RHONY drama! LuAnn slams Bethenny as "desperate" as Bethenny starts Housewives rewatch podcast

RHONY was probably my favorite of the RH “franchises.” Let’s face it, the very early seasons are the only ones worth watching & rewatching. Alex had a blog (long time ago) that gave her insider’s view on the RH shows. Bethenny is articulate, so it would be interesting to hear what went on behind the scenes.

If I had Bethenny's money I would live a lovely life with my daughter and stay off social media. Her live Instagram story while her dog was having a seizure was a low point. She's the Christy Teigen of the HW franchise.

It’s not the good because Bethany can’t stop talking about herself. I was expecting more behind the scenes insights. But I’ve listened to every episode so it’s not that bad. I drive a lot and listen to a lot of stuff as background noise.

She had Elizabeth Moss on one episode and a Suze Ormon on another. Those are the best so far. The Suze Ormond was quite funny—I didn’t realize Suze has such a good sense of humor.

I stopped watching about a decade ago after an episode where they visited a rural area. Ramona was triggered by the surroundings and had a tearful meltdown recalling her childhood or adolescence. I remember how they teased out that segment and played parts of it with one housewife saying “coming up on The Real Housewives of New York”.

They did the same thing with another housewife who visited a farm where she lost part of her leg in an accident. That super aggressive “teasing” of upcoming footage felt very manipulative. So I stopped watching because it was so repetitive and staged, with corny stretches of “constructed conflict”. I think one episode showed producers crouching in the aisles of The Container Store in midtown nyc essentially goading the housewife shopping there into a messy fight. These programs feel like junk food in media form. You don’t learn anything worth knowing. I also think some of the housewives spend their entire performance fee staging their segments to look more successful and wealthy than they actually are, I know they’re are (were?) popular, but I’d be embarrassed to admit if I still watched these programs.

R15, I think that's about the time I stopped watching, too. And if RHONY's theme was 'childhood trauma', then OC's theme seemed to be about OB/GYN fertility-check visits with stilettos in stirrups.

I forgot how hideous 00s fashion was.

What was with Alex’s dress with the red crotch? Why is Ramona dresserd like a 19 year old? Luann dressed like a 29 year old? Bethenny is simply an unfortunate looking woman dressed like grandma. Jill looks fine but has all the “bohemian, statement” jewellery of the era.

Love or hate Lu but there's no denying she's aged very well. Not fake and plastic looking. If she had work done it's good work.

None of them are likeable, but LuAnn had the best one liners - "Even Louis Vuitton makes mistakes." Alex and Simon were the most entertaining because they were so pretentious and delusional.

Romana hit a producer several seasons back. She was too important to the show for them to do the right thing and fire her, but once the franchise started sagging and she became dispensable…

R19 I remember their really pretentious parenting and their partly renovated brownstone in Brooklyn. I think Jill Tried to help them get their kids into private schools, and maybe get drapes for their apartment, and they weren’t very gracious about it. Jill was awful, but I did enjoy her for a short while, for the way she interacted with Alex and Simon’s kids, and I thought her elderly Mom was sharp. Oh, and I like their Bentley Arnage. That was a handsome vehicle.

Alex and Simon were super pretentious, shopping at some store called Blue & Cream. It looked hard to film in their home, with rooms blocked off and cluttered spaces. They tried to be engaging and interesting, but tried too hard. I did enjoy a scene at the close of the first season, when Ramona danced with Simon. They were pretty cute together. But over time they all turned awful.

I'll always remember how thirsty Simon was and how he cut a song around the same time that LuAnn did.

Loved the one where Simon was trying to horn in on Sonja's gay pride event.

Sonja was having NONE of that!

The new show needs Kelly interacting with Aviva! That would be pure gold!

How was flabby, dumpy Alex a model? Maybe that's what goes for attractive in New York. Certainly wouldn't go over in Paris.

Alex and Simon’s pretentiousness worked because it was so earnest.

They now retrained in psychology and law and live in the Byron Bay hinterlands in NSW. I wonder if they try to socialise with the Hemsworths.

Watching season 1, Alex got a bad edit. She and her husband are very dorky but not terrible people.

Alex made cast for S4 of Ultimate Girls Trip, along with three other noobs: Gretchen Rossi, Camille Grammer Meyer, and Caroline Manzo. Returnees are Victoria Gunvalson, Brandi Glanville, Eva Marcille, and Phaedra Parks.

Alex was pretentious but seems sane unlike most of the women on RH. In real life she’d probably be one of the better ones to know even though she didn’t make for great tv.

That whole trip to Morocco was pure comedy gold.

The 4 or 5 episodes it ran had me nearly pissing myself silly.

LuAnn triggers Bethenny more than any of her other ex-castmates.

I thunk Lu’s drunken narcissistic antics remind B of her crazy mother.

Luann is just as manipulative as Bethenny and Ramona.
