Somebody told me Taco Bell isn't REAL Mexican food

That people in Mexico don't traditionally eat things like chalupas.

This is a lie, right?

by Anonymousreply 64November 25, 2022 1:15 AM

what do you mean not REAL? it's food and people in Mexico eat it.

by Anonymousreply 1November 21, 2022 9:37 PM

It isn't real food, period.

by Anonymousreply 2November 21, 2022 9:37 PM

🔕 🔔 I don't care what Taco Bell uses, I'm still eating it.

by Anonymousreply 3November 21, 2022 9:40 PM

It’s as authentic as Ricky Martin

by Anonymousreply 4November 21, 2022 9:42 PM

r2

Yeah it does. You need to get out more. The hamburger you get at McDonalds doesn't look as misshapen as the one you cook at home, but it's still a hamburger.

Stop trying to start an argument where none exist.

by Anonymousreply 5November 21, 2022 9:42 PM

It's shortcut Mexican for people who like short, cut Mexicans.

by Anonymousreply 6November 21, 2022 9:44 PM

The OP also thinks Panda Express is authentic Chinese food.

by Anonymousreply 7November 21, 2022 10:02 PM

[quote]Yeah it does. You need to get out more. The hamburger you get at McDonalds doesn't look as misshapen as the one you cook at home, but it's still a hamburger. Stop trying to start an argument where none exist.

Bitch, I eat real Mexican food made by actual Mexicans almost every day. None of my friends' food looks like that shit at Taco Bell, beyond being the same general shape.

by Anonymousreply 8November 21, 2022 11:39 PM

They're far too overpriced now and chintzy with their ingredients.

by Anonymousreply 9November 21, 2022 11:42 PM

Does Taco Bell have a SINGLE item on its menu that has cilantro in it?

by Anonymousreply 10November 21, 2022 11:54 PM

OP just curious what makes you so desperate for attention?

by Anonymousreply 11November 21, 2022 11:57 PM

R8 I wonder why you feel the need to make up stuff? Sweetheart, you don't "...eat real Mexican food made by actual Mexicans almost every day."

You might from time to time, but most certainly not "almost every day." Be blessed, dear.

by Anonymousreply 12November 21, 2022 11:58 PM

I wouldn't dwell on this. It all comes out the same.

by Anonymousreply 13November 22, 2022 12:01 AM

R12, how are you so certain that he/she doesn’t? WTF

by Anonymousreply 14November 22, 2022 12:02 AM

Oh R10 you tried so hard

by Anonymousreply 15November 22, 2022 12:03 AM

That is a LIE!!!!

by Anonymousreply 16November 22, 2022 12:08 AM

Taco Bell has restaurants in Mexico. Mexicans consider it American food with some Mexican influences.

by Anonymousreply 17November 22, 2022 12:08 AM

LIES!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 19November 22, 2022 12:11 AM

You will *not* find enchitacoritos south of the border, OP.

by Anonymousreply 20November 22, 2022 12:13 AM

Troll on, OP.

by Anonymousreply 21November 22, 2022 12:13 AM

[quote] Oh [R10] you tried so hard

To do what exactly?

by Anonymousreply 22November 22, 2022 12:13 AM

R20 You won't find them anywhere, since it's a made up word, moron.

by Anonymousreply 23November 22, 2022 12:14 AM

It isn't.

It's a weird mix of Tex-Mex.

If you like it? Then eat it, you fat whore! No one should care what someone else thinks.

by Anonymousreply 24November 22, 2022 12:14 AM

OP it's Americanized versions of Mexican food. Just like Chinese restaurants are Americanized versions of Chinese food. Trust me, most Americans would never eat a lot of the traditional foods made in Mexico and China. They waste little to nothing of the animals they cook in those countries.

by Anonymousreply 25November 22, 2022 12:15 AM

R25 It knew that already - it's just a bored troll.

by Anonymousreply 26November 22, 2022 12:16 AM

Taco Bell is recommended by the American Medical Association as a diuretic for help with bowel movements.

by Anonymousreply 27November 22, 2022 12:19 AM

Taco Bell tried opening “restaurants” in Mexico

They failed miserably.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 28November 22, 2022 12:19 AM

R27 honey, a diuretic pertains to urine, not poop.

by Anonymousreply 29November 22, 2022 12:25 AM

Some of you must be so impoverished if you can't even have your Rosario cook you some authentic Mexican food daily!

by Anonymousreply 30November 22, 2022 12:26 AM

It's half right. I'm a Texan and I can confirm that Mexicans don't eat tacos, but they do eat bells.

by Anonymousreply 31November 22, 2022 12:27 AM

Nah, I am white - but I am from Texas, so I take Mexican food, Mexican friends, and my Mexican dicks very seriously. Taco Bell got so expensive lately (and I am sorry, the food used to be WAY more flavorful back in the 90s), why not just get good quality street tacos instead? Taco Bell literally tastes like PLASTIC. No flavor. Used to be pretty decent for fast food - goddamn, their chicken soft tacos back in the day had lime, cilantro, perfectly moist, dripping...fuck, I'm getting a food boner. At least at a real taco vendor, you can get Mexican Coke or Jarritos instead of that nasty-ass Mountain Dew Baja Blast or what the fuck ever it is. Sheeeyit... (Although those Cinnabun thingies with the vanilla frosting inside are kinda the bomb, ngl, haha)

by Anonymousreply 32November 22, 2022 12:27 AM

R32 "and I am sorry,"

Ok, why are you sorry?

by Anonymousreply 33November 22, 2022 12:29 AM

Of course it isn't Mexican food OP. It's a heavily westernized version of Mexican food engineered for consumption by the western market.

by Anonymousreply 34November 22, 2022 12:29 AM

I haven't set foot in a TB in at least 10 years. Do they still use a caulking gun to squirt the sour cream on stuff? I was always fascinated by that.

by Anonymousreply 35November 22, 2022 12:32 AM

Taco Bell gives people the "runs."

by Anonymousreply 36November 22, 2022 12:34 AM

Yo Quiero Salmonella

by Anonymousreply 37November 22, 2022 12:35 AM

In the Mexican fast food war, Del Taco > Taco Bell

by Anonymousreply 38November 22, 2022 12:39 AM

Disgusting slop. It’s terrible they’re even in business.

by Anonymousreply 39November 22, 2022 12:39 AM

Why doesn't Taco Bell offer mole sauce?

I mean they can package them, as they package the hot sauce

Yet they don't offer mole sauce. Why?

by Anonymousreply 40November 22, 2022 12:48 AM

Salmonella is a thing at Taco Bell now? Since when?

by Anonymousreply 41November 22, 2022 12:53 AM

I got the Enchirito this weekend. It wasn't the same recipe from before and they didn't put olives on it. I tried to get the Mexican Pizza too but they were out,.

by Anonymousreply 42November 22, 2022 2:23 AM

I had a Mexican pizza this week! With guac.

by Anonymousreply 43November 22, 2022 3:23 AM

I had tacos from Taco Bell two nights ago and it really seemed like the shell was much thinner.

by Anonymousreply 44November 22, 2022 3:27 AM

Taco Bell = vile!

by Anonymousreply 45November 22, 2022 3:33 AM

[quote]It’s as authentic as Ricky Martin

Ricky Martin isn't Mexican, he's Puerto Rican.

Do you think all Hispanic people are the same?! Stop trolling.

by Anonymousreply 46November 22, 2022 3:36 AM

And Serious Eats says BS about Mexican coke, and free range eggs and NY pizza. Same as msg, people are idiots.

by Anonymousreply 47November 22, 2022 3:39 AM

I eat real Mexican food, Taco Bell sure isn't it.

Even their late cute mascot, Gidget, couldn't get me to eat that shit.

[quote]Serious Eats says BS about Mexican coke,

I don't drink much soda but you can definitely taste the difference between Mexican Coca-Cola and US Coke. The US Coke is made with corn syrup, the Mexican Coke is made with real can sugar. Corn syrup makes people crave more corn syrup, it's also worse than sugar.

WTF is Serious Eats? Some blog written by food 'experts'. Your own palate should suffice.

by Anonymousreply 49November 22, 2022 4:10 AM

Taco Bell is definitely not real Mexican food.

However, it's pretty decent.

Think of it this way: people eat at McDonald's, Burger King, Sonic, Wendy's etc. You can get a better, more authentic, gourmet burger somewhere else, or even at home. But people still like to eat at these fast food places.

Same goes for Taco Bell. You can get better at a Mexican restaurant, or home made. But people still like Taco Bell or Chipotle.

by Anonymousreply 50November 22, 2022 4:14 AM

If I wanted Mexican food I'd just go to the market and buy an Old El Paso Taco Kit & make my own.

by Anonymousreply 51November 22, 2022 9:35 PM

It's not, but who cares. It's not even Tex Mex... it's some weird CA amalgamation of fast food Tex Mex... and yet i want it a few times a year.

by Anonymousreply 52November 22, 2022 9:45 PM

Taco Bell is to Mexican food what Olive Garden is to EYE-talian food. Most Americans have no idea what good food from any country outside the US tastes like, so what difference does it make?

by Anonymousreply 53November 22, 2022 10:31 PM

Can I get boneless spare ribs in China?

by Anonymousreply 54November 22, 2022 11:14 PM

Oh all ya like to diss me calling me this and that, but who's gonna be there's for you when you need you fix? Me.

I'm good enough to gobble up alone in a car but not in front of your friends.

Ya, that's what I thought.

by Anonymousreply 55November 22, 2022 11:39 PM

^ You need to move the potted plant when you scrub the floor, Chalupa... I'm not mad at you, I'm mad at the dirt 😠

by Anonymousreply 56November 22, 2022 11:45 PM

[quote] Why doesn't Taco Bell offer mole sauce?

I've always been disgusted that Mexicans eat chicken moles. They really do use every part of the animal!

by Anonymousreply 57November 22, 2022 11:52 PM

[quote] Taco Bell is to Mexican food what Olive Garden is to EYE-talian food

You’re too kind

Taco Bell is to Mexican food what Domino’s is to Italian food

by Anonymousreply 58November 22, 2022 11:56 PM

I can’t believe Nacho Supreme is going away - that doesn’t even make sense!

by Anonymousreply 59November 23, 2022 12:44 AM

I occasionally eat a Whopper or a Big Mac - the Whopper still tastes reasonably the same as when I was a teenager in the 80s. The Big Mac is both notably smaller, and blander - but it’s not as taste-free as Taco Bell’s now really awful Burrito Supreme. What was an occasional salty pleasure in the 80s/90s is truly inedible now.

by Anonymousreply 60November 23, 2022 12:57 AM

It’s Tex-Mex which I actually prefer.

by Anonymousreply 61November 23, 2022 1:49 AM

I went to a "real" Mexican restaurant in Phoenix once and can't say I cared for it much. I like the Tex-Mex version better, too.

by Anonymousreply 62November 23, 2022 2:16 AM

[quote]Taco Bell is to Mexican food what Olive Garden is to EYE-talian food. Most Americans have no idea what good food from any country outside the US tastes like, so what difference does it make?

Let me correct that for you, most WASPs have no idea what good food from any country tastes like. Wasps have incredibly bland tastes.

Most Italians, Hispanics, South Asians, the Chinese etc have learned how to cook ethnic foods from their respective countries because most of their older relatives were immigrants. Those receipts were passed down. My elderly aunts are all excellent cooks and bakers, they, in turn, passed those recipes down to their children.

by Anonymousreply 63November 25, 2022 1:01 AM

r30, who are you kidding? We all know you socialites are regulars at Taco Time. Just ask Anastasia Beaverhausen.
