Best moisturizers 2022

I agree with their best overall moisturizer being Clinique Moisture Surge. I swear by it and keep multiple jars on hand at all times. It’s really unsurpassed.

I may be giving my gayness away, but I have been using Albolene recently, and it helps somewhat. I'm sure these frou frou products would do a better job. I lost my chapstick and I'm too lazy to buy more.

by Anonymousreply 1November 21, 2022 11:37 PM

I swear by Weleda Skin Food, which is a miracle for really dry hands.

by Anonymousreply 2November 21, 2022 11:38 PM

Albolene is famous jack off lube

by Anonymousreply 3November 21, 2022 11:39 PM

R2 I’ve bought several tubes of it over the years but stopped because the results do not satisfy me though I like the ingredients and smell.

by Anonymousreply 4November 21, 2022 11:40 PM

So bold, r6.

R6 revealed herself

by Anonymousreply 8November 21, 2022 11:49 PM

R6 you need to bottle your razor wit and sarcasm then shove it way way up your ass.

by Anonymousreply 9November 21, 2022 11:51 PM

For all over/body or hands and feet, I swear by this one. The TIN is necessary. No tube, no pump types. Only the TIN. It smells terrific, like a classic, buttery floral aldehyde fragrance.

by Anonymousreply 10November 21, 2022 11:53 PM

Weleda Skin Food is excellent stuff R2. I use it occasionally on my forehead area which gets very dry sometimes. Nice smell too.

For moisturizer I have used L'Oreal since my early twenties (Male 53 now). I have tried nearly everything else but keep going back to the brand because it works really well with my skin type. I'm currently using L'Oreal Age Perfect Golden Age day/night. They are both excellent and really suit my skin. I can't use any moisturizer which contains sunscreen because it runs down my forehead and into my eyes - quite painful. L'Oreal is an excellent quality brand/product, well priced and easily available. Nothing super fancy and does the trick. So that's my story.

R6 is obviously projecting. Especially about the fat, poor and bald thing...

by Anonymousreply 11November 21, 2022 11:53 PM

R10 r11 Who cares what you use! This thread is about the 12 best moisturizers in the link. They were chosen for their ingredients and performance by dermatologists and skin care experts.

by Anonymousreply 12November 21, 2022 11:55 PM

R12 stop cunting, I'm not clicking your Apple News link. This is an internet forum, people post opinions. Do try to keep up.

by Anonymousreply 13November 22, 2022 12:00 AM

Fuck you R12/OP Miss Clinique. Your link is the same old tired old shit paid for and lobbied for by the cosmetics industry brands to make that and similar lists of "best products of the year". Or don't you know how those lists and general marketing works?

I've tried 6 of the products on the list and while some of them are very good - L'Oreal is better and I'll always go back to it.

Next time say; Discuss the 12 best moisturizers in my link in your original post and we'll subsequently ignore you then too. OK?

by Anonymousreply 14November 22, 2022 12:10 AM

Like I said upthread I don’t give a shit what you use

by Anonymousreply 15November 22, 2022 12:17 AM

Try a grease fire on your face and get back to us with a review R15. It's the new retinol. Perfect for you.

by Anonymousreply 16November 22, 2022 12:21 AM

^^You do it first because I’m to dumb to know how.

by Anonymousreply 17November 22, 2022 12:22 AM

I like Clinique Moisture Surge 100 hr and Moisture Surge overnight mask. I use the latter on my arms and hands before bed. Moisture Surge spray during long flights.

by Anonymousreply 18November 22, 2022 12:24 AM

Clinique Moisture Surge has a loyal following because it’s proven effective.

by Anonymousreply 19November 22, 2022 12:26 AM

Coconut oil

by Anonymousreply 20November 22, 2022 12:30 AM

I don't use moisturiser unless I'm going out on a particularly cold, windy day or night - I want my skin's moisture to regulate itself and for the exfoliation process to work properly

by Anonymousreply 21November 22, 2022 12:35 AM

^ am I wrong?!

by Anonymousreply 22November 22, 2022 12:36 AM

R20 can't relate. Have cavernous pores but dry skin and a weak occlusive barrier, so can't leave oils on my face (only use them to quickly wipe off makeup/dirt) otherwise I get clogged and come out in blackheads like the surface of the moon. My skin type is the fucking worst.

by Anonymousreply 23November 22, 2022 12:38 AM

I get scaley when I use coconut oil

by Anonymousreply 24November 22, 2022 12:38 AM

Have rosacea which is worsened by winter's cold, so while I use moisturizers, I supplement that with plain, old, solid coconut oil. Bought from the grocery, food aisle, it has natural anti bacterial properties and doesn't clog my pores when used infrequently. It gets rid of the sunburn feel and the redness.

by Anonymousreply 25November 22, 2022 12:41 AM

I’d never buy any sort of higher-end moisturizer off Amazon or Walmart again. Too many counterfeits. Sephora, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Ulta all the way.

I’ve tried almost every moisturizer on the list. Dislike most for a variety of reasons, mostly due to my use of an Rx tretoinin for anti-aging - it dries and flakes skin if you’re not careful. Dr Jart’s Ceramidin is great with tretoinin Doesn’t smell. Doesn’t “pill” up or leave a greasy film - most of the recommendations do one or more of those things. And it’s gentle and non irritating.

by Anonymousreply 26November 22, 2022 12:45 AM

I get scaley from coconut oil, too. About three times a month I exfoliate with soap, water and baking soda added to a wash cloth. Very gentle scrub as not to peel skin. Afterward use witch hazel on cotton balls followed by ice cold water and regular moisturizer.

by Anonymousreply 27November 22, 2022 12:46 AM

^^Nobody cares but thanks anyway.

by Anonymousreply 28November 22, 2022 12:50 AM

Best moisturizers my ass. Tiny, snake oil jars of white shit. One born every minute.

by Anonymousreply 29November 22, 2022 12:55 AM

for exfoliating, aiding the regeneration process, I use Olay's retinol serum nightly followed by the Inkey List vit C serum - both are very affordable, so I don't feel like I'm just flushing money down the toilet, and both last over a month. I apply both on to wet or damp skin, it's a myth that you need to worry about that, and for the inkey C serum I think it's important you do, it's a creamy texture and I suspect water soluble, cleansing the face properly is important too - I skip moisturising most of the time and have had no problems

by Anonymousreply 30November 22, 2022 12:56 AM

Roc night cream causes me to lose sleep. Stings my eyes to the point where I get what looks like pink eye.

by Anonymousreply 31November 22, 2022 12:59 AM

Cerave moisturizer - cheap drug store brand - is all you need. The amount of money spent trying to get people to buy these special moisturizers is ridiculous. As an economist the whole skin care scam is a classic study in marketing - including this post.

by Anonymousreply 32November 22, 2022 12:59 AM

It’s harsh shit r31

by Anonymousreply 33November 22, 2022 1:00 AM

by Anonymousreply 34November 22, 2022 1:01 AM

Cloud Cream, Moisture Surge bullshit.

by Anonymousreply 35November 22, 2022 1:07 AM

[quote]As an economist the whole skin care scam is a classic study in marketing - including this post.

Dangling modifier! Hee hee.

by Anonymousreply 36November 22, 2022 1:07 AM

Do you also use Birch twigs R27?

by Anonymousreply 37November 22, 2022 1:07 AM

I got sucked in and decided to try Augustinus Bader Rich cream. Stupidly expensive but my skin does feel better. Or maybe I just want to believe it does. I can’t even tell.

by Anonymousreply 38November 22, 2022 1:15 AM

R30 one has to take care with vitamin C serums, preferably using a low concentration that is as close to neutral pH as possible. Too acidic or concentrated and it will burn your skin off, no joke.

by Anonymousreply 39November 22, 2022 1:15 AM

No, I haven't. Thank you, 37! The coconut oil has really helped me, but it's good to have more information.

by Anonymousreply 40November 22, 2022 1:16 AM

I got a free sample of the Tatcha moisturizer but I didn't get what all the fuss was about. I like The Ordinary's Marula Oil and their Rosehip Oil.

by Anonymousreply 41November 22, 2022 1:17 AM

by Anonymousreply 43November 22, 2022 1:26 AM

This is my favorite new thread.

by Anonymousreply 44November 22, 2022 2:12 AM

I prefer a gel cream moisturiser. I liked First Aid Beauty's Coconut one but it's on the pricey side. I'm about to try an ice one which i think is a dupe for Sunday Riley's.

by Anonymousreply 45November 22, 2022 7:32 AM

Cerave Moisturizing Cream (face/body)

Armonia Helix Active Body Lotion (face/body)

Medix 5.5 Retinol and Ferulic Acid Treatment (face/body)

Splurge: LaRoche-Posay Substiane Riche (face)

by Anonymousreply 46November 22, 2022 7:45 AM

I prefer layering Olay Retinol two nights in a row then Beauty Glam Hyaluronic serum then Swisse Hyalaronic boost then one night with nothing and start again.

Unless I go to bed drunk in which case all bets are off.

by Anonymousreply 47November 22, 2022 7:59 AM

R47 there is absolutely no logic in that routine.

by Anonymousreply 48November 22, 2022 2:36 PM

Heard on a different thread that showering/bathing without moisturising causes one to stink, because sweat evaporating off the skins' uppermost layers dries and goes rancid otherwise. True?

by Anonymousreply 49November 22, 2022 2:47 PM

Does it take much much more mosturizer to moisturize fat people's flabby skin?

R49 if your sweat is already rancid, nothing will help deodorize it.

[Quote] then Beauty Glam Hyaluronic serum

I like that serum too. Never thought i would see that brand mentioned on DL.

by Anonymousreply 51November 22, 2022 3:24 PM

Does anyone still use cocoa butter? I always rub it into my skin in an upward motion.

by Anonymousreply 52November 22, 2022 3:28 PM

The derm my grandmother sees says once or twice weekly full-body dry-brushing does more than moisturising for keeping skin firm and glowing and healthy. The caveat is you can't do it too much (every day) otherwise you'll cause micro-abrasions in your skin that will get infected. You also can't brush areas of burned or damaged skin, or do it at all if you have eczema/psoriasis/rosacea etc.

by Anonymousreply 53November 22, 2022 3:34 PM

I don't know what any of this means, but it's FORCING me to believe it!

by Anonymousreply 54November 22, 2022 3:37 PM

I am trying Asutra products. In the morning, Vit C serum and Hyaluronic Acid. Evening Retinol 2.5% serum on face, neck and upper chest. Found them online after using a magnesium cream for muscle pain. Not expensive and I see real change in texture of my skin.

Company claims products animal free testing, organic, essential oils and plant based.

R48 a simple Google search will find page upon page of references that disagree with you.

Apart from the getting drunk part.

by Anonymousreply 58November 22, 2022 7:40 PM

R47 using retinol one time a week isn’t doing shit

by Anonymousreply 59November 22, 2022 8:28 PM

by Anonymousreply 60November 22, 2022 8:31 PM

Clinique is not cruelty-free so fuck them.

You can either read nor count, R59. Try again.

And perhaps refrain from using expressions such as “isn’t doing shit” if you want to appear even borderline intelligent.

I get irrationally angry at the sight or mention of Drunk Elephant products. I bought their Vitamin C back when it first came on the market, I think it was $80. Didn't do squat. Timeless for $20 was better. Although I long ago abandoned the vitamin c bandwagon. Actually I've abandoned all pricey skincare. If it's not available at Target, I don't need it with the exception of one or two Kiehls products.

May I submit for consideration this $13 fragrance free little gem available at Target.

by Anonymousreply 80November 23, 2022 10:10 PM

by Anonymousreply 81November 23, 2022 10:26 PM

r39, I just came back to say I have to stop using the inkey C serum on my neck it's all pinky-red and blotchy. I thought the first time it happened it was just my skin getting used to the serum but I think the amount of l-ascorbic acid is too much for the thinner skin on my neck (no problems using it on my face), so yes, be careful!

by Anonymousreply 82November 24, 2022 12:12 PM

I think the name Inkey is dreadful and screams cheap chemicals

Pissed at Abthr & Body Works. They have But 3, get 3 free. Used to be that shower gels and body lotions cost the same, so you could order 3 lotions and get 3 shower gels free. Now they raised lotion price to $1 more than shower gel. you have to buy 3 shower gels to get 3 free shower gels and 3 lotions to get 3 free lotions.

by Anonymousreply 87November 25, 2022 2:15 AM

[Quote] I think the name Inkey is dreadful and screams cheap chemicals

Well it's supposed to be cheaper like The Ordinary brand. I've only used their Oat Cleansing Balm so i can't really say if it's all hype or not.

by Anonymousreply 88November 25, 2022 1:01 PM

Whatever happened to Origins? It was the hot shit for awhile but they don't advertise at all.

by Anonymousreply 89November 25, 2022 4:22 PM

Another Lauder casualty. It’s still available but a shadow of its former self. A bit like Prescriptives - both created by Lauder then slowly gutted. In the 90s and early 00s it was a nice line and I used several of their products.

by Anonymousreply 90November 25, 2022 4:29 PM

R90 for r89. Origins.

by Anonymousreply 96December 5, 2022 9:04 PM

Clinique Moisture Surge

by Anonymousreply 97December 5, 2022 10:09 PM

R96 Regardless of the price, Vanicream is a good moisturizer. Many of the moisturizers in this thread have fragrance and other irritants which promote inflammation (which can contribute to aging of the skin).

by Anonymousreply 98December 6, 2022 1:02 PM

r98 i agree.

clinique moisture surge is fragrance-free as are all clinique products except for colognes.

by Anonymousreply 99December 6, 2022 1:32 PM

Clinique Moisture Boost is very nice, I like the thicker texture in a hyaluronic acid product, and I love Emma Hardie vitamin c boost cream, but it definitely has a fragrance, a beautiful neroli scent. These are the two I use daily, along with tretinoin and sunscreen.

by Anonymousreply 100December 6, 2022 2:39 PM

R100 in keeping with DL tradition, it’s Clinique “Moisture Surge” not “Moisture Boost”.

by Anonymousreply 101December 6, 2022 3:23 PM

The Clinique Moisture Surge overnight mask is great too. I sometimes use it on my hands and arms.

by Anonymousreply 102December 6, 2022 3:24 PM

I have the Drunk Elephant moisturizer.

Lately, maybe due to the winter, I’ve been getting dry flaky skin. It’s like in my T-zone area (forehead to nose), around my nostrils, and under my cheeks. It’s been annoying.

So I use hyaluronic acid and then the Drunk Elephant. It’s been working but it’s not fixing it, just helping it until I wake up and there’s flakes.
