What are talking about R15 ? Robert de niro was never a teen idol he was always for adults at least at the beginning of his career. In the 1970s scruffy was in, and there was a need for more "realistic" looking actors and de niro was considered top dog. Even teen idols of the day like Andy Gibb had chest hair.

He wasn't pretty, but he was sexy and had an athletic build. Plus he went full-frontal (along with Gerard Depardieu) in the Italian film "1900" (getting jacked off on camera) and also from a longer distance in "The Deer Hunter".

He is one of the most classically handsome men on the big screen ever. I have a feeling he looks scrawny in real life but I don't care, I'll never meet him. In the meantime, he smoldered in every scene he appeared from the mid 90s and earlier.

He was absolutely gorgeous always to me but I feel he got the best looking around middle age, around the late 80's/early 90's.
