |
Is it surprising that they invited so many Hollywood executives at the expense of other industries? (Auto, finance, insurance, real estate, travel and tourism)?
Or do they traditionally get invited to these things because they're in a "glamor" business?
From Puck, the list of Hollywood or Hollywood adjacent was pretty long:
Jon Batiste, Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, Stephen Colbert, Tim Cook, Jen Garner (with daughter Violet), Jeffrey Katzenberg, John Legend and Chrissy Teigen, Julia Louis-Dreyfus (with son Charlie), Bryan Lourd and Bruce Bozzi, Ariana DeBose and Funny or Die owner Henry Muñoz, Alexandra Pelosi (with mom Nancy), Laurene Powell Jobs, Charlie Rivkin, Robin Roberts, Ted Sarandos, Jeff Shell, Dana Walden, Anna Wintour, David Zaslav, and Florian Zeller.
by Anonymous | reply 65 | December 2, 2022 2:20 PM |
There's a picture of Jon Batiste performing at the function, so that explains his invitation.

Why no Salma Hayek and François-Henri Pinault? Salma is Mexican and American citizen and I would be surprised if she isn't secretly French as well.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | December 2, 2022 2:40 PM |
Bradley Cooper, Jodie Foster and Brooke Shields could have been invited and made witty toasts in impeccable French. And what about Mouseboy - who I now call "Blouseboy".

I’m assuming they don’t have permanent partners, because I can’t imagine a partner passing on this event.
Ashley Biden and Susan Collins are both married to men but brought female friends (I’m assuming) instead. But some people on the list did bring their spouses - a lot of the Cabinet officials, it looks like. (Tim Cook’s date is the former head of a government agency.) Maybe some husbands thought it would be more fun for the wife to bring a friend to this sort of event? It does seem odd.
I’ve always wondered if the guests of honor request some of the invitees (or some of the non-invitees). Maybe Macron had particular American celebrities or businesspeople he wanted to meet?
I vote in favor of more state dinners, not fewer. There used to be one a year or more!

The Biden administration is challenged with holding together the ideals of American democracy, it is an awesome task. The Biden administration was denied a peaceful transition of power, something their predecessor received although he had lost the election to Hillary Clinton.
It is a missed opportunity for the Biden administration to not focus on substance abuse and prevention, they can't because they are stretched so thin.
" Just say no", just isn't good enough.

by Anonymous | reply 102 | December 2, 2022 3:57 PM |
The Obamas should not be invited. Like Trump Obama sucks up all the energy in the room. He is very charismatic. The Obamas would distract from Biden and Macron which is where all the attention should be focused.
Biden is not charismatic and I am not a fan but he is better than Trump and he is running a different type of presidency than his two predecessors. I think there are many mistakes being made but on the whole he's decent and doing a mediocre but acceptable job. He needs to be less beholden to the left.
by Anonymous | reply 103 | December 2, 2022 4:03 PM |
R56 It is more important to have a lovely state dinner with our allies. This is called diplomacy for world leaders. It would be embarrassing not to host these events from time to time and Covid prevented more than a few parties. Your attitude that no one gets to spend money or enjoy their successes in life because some people are less fortunate is horseshit. Pure and simple. Maybe you should look at where you money is actually going when you DONATE it to a charity. But you probably don't donate much as you type poor.

by Anonymous | reply 106 | December 2, 2022 4:11 PM |
I’m assuming they held it in a glass tent, instead of the state dining room, because of Covid concerns.
by Anonymous | reply 107 | December 2, 2022 4:29 PM |
They have had many events in tents. This way they can have a reception in the large White House staterooms but have room for the all the staging of the meal itself. The State Dining Room sits under 150. The East Room more.

Anna W. thought: "The Coco Chanel suit is timeless, so I'll go the whole hog and wear it all the way down to the floor."
