I agree with their best overall moisturizer being Clinique Moisture Surge. I swear by it and keep multiple jars on hand at all times. It’s really unsurpassed.
I may be giving my gayness away, but I have been using Albolene recently, and it helps somewhat. I'm sure these frou frou products would do a better job. I lost my chapstick and I'm too lazy to buy more.

For all over/body or hands and feet, I swear by this one. The TIN is necessary. No tube, no pump types. Only the TIN. It smells terrific, like a classic, buttery floral aldehyde fragrance.

Weleda Skin Food is excellent stuff R2. I use it occasionally on my forehead area which gets very dry sometimes. Nice smell too.
For moisturizer I have used L'Oreal since my early twenties (Male 53 now). I have tried nearly everything else but keep going back to the brand because it works really well with my skin type. I'm currently using L'Oreal Age Perfect Golden Age day/night. They are both excellent and really suit my skin. I can't use any moisturizer which contains sunscreen because it runs down my forehead and into my eyes - quite painful. L'Oreal is an excellent quality brand/product, well priced and easily available. Nothing super fancy and does the trick. So that's my story.
R6 is obviously projecting. Especially about the fat, poor and bald thing...

Fuck you R12/OP Miss Clinique. Your link is the same old tired old shit paid for and lobbied for by the cosmetics industry brands to make that and similar lists of "best products of the year". Or don't you know how those lists and general marketing works?
I've tried 6 of the products on the list and while some of them are very good - L'Oreal is better and I'll always go back to it.

R20 can't relate. Have cavernous pores but dry skin and a weak occlusive barrier, so can't leave oils on my face (only use them to quickly wipe off makeup/dirt) otherwise I get clogged and come out in blackheads like the surface of the moon. My skin type is the fucking worst.

by Anonymous | reply 24 | November 21, 2022 11:38 PM |
Have rosacea which is worsened by winter's cold, so while I use moisturizers, I supplement that with plain, old, solid coconut oil. Bought from the grocery, food aisle, it has natural anti bacterial properties and doesn't clog my pores when used infrequently. It gets rid of the sunburn feel and the redness.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | November 21, 2022 11:41 PM |
I’d never buy any sort of higher-end moisturizer off Amazon or Walmart again. Too many counterfeits. Sephora, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Ulta all the way.
I’ve tried almost every moisturizer on the list. Dislike most for a variety of reasons, mostly due to my use of an Rx tretoinin for anti-aging - it dries and flakes skin if you’re not careful. Dr Jart’s Ceramidin is great with tretoinin Doesn’t smell. Doesn’t “pill” up or leave a greasy film - most of the recommendations do one or more of those things. And it’s gentle and non irritating.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | November 21, 2022 11:45 PM |
I get scaley from coconut oil, too. About three times a month I exfoliate with soap, water and baking soda added to a wash cloth. Very gentle scrub as not to peel skin. Afterward use witch hazel on cotton balls followed by ice cold water and regular moisturizer.

for exfoliating, aiding the regeneration process, I use Olay's retinol serum nightly followed by the Inkey List vit C serum - both are very affordable, so I don't feel like I'm just flushing money down the toilet, and both last over a month. I apply both on to wet or damp skin, it's a myth that you need to worry about that, and for the inkey C serum I think it's important you do, it's a creamy texture and I suspect water soluble, cleansing the face properly is important too - I skip moisturising most of the time and have had no problems

The derm my grandmother sees says once or twice weekly full-body dry-brushing does more than moisturising for keeping skin firm and glowing and healthy. The caveat is you can't do it too much (every day) otherwise you'll cause micro-abrasions in your skin that will get infected. You also can't brush areas of burned or damaged skin, or do it at all if you have eczema/psoriasis/rosacea etc.

I get irrationally angry at the sight or mention of Drunk Elephant products. I bought their Vitamin C back when it first came on the market, I think it was $80. Didn't do squat. Timeless for $20 was better. Although I long ago abandoned the vitamin c bandwagon. Actually I've abandoned all pricey skincare. If it's not available at Target, I don't need it with the exception of one or two Kiehls products.
May I submit for consideration this $13 fragrance free little gem available at Target.
