I saw it when it came out, and fuck, it is so charming. Martin was a lovely actor at this time, and Candy was perfect. Oh geez, crying already. The final scene....and his wife is so hot.

The movie is timeless, but for the obnoxious and totally unnecessary late 80s hip-hop riff they throw in anytime Steve Martin gets his white ass agitated.

It doesn't suit the mood, or the character, or the time. It's nonsense in this movie.
