When I was a kid, I remember someone joking that Jane Pauley never changed her hairstyle, and ever since then that's been by go-to example for women who keep their same hair forever.

Anna Wintour has kept her hair forever because it supposedly makes you look ageless to pick a look and stick with it forever, but her hair is wigs now, and is starting to look vaguely ridiculous.

Supposedly the trick dowagers tell each other is to start when you are young keeping your hairstyle exactly the same for the rest of your life so you always look as you did the last time someone saw you years ago. Another trick in this strategy is to adapt very early on a hairstyle that covers your forehead and cheeks, so when you get older people still can't see wrinkles.

This has been exactly Anna Wintour's strategy starting when she became the head editor at Vogue.

I would not be surprised at all to learn she had a metal snap installed in her scalp to snap her wigs on tight, just as Andy Warhol supposedly did.

Carol Brady, has anyone EVER seen a photo of her without hair covering her forehead? I think there is a hole in the middle of her head and she uses her hair to cover it up. She also murdered her first husband and dated her stepson.

Life is hard enough, as you will find out one day, without ridiculing any older person, no matter their gender or non-gender, because of their hair, and more accurately, lack thereof.

Wigs, extensions, upkeep are expensive. I've lost handfuls of my once nice, thick, head of hair and now that it's happened to me, I totally get why men shave it off, and women just make do with what they are rapidly losing.

I totally agree, however, that older women and men should avoid longer styles.

This observation by r4 is dead-on accurate.

Quite frankly, I'm surprised Anna Wintour hasn't subtly, yet noticeably thinned her wigs.

SJP will always have long, stringy hair until the day she dies. Kim Catrall will always have her bangs and layered hair, also like Dr. Jill Biden.

I can't find a good photo of it, Jane Pauley's hair used to look like patches of cowlicks going in different directions.
