Thelma Todd, who was (possibly) murdered. She was found dead of carbon monoxide poisoning in the garage of actress Jewel Carmen's house under weird circumstances. Jewel Carmen herself was an interesting figure, having been at the center of a scandal when she was 15 years old--she was allegedly shacked up with a 35-year-old, who was prosecuted on statutory rape charges.

R7 yes, but it also states in the article that authorities thought she’d taken it on the beach (not sure how or why they made such a determination). She died three days later, ostensibly in the hospital. Lots of foggy details there.

She and her husband had been married for less than a year, and she was 5 months pregnant when she was killed. Their killer pleaded guilty to avoid the death penalty, and was sentenced to a minimum of 59 years in prison
