At least seven different vocalisations have been recorded from the red panda, comprising growls, barks, squeals, hoots, bleats, grunts and twitters. Growling, barking, grunting and squealing are produced during fights and aggressive chasing. Hooting is made in response to being approached by another individual. Bleating is associated with scent-marking and sniffing. Males may bleat during mating, while females twitter.[70] During both play fighting and aggressive fighting, individuals curve their backs and tails while slowly moving their heads up and down. They then turn their heads while jaw-clapping, move their heads laterally and lift a forepaw to strike. They stand on their hind legs, raise the forelimbs above the head and then pounce. Two red pandas may "stare" at each other from a distance.

Can't you kill a dog by feeding it grapes?
by Anonymous | reply 16 | November 23, 2022 2:25 AM |
Symptoms of grape toxicity have been reported with ingestion of 0.7 oz/kg of grapes and 0.11 oz/kg that of raisins. An average-sized seedless grape weighs approximately 0.2 ounces. Therefore, the toxic dose of grapes for a 10kg dog would be 7 ounces or 35 grapes. These are not dogs however.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | November 23, 2022 2:30 AM |
Killing dogs is not nice.If you really feel you must though try a hot car or a large blunt object.Probably easier than the 35+ grape method.

The red pandas are so much more hyperactive than the phlegmatic panda pandas

Such dainty eaters. Can anyone explain their curious marking.Their dark undercarriage and foxy red topcoat seems an odd camouflage to me?

This grapes kill dogs things is dubious. I used to walk my dogs in a vineyard and they would raid it, going after any grape the boar had left. Never hurt them.
All members of the raccoon family are adorable. People just hate raccoons because they are a more successful species than we are. AND a lot smarter. I figure when mankind will have destroyed itself, raccoons will become our overlords.
The cutest member of the raccoon family is the ringtail cat. They're much smaller than raccoons, with little fox faces, long weasel bodies and very, very long fluffy tails. They look more like lemurs than raccoons. I sometimes see one on our surveillance camera at night. They're gorgeous.

R33 - maybe so about the grapes. But I read a story about why there is no grape ice cream and it was that someone made some and their dog ate it and immediately died.

I don't mean to rain on your parade but racoons have another side to them. Just BE CAREFUL!

r53 Red pandas live in the mountains, eat bamboo, and avoid people. They are ridiculously cute.
American raccoons live in your attic, eat garbage, and will attack you. They are very large, very dangerous rats.

Red pandas can be easily identified by their unique ruddy coat color, which acts like camouflage within the canopy of fir trees where branches are covered with clumps of reddish-brown moss and white lichens.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | December 10, 2022 10:20 PM |
Why is a red panda's tail so fluffy? It's all about balance. A red panda's long, woolly tail helps to keep it steady as it walks along rock ledges and tree branches. Red pandas don't hibernate through the winter, so their thick fur and bushy tails also provide protection from the cold, wind and other harsh weather.

Raccoons are rated as having the intelligence of monkeys. They're nobody's fool.
by Anonymous | reply 68 | December 11, 2022 8:33 PM |
Stop comparing Red Panda to Racoon. They are not related at all.RP's are an entirely genetically distinct family. You are more closely related to a Marmoset than a Red Panda is to a Racoon. They aren't a frickin' Panda either.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | December 15, 2022 10:49 PM |
Red pandas were first described in 1825 as members of the raccoon family, because they have similar skulls, teeth and ringed tails. Later, DNA analysis suggested that red pandas might belong in the bear family. However, later genetic research placed red pandas in their own family: Ailuridae.

[quote]They aren't a frickin' Panda either.
They were identified by Western scientists under the name "Panda" almost 50 years before the Giant Panda was. The latter are more properly Panda [italic]bears[/italic] while the true Pandas are Red Pandas.

They're pandas, they were scientifically documented as such before the giant panda (actually a bear) was more than a folktale to most people.
