Christine McVie is DEAD to me!

What does Stevie have to say?

[quote] What does Stevie have to say?

She had a great coke spoon but couldn’t live forever.

by Anonymousreply 1November 30, 2022 8:37 PM

Wow, wasn't expecting that one. They said a "brief illness". Wonder how the surviving bandmates feel now, since they couldn't get that final reunion together.

I though Buckingham would go first, from that group, given his recent serious health issues.

Here’s what Stevie has to say.

And Stevie is still kicking.

Literally.

by Anonymousreply 4November 30, 2022 9:32 PM

I'm surprised and sad.

by Anonymousreply 5November 30, 2022 10:40 PM

R5 Are you really?

by Anonymousreply 6November 30, 2022 10:45 PM

Stevie is gearing up to make it all about her.

by Anonymousreply 7November 30, 2022 10:49 PM

R7 She made a kind and sweet post on her FB.

by Anonymousreply 8November 30, 2022 10:50 PM

Over and Over from Tusk is a beautiful song. I'm glad it was a brief illness and she didn't suffer for long.

by Anonymousreply 9November 30, 2022 10:53 PM

"I'm getting older, too."

by Anonymousreply 10November 30, 2022 10:54 PM

I am NOT clicking on that Twitter link (for obvious reasons). That said, who exactly is Christine McVie, and why should I be concerned about her death?

by Anonymousreply 11November 30, 2022 10:57 PM

You've heard "Over and Over," r11? From Tusk.

Thanks for the (attempted) save, R12 but, as an awkward and anachronistic teenager, I was listening to Beethoven and Chopin in the '70s .

P.S. I'm still listening to Beethoven and Chopin, but have expanded to Brahms, Ravel, Couperin, Schumann, Bartok, Edith Piaf, and Benny Goodman.

by Anonymousreply 13December 1, 2022 12:19 AM

She was 79 and told the Times in June that she was in "debilitating back pain." Hope she's found some peace--no shade to Stevie, but Christine was always the gem in that band.

by Anonymousreply 14December 1, 2022 12:23 AM

Sing, Sing, Sing is an outstanding song.

by Anonymousreply 15December 1, 2022 12:23 AM

That was for R13.

by Anonymousreply 16December 1, 2022 12:24 AM

THANK YOU for validating me, R15!!

My 1st husband liked to put on Rumours for our nasty time. He usually finished by Go Your Own Way and we would lay there catching our breath while Songbird played. After he died I couldnt listen to those songs for years without crying like a fool. I heard this news today and I put on Songbird cried like a bitch for an hour. It was like saying goodbye to him all over again. Like someone else stated,Stevie may have been the "star" of Fleetwood, but Christine was the real talent. Though I love Stevie, dont get me wrong.

For r13, my favorite piece by Brahms, the clarinet quintet, with handsome Austrian clarinetist Andy Ottensamer.

Start your own thread about Brahms R20 . This thread is about Miss McVie !

^ Oops. Clarinet Trio above.

Here's the Clarinet Quintet, by the Amadeus Quartet with Karl Leister:

Think About Me, from Tusk, is one of my favorite songs.

Did you use a dildo today in lieu of your first husband?

by Anonymousreply 25December 1, 2022 2:08 AM

Love you R19.

by Anonymousreply 26December 1, 2022 2:18 AM

She wrote Brown Eyes about Dennis Wilson when they were a thing.

If you don't have a clue, or care, about rock musicians, then why the fuck are you even in this thread?

I'm always amazed that people who claim they don't know, or care, about certain celebrities and musicians, 'somehow' always end up in their threads, then, inevitably, make some lame comment.

by Anonymousreply 28December 1, 2022 2:48 AM

R28 It knew exactly who she was

by Anonymousreply 29December 1, 2022 2:48 AM

I thought this death would've been more talked about here on the DL.

I didn't care much for artists that were already out before 1980 when I grew up in the 80s.

This was the first time that I heard her voice on the radio =

I don't remember ever reading about tension or jealousy between Christine and Stevie.

by Anonymousreply 32December 1, 2022 3:15 AM

R30, there are three or four other threads about her death and one about why people post threads about breaking news without searching or with the knowledge that there must be existing threads.

by Anonymousreply 33December 1, 2022 3:16 AM

I knew this was going to happen one day.

by Anonymousreply 34December 1, 2022 3:16 AM

R34 Wow, you are smart! Everyone else thought she'd live forever.

by Anonymousreply 35December 1, 2022 3:17 AM

As did she, R34.

by Anonymousreply 36December 1, 2022 3:18 AM

“Disco Duck” and Fleetwood Mac/coming out of my 8 track/Michael Jackson still was black./Those we’re the days!

by Anonymousreply 37December 1, 2022 3:21 AM

Please tell me this is a duplicate thread. Christine deserves more than 38 replies.

by Anonymousreply 38December 1, 2022 5:04 AM

The other thread has 20 replies. Not surprising. McVie, like her ex-husband John, was in the background, not part of the never-ending dramas generated by Stevie, Lindsey and Mick.

by Anonymousreply 39December 1, 2022 5:24 AM

R38, see R33.

by Anonymousreply 40December 1, 2022 5:25 AM

R41 Great contribution

by Anonymousreply 42December 1, 2022 6:38 PM

Was there ever an official cause of death?

by Anonymousreply 43January 22, 2023 10:59 PM

Yeah, her heart stopped beating.
