Filmmakers and creative control.

Some have inconsistent filmographies, some completely go off the rails, while others never make a bad movie.

I think the ones who are truly talented never completely lose it.

Directors like Rob Reiner, Martin Brest, John Landis, Robert Zemeckis, M. Night Shyamalan and Barry Levinson totally dropped the ball.

Say what you want about Ron Howard, but he was pretty consistent until the 2010s. Parenthood, The Paper and Apollo 13 are damn good for they are. Ransom is underrated (with a more interesting third act, it could have even been Howard's best).

Joel Schumacher also lost it after the early 2000s.

Zemeckis has lost the box office, but still makes good movies for what they are.
