I enjoy Julianne Moore and she looks marvelous at age 61.
Perhaps she just doesn't get offers for interesting, age-appropriate roles. But it's a little off-putting to see her in movies like DEAR EVAN HANSEN, where she's playing a character in her late 30s/early 40s, no matter how youthful she appears. She may wind up like Joan Crawford if she's not careful.
[quote]In 1968, Oscar-winning actress Joan Crawford, at the time over 60 years of age, filled in for her ailing daughter, Christina, who played the role of Joan Borman Kane, a character aged just 24.

On the basis of pulling his life together, keeping in shape and not fucking with his face/overall looks, I would say RDJ.
But his occasionally dressing up as the Easter Bunny may cancel that out.

In the middle-aged group, Frances McDormand, obviously. Blood Simple was a long time ago, but she's kept her face and her range of expression.
Naomi Watts is another. I read one of those articles recently from a woman writer who was so glad to see wrinkles and expression lines on Watts's face in that Netflix series because they're the same age. "I felt like I was seeing myself on the screen, and I never do," etc. I dislike those pieces on principle, but she was right on the facts. If La Watts has had anything done, it's been subtle. She looks just like the Mulholland Drive character, 20 years older.

The OP said 'dignity' not appearance/beauty. Your looks can fade, but you can still have dignity. Dignity is a mindset- the way you hold yourself, the way you dress, the way you talk and what you talk about, and what you keep to yourself. Someone can also look great for their age and lack dignity.

Grace Kelly was not jawly. Her jaws were not saggy, of course they lowered, not more than it is normal for her age and the shape of her face (she always had stronger jaws). Besides, she was rarely beautiful for her age and she looked healthy and radiant. She gained just a little bit weight, which made her look better and had no visible work done. Her face wasn't changed unnaturaly. She was lucky not to be wrinkly type.
She was clever not to insist on being skinny, cause this is what makes most modern female stars look old and warn out, skinny rarely looks good on older women. And having a bit of jawls is much better option than turning into alien with plastic surgeries.
Someone mentioned Daneuve. She did gain weight naturally, but had too much work done on her face.

R73 ummm - not really. I was just pointing out that she wasn’t aging WELL - and it makes sense too, given that she had a massive stroke less than 2 years later - not exactly common for women in their early 50s. So one would think there was at least some connection between her aging appearance and her deteriorating health.
And yes, she did look older than the average woman her age - I wasn’t comparing her to over botoxed or over surgeried people.

R74 I am not sure if she did look older than an average woman her age. In these days it was common for 50 years old women to look matronly. You are applying modern standards when women, at least celebrities and middle class professionals, are expected to look like Barbie doll in their 50s (though average American is more obese than ever).

Jane does look great, but that's a wig at R85. And some of the best cosmetic surgery money can buy. Good for her.
I don't understand why so many people here seem to think "aging with dignity" means looking old, drab, and awful. I mean, Frances McDormand may be dignified, but she is genuinely unpleasant to look at.
