California To Become World's 4th Largest Economy
by Anonymous | reply 88 | October 30, 2022 2:27 PM |
All thanks to reality tv shows.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | October 25, 2022 9:05 PM |
In the world. Wow. Go Cali!
by Anonymous | reply 2 | October 25, 2022 9:11 PM |
Yep. Fuck off Republican scum.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | October 25, 2022 9:13 PM |
I always laugh when people insist people insist that Republicans are good for business or the economy. And yet California is the richest state, not West Virginia, Arkansas, Oklahoma, or Alabama
by Anonymous | reply 4 | October 25, 2022 9:13 PM |
We spit on those brokeass red states!
by Anonymous | reply 5 | October 25, 2022 9:47 PM |
Fake news. Nobody wants to live in California anymore. That's why so many businesses and people are moving out.
They don't want to live in a communistic society.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | October 25, 2022 10:07 PM |
We're glad to see you awful people go, Greg! We love it here.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | October 25, 2022 10:26 PM |
Also the biggest state for agriculture.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | October 25, 2022 10:56 PM |
But all the right wing trolls assured us that California is a disaster. How could it's economy possibly be continuing to grow stronger in the face of their dank memes?
by Anonymous | reply 9 | October 25, 2022 11:10 PM |
Interesting. I would love for it to be true.
I do know a lot of people who are moving out of California. It has nothing to do with Communism. The two major reasons that the people I know are leaving are the weather/Global Warming/fires/water shortages, and the high rents. In the case of rents, people were tired of having to move every two years because there is no rent control and their rents skyrocket as soon as the lease is up. AB1482 may have solved that problem.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | October 25, 2022 11:19 PM |
I’m liberal and the condition of living is making me centrist. A Latin guy just stopped by, neighbor, wondering if we had door cams. Someone stole his catalytic converters even though he had the special lock. Our hubcaps have been stolen twice. All of LA reels of weed and piss. There are camps and port o potties (a step up) unde highway overpasses. I used to like living in LA.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | October 25, 2022 11:29 PM |
I live in Cali we’re is my cut.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | October 25, 2022 11:29 PM |
Cali should secede. We don’t need your insane country.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | October 25, 2022 11:32 PM |
Good luck, r13. That means maintaining some big ticket items that the federal government covers for you…not to mention import and export taxes.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | October 26, 2022 12:05 AM |
Question from a dum dum here:
So US, China, Japan, and California in fourth place.
The US counts California’s worth as part of its own, correct?
How does that work?
If California is considered alongside entire countries, how is the US allowed to count California’s worth as part of its own - I mean, I know CA is part of the US.
Are other countries in the top tier comprised of regions that are also separately on the list?
by Anonymous | reply 15 | October 26, 2022 12:35 AM |
it is rich because of big AG but CA is running out of water precisely because of too much AG. We grow expensive nuts but they take huge amounts of water to grow.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | October 26, 2022 12:45 AM |
It's just a little hypothetical r15.
Yes, it's just part of the US economy and that is how it is counted. However it's fun to point out that if you hypothetically separated out the GDP of California that it outranks almost all countries.
Of course if California were actually a stand alone country it would have a shit down more expenses and less generous trade agreements, so it's not an accurate comparison. Still it does show how staggeringly big the economy of California is.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | October 26, 2022 12:48 AM |
Shit ton* more expenses. Oh dear.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | October 26, 2022 12:49 AM |
R14 The third of my money the feds take each year should cover those expenses.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | October 26, 2022 1:38 AM |
So will we be getting our own seat at the G7 conference?
by Anonymous | reply 20 | October 26, 2022 1:43 AM |
And the money you get back, R19. You may pay more than you receive but you do take some back. And that’s before you’ll need to set up your own military.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | October 26, 2022 1:47 AM |
R14 I don’t really want to leave the USA just pissed at Washingtons endless court games and the defense budget. But maybe we could have our own currency the California bud exchangeable at 1/ 40 th of an ounce of silver to the dollar. We would no longer accept the paper dollar or credit cards. Exchange booths at border crossings will provide the service s a public utility. Apple computer Facebook and the rest of them can move to your city and bring their blessings to with them. My gift.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | October 26, 2022 1:50 AM |
Lifelong Californian here who actually loves California, and all I can say is that our state is like a country unto itself. Our geographical diversity is enough to set us apart from not only any other state, but most countries as well. We have great cities, beautiful beaches, alpine forests, deserts, a prairie, all in one great state. If people wanna leave, go ahead, but everytime I've traveled and people have asked where I'm from and I tell them California, they get pretty excited. Go ahead, bash California all you want, but I honestly don't believe anyone that lives here really cares.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | October 26, 2022 1:55 AM |
Republicans want California to fail because it represents Democratic Party fiscal ideals.
Of course Dem fiscal policy works because it’s based on reality.
Kansas, which tried Republican fiscal policy, withered on the vine
by Anonymous | reply 24 | October 26, 2022 2:04 AM |
What this is really showing is that blue states like California, NY, and Illinois are the engines of America.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | October 26, 2022 2:05 AM |
R23 The Right wing nut jobs have purposely sought to exaggerate Blue state issues because blue states are economic engines and have great schools and a general great quality of life (which attracts tons of people including the homeless). . They’re threat to their narrative. They’re desperate to make a narrative of hellish crime and all sorts of cartoonish nonsense the low IQ eat up.
R24 BINGO!
by Anonymous | reply 26 | October 26, 2022 2:08 AM |
A. It isn't it's own economy.
B. Shipping and Google count for most of it.
C. Do you know WHY Germany has allowed Cali's ascension?! Why don't you call Putin and say thank you, you sick fucks. This is exactly what everyone criticizes you for - don't celebrate this, you idiots. You're celebrating war.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | October 26, 2022 2:09 AM |
California! The Greatest State!! 🏆

by Anonymous | reply 32 | October 26, 2022 2:36 AM |
I'm an admirer of Germany (and also of California) but let's get real. Germany did not allow(ed) California's economy to pass it, as someone wrote who seemed to explain it away on the basis of the Ukraine War & putin. This trend has been building for years and the surpassing done by California over Germany in economic size is finally happening now. The past comparative economic data to support this long trend is clear on this fact.
The linked article explains why this is the case, despite Germany having approximately 80 million people as compared to California's 40 million. It's rooted in the comparative performance of businesses in California which are performing far better and growing far faster than those in Germany.
That's all...
by Anonymous | reply 33 | October 26, 2022 2:48 AM |
CALIFORNIA IS BETTER IN EVERY WAY.
DO NOT MOVE TO FLORIDA OR TEXAS. THOSE PLACES ARE HORRIBLE.
GO TO #1 PLACE CALIFORNIA. MAGIC LAND OF DREAMS AND GOLD
by Anonymous | reply 34 | October 26, 2022 2:57 AM |
A lot of the California hate is based on jealousy. Who really wants to live in Iowa, South Dakota, or Nebraska?
by Anonymous | reply 35 | October 26, 2022 2:57 AM |
Floridians are like Thelma and Louise flying off that cliff, pedal to the metal. "We gonna own them libs!"
by Anonymous | reply 36 | October 26, 2022 3:01 AM |
THAT'S RIGHT. IOWA NEBRASKA AND SOUTH DAKOTA ARE DOG SHIT. UNFIT FOR CALIFORNIANS USED TO FINERY AND CLASS.
PLEASE DON'T COME AND WHAT YOU DID TO IDAHO. NO, CALIFORNIA IS WHERE IT'S ADD. WE WORSHIP YOU. OOOH YOU'RE FROM CALIFORNIA! OOOH AHHH WOW AMAZING SO COOL. CALIFORNIA AND YOU ARE THE BEST!
by Anonymous | reply 37 | October 26, 2022 3:01 AM |
This speaks more to the sad state of things in Germany and Europe currently. When the winter comes and everyone has to ration the little amounts of fuel they currently have over there due to the pipelines shut off, things will continue to spiral downwards. Without enough energy to power it's main economic centers, things will inevitably worsen.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | October 26, 2022 3:43 AM |
The world is better without people who write IN ALL CAPS to disprove a point.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | October 26, 2022 3:46 AM |
DAMN "STRAIGHT!"
by Anonymous | reply 40 | October 26, 2022 3:58 AM |
The Russian trolls are freaking out.
Germany will be fine with the fuel issues. We can’t let Putin get away with doing what he’s doing. Period. And we aren’t. The whole fucking world suffered during both World Wars yet those were necessary to stop evil. We’ll stop it again. Europeans are tough. Weak beta whiny bitch Republicans aren’t.
It isn’t the fault of Blue states they are the economic engines, have high quality of life vs red states which are poor, shitty, moochers.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | October 26, 2022 4:15 AM |
Texans pay more in taxes than Californians. In CA, the rich pay more. In TX, the middle class pays more. So TX double fucks the middle class.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | October 26, 2022 4:22 AM |
Why then can't Calif fix it's shitty roads?
by Anonymous | reply 43 | October 26, 2022 4:25 AM |
R43 all states have shitty roads. Many federal.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | October 26, 2022 4:28 AM |
Hmm. I didn't think California was still a thing. No one actually still lives there anymore, do they?
by Anonymous | reply 45 | October 26, 2022 4:30 AM |
R46 Musk had hand in fucking that up on purpose.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | October 26, 2022 5:05 AM |
Well said, R23.
[quote]We spit on those brokeass red states!
But we'll still pay for their Cheetos and the Mountain Dew they self-medicate with. You're welcome!
by Anonymous | reply 48 | October 26, 2022 5:15 AM |
"Cali should secede. We don’t need your insane country."
Fine by us. We'll secede from Cali (and take the water that flows through our area before it gets to yours).
by Anonymous | reply 50 | October 26, 2022 10:37 AM |
R50, I've never heard Fresno and Bakersfield talk so tough before. It's cute.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | October 26, 2022 10:45 AM |
They don't get cute.
They get drop dead gorgeous.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | October 26, 2022 10:46 AM |
This thread has much troll tears.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | October 26, 2022 11:35 AM |
For everyone but the upper class, taxes are actually better in California than in Texas
by Anonymous | reply 54 | October 26, 2022 2:46 PM |
When the wintry winds starts blowing
And the snow is starting in the fall
Then my eyes went westward knowing
That's the place that I love best of all
California i've been blue
Since i've been away from you
I can't wait 'till i get going
Even now i'm starting in a call
California, Here I Come
Right back where I started from
Where bowers of flowers
Bloom in the spring
Each morning at dawning
Birdies sing at everything
A sun-kissed miss said, "Don't be late!"
That's why I can hardly wait
Open up that golden gate
California, Here I Come!

Great food, often lovely weather, lots of cash, loads of gays, yet so tragic.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | October 26, 2022 4:51 PM |
I've been noticing a lot of new roadwork being done here the last couple of years. A very bad road near my home was recently fixed finally.

Red-state Log Cabin cunts must be wriggling in agony and raging envy!!!!
hahahaha! Go eat Abbott and DeSatanist's shit and die, cunts!

Even without California, the US is still number one. This must be so soul-crushing for shithole China then! hahahaha!
Xi must be having an apoplectic attack!!!
by Anonymous | reply 60 | October 26, 2022 10:29 PM |
California is what every other US state wants to be
by Anonymous | reply 61 | October 26, 2022 11:55 PM |
R60, just biding our time.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | October 26, 2022 11:56 PM |
Soon they won’t be able to water their veggies. Sad last days. If the water crisis doesn’t fuck CA over, the wildfires, extreme heat and earthquakes will.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | October 26, 2022 11:58 PM |
And the price of lettuce will go up for YOU, r63.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | October 27, 2022 4:24 AM |
I've always thought the condition of the roads were due to the ground constantly shifting?
by Anonymous | reply 65 | October 27, 2022 4:31 AM |
R63 All they need to do is build more desalination plants. The state is awash in money, it won't take much. Now there is no remedy for the hurricanes constantly battering Florida and the gulf coast, not to mention rising sea levels that will submerge the coasts.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | October 27, 2022 4:35 AM |
Please talk to some NYers about whether they want to move to California r61.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | October 27, 2022 4:36 AM |
California is a prime example of failing capitalism. Rich getting richer while homeless populations grow. SF and LA are a disgrace. But this will happen throughout the USA. Calif is the canary.
by Anonymous | reply 68 | October 27, 2022 4:43 AM |
The rich have been getting richer and the middle class shrinking for decades all across America r68. That is the real "American dream* we have one of the highest income inequalities of any western nation r68.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | October 27, 2022 4:46 AM |
We're fine, r68, shitty roads and all. We send our love...

Thank you GOP for your federal tax laws.
by Anonymous | reply 74 | October 27, 2022 7:53 PM |
What's stopping you r73? If you can afford a place in NYC you can afford a place in CA.
I don't understand why anyone would you put up with living in NY if you don't enjoy it personally.
by Anonymous | reply 75 | October 27, 2022 8:27 PM |
It's too big to be managed with the infrastructure that it has (high taxes, outrageous gas prices, crime, homelessness, state agency fraud, local corruption, releasing prisoners, illegal immigrants flowing into the state, state programs for illegal immigrants - food stamps, meidcaid, reduced utilites, free housing). That is just the tip of all that is wrong. We are way to progressive and the state will only be left with the rich and poor.
by Anonymous | reply 76 | October 27, 2022 8:34 PM |
I'm poor, r76, so I'll be just fine.
by Anonymous | reply 77 | October 27, 2022 9:15 PM |
R76, and yet, it’s economy keeps growing and growing
Maybe the “problems” aren’t really so bad

My friends, family, and job are in NY. It would be too disruptive to move at this point. About 20 years ago, I had a real chance to move to SF. I kick myself that I didn’t take it. Maybe I’ll retire there because FL is out of the question
by Anonymous | reply 79 | October 27, 2022 10:34 PM |
R78, yeah they are....
A less-publicized national index was just released showing California with the nation’s third worst state business tax climate.
Companies and residents are fed up and moving out.

It should be. Maybe Carrie Underwood?
Look, some of us can't go back to California because all of our family live there. And they're awful.
But what is this psychotic defensiveness and weird competition? When did this all happen?
Everyone loves California, everyone loves Florida. Everyone goes to them to visit and vacation and retire and I don't want nature to destroy either.
Anyone acting this aggro is No Native Californian. Relax.
