Brands that live up to their hype
Branding is often irrelevant to me but others come to rely on brands that meet their needs and serve them well.
Are there any brands that consistently live up to your expectations? Can be restaurants, resorts, entertainment, computers, food, clothes, whatever.,

I have my favorite non-vintage champagnes that deliver excellent bubbly, year in, year out. Thats the entire point of the premium paid for a brand. It is always the quality one expects and always the house style one likes.
Sports equipment - hiking, camping, skiing. Once you decide you want "high quality" and then choose a brand that is high quality - it's always good. One exception can be hiking boots. There are international mass market brands reported to be high quality but are in fact hit or miss. But if you choose a French, Italian, Swiss or Austrian brand, the boot will be what you expect.

What’s “impeccable calfskin,” R107? And what distinguishes it from calfskin that is not impeccable?
I suspect other manufacturers have now caught up, but Sub-Zero really was in a league of its own for decades. Thru really do keep food fresher and, while they never would have paid for themselves by making groceries last longer, the shallower depth could make an otherwise awkward kitchen work and that could help save money on a reno that would have otherwise required moving walls and even plumbing.
I’ve also been impressed with g-shock and vitamix.

R219 It's just soap and it only cleans (home or self), it has simple and few ingredients and none of them are moisturizing. I do use moisturizer and conditioner on my body/face/hair after using it but honestly I had to use that anyway, even with separate body wash/shampoo/facial cleansers etc. that labeled themselves as "moisturizing". I just wanted to simplify my personal and home cleansing routine to the fewest, simplest products and Dr Bronners does the thing i want it to do: clean, and without a massive list of ingredients I don't want.

Citizen solar watches - I currently have 3 in total, two of which are over 17 years old and still working flawlessly, far beyond their supposed 10 yr lifespan.
Dietz & Watson lunch meats and cheeses - worth every penny.
Victoria marinara sauce - This is by far the best jarred tomato sauce, beating out Rao's IMO as well. The ingredients are dead simple, whole tomatoes in juice, onions, garlic, sea salt, basil and spices. That's it. Tastes essentially identical to when I make home made sauce myself.

R252 -- I make my own dry laundry detergent with laundry bar soap, borax, washing soda, and oxygen bleach. When washing my sheets and towels I use the Dr. Bronner's to impart a faint scent when I dry them.
And BTW, I line dry all my laundry year 'round.

Re Dr Bronner’s… I use the castile soap in various concotions, diluted, and it’s good. I don’t know about other products; I just buy a big bottle and make things with the soap in reusable glass bottles in order to save buying more plastic.
I’ll add a product that’s local to me: John Fluevog shoes! They range from practical to ridiculous/avant garde, but they’re always well-constructed of good materials. They last forever (even the ridiculous ones)!

Omega watches. I have a rose gold Seamaster that my Dad bought in Switzerland in the 1950’s and a stainless steel Speedmaster I got as a graduation present in 1969. Both work perfectly and the Speedmaster is worth more than some new cars. A month after I got mine, the astronauts wore ‘em on the moon.

My Cuisinart food processor went kaput so was checking out different brands and finally splurged on one made by Breville. The adjustable slicer wheel may put my grandmother's mandoline (also adjustable) out of service though.

There's no hype around them, but I think that Lidl and Zara have good products for the price you pay. Lidl has great cheap wine and beer selection. It's ten times better than wine or beer you would get for that price at any other store. Also, all Zara stuff i bought has been great. Especially considering the price.

Thought once as you do, R352.
Then a purchased an expensive Dyson.
What a piece of plastic junk! Even the cord began to erode exposing electrical wiring within 12 months.
Worst vacuum I ever owned.

Same, R359. I bought one after hearing a lot of hype, it was fucked within a year (lost its suction power, nozzle broke). You're also correct that they're made out of shitty plastic parts. I was kind of appalled when taking mine apart to try to sort out the loss of suction and realized how little those bits of plastic must have cost compared to how much I paid for the damn thing.
Not saying others haven't had good experiences, but mine wasn't great and I wouldn't buy another.
